- In this video on the AutoEdit CZcams channel... you will see the three most cost effective yet highest rewarding upgrades for the new Ford Focus ST and we install them on my nephews car!
That is my nephew Michael Dean, and his pride and joy... a 2017 Ford Focus ST. He really loves this thing and wanted me to teach him more about wrenching on cars and help him install a "tuner kit" on this little turbo charged hot rod. After doing a bit of research... I found kits costing over $2500 and only gaining 40 or 50 horsepower.
So... I went to one of my favorite brands... Flowmaster and put together my own kit out of three different items they offer:
First up is a Delta Force Cold Air Intake
www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...
Next up is the Flowmaster Delta Boost Module
www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...
Exhaust kit
www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...
Full retail for all three parts is still less than half the price of other kits and offers similar horsepower gains and a hugely improved overall driving experience. Plus, they have sales all the time so you can save a bit more. Flowmaster doesn't sell this as a tuner kit yet BUT THEY SHOULD!
Plus this was just an awesome day of wrenching with my nephew and I was just stoked to share some car knowledge with him and see him enjoy the process.
Thanks so much for watching and please subscribe to the AutoEdit CZcams channel and give me a follow over on Instagram...

I wish I had an uncle like you!! Guess I’ll just have to be that uncle when the time comes 👍
That's the most awesome way to look at it! Thanks dude!
Same haha. You rock. Have the exact same car too.
👏👏👏That's the right attitude! I know this is a 5 year old comment but that's how I felt about becoming a father. Didn't have good one but I guess I'll just have to do that myself😂.
Can't tell you how much time I spent working on cars with my uncles growing up. Practically learned all i know from them. Great memories. This was fun to watch. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing!
The ST is a great car. I can remember back when I was 19-20 wrenching on stuff with my dad and my uncle. Learned a LOT from driving old jeeps that always needed to be worked on.
I'm 32 and installing a Turbosmart BOV. You're never too old to experience a louder spool 😂😂
HA!
I wish my car had those wheels instead of the premiums, the look so damn good for no reason!
I think that it's really cool helping your nephew get into cars so many youth nowdays have their head in their phone I am already starting my 5 year old son with helping me with my lifted 02 Ford F150!!
That's awesome Jason!!! Nothing better than wrenching and making memories with your nephew!!! Yeah man!!!
So glad you took a moment to watch and say awesome stuff!
ST’s are awesome. Sold my corvette for one and I love the MPG and turbo sounds plus it doesn’t lack torque by any means
Love my JK and ST. So happy to see your channel growing!
Thanks so much for sticking around and the support!
super cool teaching and helping others and sharing the knowledge and skill sets with the younger drivers. Good job!
Thanks so much!
Good stuff. More of you influencing your Nephew in a very positive way.
Ok!
I enjoyed watching a typical young person go from not wanting to work, to appreciating hard work. It's experiences like these that makes a better world.
Great video man she sounds great 💪🏾💪🏾
What a great Uncle. Nice mods. Nice video. Cheers!
Cheers to you! Thanks for the support
Good for you. Love them while you have them!
This video is awesome!! Very professional! Keep up the good work!
Great to hear, thanks!
very good job ,guys
enjoy your care ,budy
Cool Stuff! My uncle has recently turned into a car guy and we have tons of fun visiting the Pull-A-Part places in the Boise area finding items in great condition to replace faded panels, busted knobs, stuff like that. I've even found some performance parts for Mustangs that fit my Bronco, For example, found a $90 fuel regulator, pulled and paid $30 and it works like new.
Awesome share!
Nice I'm in Boise too fixing up cars is my favorite pass tome nothing like getting something running like a champ
Gongrats! Now you are officially turned into "the cool uncle".
Hey, that thing really transform this focus st. It's preety incredible. Happy reanching. :)
Thanks a bunch!
I remember when I was 20 and the zx3 came out 😍 I bought one and moded the crap out of it, now when I look at the ST it has everything the zx3 needed
Funny how some companies get that eventually. The new Jeep JL is a good example of that.
i love my zx3... zetec power
Sounds great!
For stage 2 rear motor mount , catless downpipe, mountune shifter cable bushings, short shifter plate all that will make the car a lot more fun
Nice design on the intake with the heat shield, exhaust sounds very good!
I love my ST3 and I have to do these mods. What a great video! SUB’D!
Thanks! You will have fun with these... the exhaust sounds really good!
🤙🏽 cars bring people together is what it’s all about
Like this!
Hey I really wanna thank you for making this video! I didn't know that Flowmaster made an intake for the Focus ST that was 50-State Legal! I've had my ST for just over a month and I've been researching mods like cold air intakes and have been frustrated by lack of emissions compliant choices (I'm from Cali, where you get seriously dinged for having non-compliant parts)
So after I saw this video, I went to Flowmaster's website and found an affordable CARB legal intake! Score!
Glad I could help!
Sounds good
5:16 "but now I can't see" being a youtuber, I feel this on a personal level. anything it takes for the right shot!
You do a fantastic job dude!
autoedit thanks! Means a lot !
i dont mind these videos youll be able to reach a wider more younger audience with doing more of these videos plus its a good refresher to go from muscle and offroad to import/street :D loved it cant wait for more videos!!!
Thanks for the support!
@@AutoEdits of course thanks for the great content
Love it man good content
Thanks so much!
Do you think the boost module would be alright on an escape with the same motor setup?
E30 tune by stratisfied by far, had the biggest impact when I owned an ST.
Needs to crackle and pop but I love those turbo sounds
super late and irrelevant comment- but get that kid some sunglasses LOL! I was squinting my eyes watching him squint haha! Great video, watching in 2019!
HA! He's got a sweet set of shades now! Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to comment!
Nice set up bro. Is that a stock bov or aftermarket.
was the car ever retuned with the installation of his blow off valve?
super cool.
I wonder how it would be against my modded 04 mini. Only thing stock is head and cam now. It's a little rocket and I been wanting to run against a focus
What’s good parts to add to my Ford Focus se 2017 hatchback I know it’s not a st or rs but wanna make it look like one and make it quick and sounds good
I need this...
Hey guys! I have a quick question, I have a 2018 Focus ST with a mountune high flow air intake filter and mountune rear motor mount, I just installed the outlaw exhaust on my car and it feels like I may have loss some low end power, it feels like the car is a little slower off the line and doesn’t accelerate as fast as it did with the stock exhaust, am I just hallucinating or could i actually have loss power with the new exhaust system?
COBB was my choice when I first modded my ST.
They make great stuff, just VERY expensive. I wanted an option that had similar return on performance for a more affordable price to the beginner mechanic and we did it. We will get dyno numbers in a month or so and show the actual wheel gains!
Hey autoedit, really enjoyed the video. I was curious how substantial the gas mileage change would be for a series of modifications similar to what you and your nephew did to his st? I am assuming that the boost setting (I believe there are 4 performance settings?) on the module would have the greatest effect but I'm sure you know better than me. Thanks!
He got worse mileage at first because it sounded so good he revved the crap out of it all the time and with the boost set low... a little better mileage.
A car guy was born on this day. I wonder what his face looks like when he gets his first ride along in a V8.
HAHA! He's a good kid! Thanks for watching and being awesome!
Can I install this on my 17 Focus Titanium?
Sound like my SRT-4 now. Nice.
It's a neon
@@fishkd2240 Yup
Can you put this kit on a 2017 manual Ford Focus?
Does flowmaster ship to the UK?
Get BlackVue DR900S front and rear dash cam.
So did you gift that guy all those parts?!
Best bang for the buck? The steeda clutch spring and boomba racing ultimate shift package. 100% guarantee as the best bang for the buck. Complete different car
Wait what does that little red box do?
Did the delta boost tuner really help ?? Any issues as in engine light or any other things?? I have a 2018 st1 wanting to get 1 juat dont want go waste the money
Did you tune for the support mods? All that "difference" might be just in your head if not...
GG turbo and GG Clutch
I’m not a kid anymore but my 2018 Focus ST was way TOO quiet, a drivers car has to have some sound to help you manipulate the engine . A TURBO car has to have. a loud blow off valve an a loud intake sound and a beautiful exhaust note . In this manner you don’t need to look at the instruments you drive by sound and that is awesome. All of those sounds are necessary to get many smiles per gallon !
I love my ‘18 ST too but I agree, it’s too quiet. Just don’t have money to do anything and I don’t want to give dealers any reason to deny a warranty claim
@@steventhompson5554 I'm in the same boat as you, my 18 ST is soooooo quiet but I fear to do anything because I know how easy it is to lose my warranty. They already found a oil leak and I know they were looking for a reason to warranty it.
K J i have a 16 st and i got a mbrp exhaust and it works nice
I installed a Magna Flow exhaust cat back. #15155 I highly recommend it ! Very low rumble at idle awesome sound at 4500 on up .NO DRONE ! NO RICE ! You can hear the Turbo spin up , adds about 10 - 15 HP very noticeable, sweet Get this one you will not be sorry . These sounds will help you drive the car with out being riveted to watching the Tach
i wish i had a mechanic uncle
So I have the same car but I can’t hear my turbo spool will the intake make You hear the turbo spool
Seems like a good kid
Will this exhaust pass California emissions test?
does this flowmaster outlaw exhaust drone like most of the flowmasters systems? sounds good in the video...
The only Flowmaster things that drone are race mufflers that are being used on daily drivers. Misusing parts is the owner's problem.
Nice
Anyone think I can put the air box and tuner on a ford escape? It has the same engine
Any of these void your warranty?
Is that project black sheep from 4 wheel magazine?
The Dodge Ram in the driveway
Yes it is! I have a full rebuild series on that truck on this channel.
Exhaust is the best mod for performance cars. The sound alone makes the experience more enjoyable without considering performance gains. 0-35 with a great sound is fun even when its not ran hard.
And everyone will hate you without gaining any HP.
how can i get that dirt everyday shirt ??? that is awesome!!!
Good spot. Yeah I have a couple shirts from when I worked on that show.
is there a turbo on it? it sounds like it kind of
I have a Question. When putting the rubber around did you cut into pieces or just put it on in one go? If so is there any whole when installing it bc if the rubber? Maybe I just installed it wrong maybe but when putting on the rubber then installing it there is 2 small open airways bc of the rubber. Please let me know.
We just kept it in one piece but it was trick to get on that way.
Would this kit work on a focus se? Or just the st?
Not sure, just check the link and see if it's compatible with non turbo cars.
I know this is an older video but would those parts fit the 2013-14 st’s
Yes… just get the kit specific to your year.
When using soapy water or other chemicals in a generic spray bottle it should be labeled “ not vodka “ as per safety protocol.
HA! You did it again.... laughs out loud !!!
Cobb from a pro tuner, MBRP aluminum exhaust and green filter is a better bang, you asked. 🤷🏻♂️
I did ask and it's all good! There are lots of good products out there... thanks for sharing some
a $100 bov, ford racing filter, and a tuner. IMO
Andrew Campbell understood, but a bov does nothing.
yeahhhh but it sounds amazing and well worth the 100 bucks lol but whatever bud
FN 2199 COBB Tuner is $500 by itself
Just curious if all those mods are CARB compliant? Also whats the hp gain?
You guys should of done an exhaust clip after cutting the muffler off! Lol
should've*
Nice video but I don’t know if I want to speed a K to get a few HP and change the sound. And putting a blowoff on a stock ST as your first mod is questionable. I know it was done before the video. I did like the exhaust and I really like the ST.
The exhaust is my favorite part of this install... looks good and sounds great!
Is it smart to push more boost with just a Turbosmart installed? Honestly wondering. Also, has he considered a rear engine mount? Our ST's lack LSD so I'm sure that sucker still has some wheel hop. Nice kit for the price, regardless!
Yes, I'm told that the engines are engineered from the factory to withstand more than the 4 psi this tuner can add. The engine mount is a very good idea... this video was just to highlight these VERY simple to do modifications for quick and easy fun.
Good to know, thank you! Every ST owner I've ran into since getting mine have asked if I upgraded the REM so I finally went with cp-e's and it's a world of difference. Mountune makes a great one as well for a bit cheaper if he's interested, careful installing that one upside down. Great video!
Needs a depo intercooler and a hard accessport, then you'd have the best bang for bucks mods.
Awesome video. I have a 2016 White ST. It's got a Cobb access port, Cobb FMI, Tial BOV, CPE rear motor mount, Velossa big mouth, Roush CAI, Cobb short shifter, MBRP catless downpipe, Roush exhaust, ATP GTX2867R gen 2 turbo swap so far. tune at 23 lbs put it a hair under 360 wheel horse on the dyno, around 6500 in aftermarket parts, 19.5K for the car... and easily 400 crank horse power. I love this car.
That's quite the build... thanks for sharing!
Did you ever post an update On the car ?
I never did another video on this car but he drove it for years after and loved it.
great video, love to see a kid getting into cars and what not, that being said.... hes definitely a kid, the loud whooshing BOV and the "fart can" flowmaster screams look at me! I watched fast and furious! lol in all seriousness though, good shit!
I did the same to my cars when young but this exhaust is far from "fart can" Yes it's loud and a turbo four doesn't have much range but this system screams high quality and this kid still loves every single thing we did to this car!
@@AutoEdits that's all that matters!!!
Do they have these parts for a ford fiesta se 2016?
Check the website!
Sounds like it has BOV, which one is it? It doesnt sound so bad like Boomba
This ST but diesel is awesome
3k for that kit you can go full bolt ons and pro tune for 4k
What BOV does this kid run
I think fun is subjective. I'd prefer the performance data.
is the jack stands on the swap bar.
Nope
no doubt what a good unc. could feel the kids discomfort with the camera tho lol
'what all have you done to your car?
"ya so I installed a blow off valve in it"
'cool, let's start, take the valve cover off'
"uh, how? idk how"
bov must of sat on top the cover. lol couldn't put a heat shield together?
That’s cool man spending time with your nephew , my uncles were worthless asshats lol
Haha!
What is a asshat? Lol
Catless down pipe next
Great video again as always. Like that you are getting young people into cars, not enough are anymore.
I have to say that “cold air” kit should be called a hot air kit.
Wtf do u think a CAI does when the pcm controls all aspects of intake and outtake of a vehicle on newer fords? By the way ford built the oem intake as a cai...
For under $1k you could get a Cobb AP, FMIC, and Greenfilter and get a stage 2 tune (either Cobb OTS or pay for a flash tune). Catback is nice, but it doesn't really offer anything in terms of performance gains.
In my opinion, this exhaust is worth the install for sound and high end looks .... don’t even care about the slight performance improvement. All that other stuff doesn’t do anything for the day to day enjoyment and drive ability in traffic and such.
@@AutoEdits being able to pull away from cars you otherwise wouldnt... totally worth it
How much horse power you gets with those upgrades have installed???
Do you know around how many HP you gets with those upgrades???
We all wanna see Jeep videos again lol.
Jeep upgrades coming soon! LED lights, rocker armor and battery are some things
autoedit oh boy excited I finally installed my lift on my jeep looking to get an exhaust and drive shaft think I’m going to follow your footsteps.
Would this mod work on a 2014 Ford Focus
I think so.
Is this grovestreet?
Hey i know im late to the party but how’s the ST does so far ? Does it been reliable ? Thinking of buying one but im concern about the reliability !
He has been driving the crap out of the car and it has been perfect and he loves it!
AutoEdits happy to ear that . Eared some sad story about the reliability of those ST’s lately so i was wondering . Just a little bit septical
