I know of two Taurus sedans that engines were ruined by faulty water pumps. The seals failed and water flooded the lube system. Loss of coolant over heats engine and coolant saturates the lube oil. Water settling in the crankcase is pumped instead of oil.

I had to go to a neighbor of yours (who works on boat motors) to get the definition and explanation of a freeze plug. I’m not an engine mechanic or engineer but I’ve heard these terms like freeze plug all my life but never knew what they were.

Everybody calls them freeze plugs but they are actually just casting plugs. They don't really offer any freeze protection. They are simply used to fill in the holes that are left behind from the casting process.

So if it’s leaking a lot from the weep hole, it means you need a water pump replacement?

    Is this a 3.5 N/A on a F-150, if so what years?

So that means since mine's is leaking I have to change the water pump

Yes. It's a big job since it is driven off the timing chain. I think I have a how-to video covering the job on here somewhere.

It's a great engine, but this is the one flaw... The eco boost 3.5 has a belt driven pump, this internally driven one will leak coolent into your crankcase and make milkshakes😞

Not really, gotta remove the engine and timing cover and timing chain to change the pump
