      @@digitaldjtips I hate to say this but I actually returned my reloop turntables and picked up a DDJ-1000SRT for myself. I have to say this thing freakin' rocks! I feel almost guilty because it's so easy to mix and everything I need is right there, not to mention the convenience of carrying it around as opposed to lugging 2x heavy turntables, a mixer, and various cables. I thought this would be one glorified big toy but I'm telling everyone to get one, I love it!!

    Beat jump length can be displayd on laptop screen. Just check the beat jump controll in SERATO setings. Also if you enable hw remaping for 1000 srt in SERATO, you can customize the 2× /2 loop controlls to your prefered style.

    This set up is meant to give an idea of what the workflow is like using Pioneer CDJ2000NXSS and a DJM 900NXS (with HID and Serato DJ Pro). Most use the hardware FX on that set up and guys that require extra controls bring their DDJ-SP1 add on controller.
    It brings a bit more to the table with the performance pads than using standard CDJs with Serato besides the overview waveform. It would have been nice but its not a biggie.

      Think about it this way... Pioneer doesn't make a profit if you buy a different software to theirs. They are guaranteeing that they move units one way or the other. It's just that you have to choose which software you want to run with it. The one thing people are forgetting is that the SRT was released simply because there was a demand for a Serato version of the controller. And the increase in price is simply Pioneer incorporating licensing fees into it.

    It seems like all the issues you have with this controller are personal issues on how you use your hardware. This shouldn’t be compared to other controllers. It’s in a league of it’s own. It’s just a different way to get the job done. The main thing with this controller are the large mechanical jog wheels. They are so fun to play on and have a great feel. Not worried at all about not being able to use Serato’s effects because most will find that the effects that are built into this controller work better and work on all inputs. Glad they finally came out with the Serato version of this controller. Video disc jockeys like myself will never use Rekordbox box because they still haven’t been able to have “mixed media” crates even after 5 versions of their software.

    • @digitaldjtips

      It's not about me, it's about what users expect Patrick. As I said in the piece, for some, this unit will be awesome - it's a great controller. For others, they'd be better off with a controller that mirrors Serato better - like Pioneer's own SX3. All that said, of course I'm going to point out my thoughts - it's up to the viewer to decide if those issues are important to them or not. It seems for you, for instance, that this is a great choice!

    Hey, Phil. As far as the lack of “loop button/ knob”, how about midi mapping the song select knob on each deck? I personally never use that knob/ button to select songs. I always use my keyboard. I would midi map those to become an auto-loop knob. Just a thought.....

    • @digitaldjtips

      Not tried it - apparently the decks are mirrored in the Midi implementation and you may struggle with the modifier key. It could be a solution though!

    Hi I know this is an old review. I am looking into getting into this hobby starting from ground zero. Knowing myself, if I purchase a basic controller without the on board effects and some bells and whistles I will most likely lose interest. I was looking at this system along withe the Rane 4. I remember hearing don't get hung up on controllers but knowing me i have to have the best bang for buck so I can grow into the controller without having to upgrade. What do you think? Thanks and you make great review vids.

    Beatjump and looping look pants on this when compared to NI Traktor software and hardware. I think Pioneer need to seriously develop this instead of bringing out a new controller every few months that is 'slightly' different from the previous model.

    For me the djm mixer it's missing the fx time parameter control. You have also highlighted some good points. I am swaying between this and the ddjsz2 for the next controller, if it was the djm100 SRT I feel I would need a midi controller for serato fx to make up for missing out on the parameter knob. If this was the case could the midi controller also be used to control the decks of another channel while the control was used for 2 to remove the need for jumping between channels on L and R decks?

    Hi Phil! First of all thanks for the nice review, always straight to the point! Second, I got a question, is there a way to avoid changing the songs with the search buttons on the ddj 1000? I don't find it very useful as I have my dedicated knob search at the corner of each deck...

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  Před 3 lety +1

      I don't think so, although you may be able to turn those off in the Midi mapping section.
