  • Bangladesh might not be on everyone's bucket list but as I like going to new countries without any expectations it surprised me in so many ways. Being a less visited country makes Bangladesh a very unique and authentic destination to travel to. Here are my first impressions from the very first day of discovering this Asian country full of kind people.

Dhaka is divided into 2 areas (1) old Dhaka is crowded with rickshaws, narrowlanes, bazaars (marketplace) 2000 buildings from British & Mughal Eras. Traditional kacchi biriani found here &a Borhani is an yoghurt based drink with spices & 1 million people crammed in only 5 sq km area 2) New Dhaka is modern part of the city, broad wide opened avenues, with motor vehicles of all kinds of latest brand running the streets, modern shopping malls, restaurants catering international franchises, modern cafes, clubs, hotels, parks, roof-top dining & swimming pools, foreign embassies, educational institutions, car show rooms etc it’s completely different world to old Dhaka ❤

Whatever things you mentioned in New Dhaka are common and normal. New Dhaka is not modern, it's just normal.

Summer in Dhaka is the worst time you can visit, due to the scorching heat, flying dust, and crazy humidity. People outside of Dhaka try to avoid Dhaka unless they have an emergency. You can visit the Sylhet region now which has heavy rainfall and an overall cooler climate.

Bangladesh might not be the best place for your honeymoon. But if you like adventure and drama, then Bangladesh is definitely the place for you! THIS COUNTRY IS DIVERSE yet weird at the same time. One Tip: Try to visit countryside and also Sylhet, Chittagong, Chandpur. These cities are very different than each other and you will get an idea of how people of different income bracket lives in this country!

The history of British colonisation explains why 90% of Bangladesh is Muslim,
although Eastern Bengal (which is modern day Bangladesh) has been majority-Muslim for a long time and before that it was majority Buddhist,
During British colonisation of Bengal, in 1905 the British colonisers partitioned Bengal with the majority Hindu West Bengal (a state in India) being separated from the Muslim majority East Bengal (now Bangladesh) because they wanted to break up Bengali unity,
since Bengalis resisted and rebelled and fought against British colonisation the most in South Asia (this is an argument/point of view I believe in),
In 1947 when British colonisers left South Asia and ended their colonisation of south-Asia, there were campaigns for a separate south-Asian country to be created for Muslim south-asians to protect Muslim south-Asians against discrimination (since Muslims were discriminated against during British rule of this land) and that’s how Pakistan was created, in 1971 after a 9-month brutal war of independence (where a genoc1de and mass rapes against Bengali women took place) Bangladesh was as created

Just to add a fact check ✅ Bangladesh is poor yes but to what standard ? South Asia's richest nation as oer GDP just life is more expensive. I think you could have talked to few expats living here to get a better understanding and maybe chat to few guys around. There is no doubt posh sides if u can afford it . But most tend to come for chaos tourism as i like to call it .

Don't visit South Asia during summer, it's unbearable even for us. Instead, try cooler states in India like Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, etc.
