Part of the snow experience is how well sorted the truck is. I have a 22 2500 and it’s the most planted truck I’ve owned. It just tracks great and gives a very good experience going down the road in the snow.

I’ve owned this XT tire for +2 years on my 2020 Chevy 2500 here in Alberta and these tires have amazed me. As quiet as my Michelin mild terrain Defender M/S’s on both gravel roads and highways and I did not notice any fuel efficiency penalty (bonus) . Add to that is the cushioned feel on gravel and again, a quiet tire. Great grip of course without question. Sipes are all the way down and serrated edges on each block I’m sure helps a lot in mud, snow, etc. a Sleeper of a tire. Should be on the short list for anyone with a truck.

The falken wildpeak at3's are pretty well reviewed for snow and pretty popular around here. They give you 18.5 32nds tread to start off so should give good wear life. Alignment and rotation is key of course with attention to your suspension components. You can get a lifetime alignment at firestone to make it easy.

Thank you for the review - both your comments on these tires and the reviews it has promoted below has helped me make a decision on these XT's. I have a new-to-me 2004 2500HD (older than most of yours, but low miles) that I'll use for plowing this year. It has a 5yo set of duratracs on it now - they have ~9/32 of tread, but are slippery as heck in the snow (probably because of their age). I haven't had to plow yet, but I'm convinced after a few light snows that we've had that I clearly need new tires. I'm going to give these a shot over the BFG K02's that I was previously considering. Thx!

Currently have wild peaks on now. I will check out the Firestone’s based on your recommendation. My two cents - as you making decisions on what to keep - I would keep the gasser as it gives you flexibility on fuel since down here diesel is over $2.00per gallon more expensive than regular unleaded. Plus it can haul all but the biggest machines you have. This way you have options on what to take for some of the hauls.

This isn't the 80s anymore, and you're incorrect. Firestone has been making some top tier tires for years now. There not over priced, there not loud, they don't ride rough, they get excellent traction and wear evenly. What more do you want?
