What's Cleveland. Thank you so much for this video. I was debating between these controllers. Being I come from turntables & effects etc, the SX3 makes sense. Never used CDJ controller, but the 1000SRT does not make sense for me, appears more complicated. You saved me cash. Now I can probably get a bundle to include case & still have a good deal. Thanks, love your videos...

Great video man, you weighed out all the options. I was set on making a move up from my SX2 to get the SRT1000 until you pointed out the clear things it’s missing. I just need Pioneer to come out with an SX4 that is basically a smaller SZ2 while still keeping the weighted CDJ platters. If that came out I think it would quickly shoot up to be their most popular and wildly used controller. But it would probably end up being $1799 retail🥴

I also keep this considered in the price. The first limited batch of these will be bundled with Serato DJ Suite which is a $300 value. This unit costs only $100 more than the Rekordbox DDJ-1000, but comes with $300 worth of Serato software. Not saying this is a deal breaker, but I think it's something to be considered in the price. And the Serato DJ Suite is a voucher, and not simple a device activation. So that means you can activate your laptop with it and take it to any device.

Very valid points. At home I use the CDJ & DJM Nexus 2 setup plugged into Serato. I use this setup because it’s the standard club kit at clubs and lounges in the area. With this controller I’m thinking about selling all of the Nexus units (CDJ 2000 NXS2, DJM 900 NXS2 and the DJS 1000) while the values are still high and using this controller.

There really needs to be a Pioneer DDJ-800SRT for those of us who use Serato and have no use for 4 channels, I do not want to pay the extra money for 2 channels I would never use and the extra size 4 channels require does not appeal as it makes the unit less portable. If Pioneer can make a 1000SRT it probably would not be difficult to produce the 800 Serato version and offer a wider product range.

Just to let you known you're the dude. I enjoy your videos, very informative. always been interested in becoming a DJ, tried it when I was in my 20's, but I was all over the place(smile). Now I'm in my early 60's a little more settled & relaxed and I'd like to try it again. I've been collecting equipment the last few yrs I went kind of large starting out with the roland DJ 808, a lot to handle, but not bad to learn on. I'm a more direction book reading person first & then hands on. Now back to you & your videos. I always tend to walk away with a little more knowledge about when or when not to upgrade. I like how you don't jump around when it comes to you doing a video on comparing two pieces of equipment that are branded by the same name( pioneer, denon). you always go over from the top to the bottom about comparing the two, talking about the changes good or bad & if the new is any better then the previous model. so at this point I'm still looking to get that right DJ controller or mixer. Just keep doing a good job & I'll keep watching.

  • @thatsmybit

Cleveland u nailed it again. Pioneer definitely went the lazier route and ignored key serato features just to avoid creating an actual new model for production purposes. I did see in a video by discjockeynews I believe that they spoke with a pioneer rep and serato was the ones who wanted the wave forms eliminated in order to match the serato deck. But the EFX knobs should have had a pad EFX replacement, they did it in the SB3 why couldn’t they have done it in the 1000. Another issue I have is the looping I find it clunky compared to the way the SX2/3 has it. I won’t be upgrading my SX2 I’ll be waiting for a SZ3

As an owner of an SX3 and DDJ 1000 (Rekordbox) ...I don't think it's worth upgrading, at least not at this stage of the game. Chances are Pioneer will start placing Jogs on all their new controllers. So holding out for another year or two isn't such a bad thing. Imagine an SZ3 with jogs? To me this particular move was a money grab. Now as a DDJ1000 owner...I do hope that there is a firmware that will be released and that it will open up the original 1000 for serato, lol. *crossing my fingers*

I stick with my SX2 (or upgrade to competition) until Pioneer reverts to class compliant/standard ASIO sound cards. There is absolutely no technical reason why they switched their high-end mixers and controllers to proprietary drivers. All competitor equivalents (notably Denon, Rane, Numark) could provide similar features with Audio/MIDI class compliant drivers.
So it means you spend 1 to 2K on a device that may become obsolete in 3 years because Pioneer won’t update their drivers for the latest OS which also affects the resale value dramatically.

I will also midi map some better looping functions. After that it would work for me. The thing that sucks is the Serato FX are not post fader. Pioneer were assholes for that one... I wish an all in one designed like Rane 12 motorized decks with real slip mats and option to place a real record even for looks would be the best yet. Keep the similar design of the 1000 and keep the price to $2 grand or less if possible. Add the effects and flip firect access features and sit back and watch that board sell. But, I learned how to scratch with tape cassettes as a kid on my own contraption I made from other people's trash and garage sale finds. You helped me decide to save my pennies and go for the 1000. Not really, the 1000srt 'highjacks' the sound and the effects. I'm using the 1000srt for vdj 2020 and the trim levels and crossfader is controlled by the controller: you can't control those with the mouse, it's hardware based. So remapping the software effects to some buttons works but then the software effects will not be postfader. So you're kinda stuck with the hardware effects.

For a turntablist, would the jog wheel feel better or a motorized controller like Numark?
Can't stand the capacitive jog wheels of the sx2.

Ok help! I like the new jog wheels on the Pioneer DDJ 1000SRT but aren’t those the same size as those on the Pioneer DDJ SZ2? I had the SX2 and was just about to get either the SX3 or SZ2 until the 1000SRT came out. I’m more of a turntablist but I do love a great controller, and the SX2 was a fave. Please advise! Thanks!

So I have a sx3 using serato but I'm looking at the DDJ-1000 with record box would this review still remain pretty relevant? I am going to keep my sx3 but wanted the Redbox on the DJ 1000 just because I know clubs and whatnot use record box cdjs and be easier to transfer music and I like the board in general but you hit the spot on the transitions I do use some effects but not a lot. So in the end I would still use both boards with that being said would it be worth it to upgrade to the DJ 1000 Redbox edition. Sorry about all the questions I asked there was just so many questions I couldn't read them all

I'm debating if I should either keep my SX3 (use as a backup) and then buy the DDJ-1000 SRT or sell my SX3 to get the DDJ-1000 SRT. Whats a deal factor to me is the jog wheels. The effects I sometime use but still wondering if its worth keeping both.

love the jogs - that's the main reason I'm thinking of buying it (I have the SX3). But VERY disappointed that there are no Flip buttons!! I use flips EVERYWHERE!! :( :( Can you map them to another button? And, if yes, will the button light up when Flip is engaged like it does on the SX3? Also very disappointed that there is no dedicated vinyl brake/stop knob!! :( :( It's on the Nexus CDJs so it SHOULD have been here too. Last, does anyone know if it will fit, specifically, in my DJC-SC5 Pioneer bag that all the DDJ-SX models do?

  • @knightlifeentertainmentgro6072

So for someone like myself who’s been using Numark forever and wants to upgrade and also switch to Pioneer would it be smart to go right to the DJ-1000SRT?The jog wheels are winning me over because I love to cut and size of the jog wheels makes sense.. the NS7 gives me a turntable feel that’s why love it so much and the the denon DJ prime was gonna be it but then this dropped.. do you have some pointers?

    • @priyonjoni
      @priyonjoni Před 5 lety

The Pioneer DJ PLX-500 and PLX-1000 have motorized platters. The fact is, "motorized platters" add weight, add variables, introduce wow and flutter, as well as another layers of potential parts that could wear over time which require servicing. Even Technics require maintenance over time. While it may seem there is a "demand" for "motorized platters", the majority of Pioneer DJ users will not like the fact their LCD rotation indicator is lost, along with the added weight. There are folks who prefer the jog wheel, they're just not as loud. Doing this might satisfy the "I need to make it feel like vinyl" folks, but could actually lose the folks already in the eco-system of Pioneer. Ever pick up an NS7? I also don't think folks will appreciate the weight gained on the Pioneer decks and controllers from a motorized system. The jog-wheel system has been proven to work for 19 years. And the fact the DDJ-1000SRT sold out in the first hour of DJ Expo despite all the lackings of Serato dedicated controls is very telling how important this jog system is to folks.
