ST
Would love to say RS, but can't due to its motor.
RS. The engine is a non issue, it was a manufacturing mistake early in production.
RS all day. However, please do a "so you want a fiesta ST"
RS
Let’s do “So u want Fiesta St” though !!
Great episode
YEEEEEEEESS PLEEEAAASEEE 😭
Yup
The motion is carried.
Isn’t it just a smaller motor st ? Generally curious
Fiesta is da besta
For those that want one or underestimate it, heres some notes:
Intercooler, downpipe, air filter, and aggressive tune for E30 will get you around 300whp and 400tq.
Add fueling upgrade to go E40-50 and bigger turbo gets you around 400whp+ and same for tq with more boost and power just past redline.
Add Built motor and its 500whp+.
Block hit over 700whp before blowing and its stronger than the rs block.
St1 package is lightest and 400whp+ can be made with about $4k-$5k without labor.
Wheel choices suck due to bolt pattern and body mods look awkward out side of lip kits.
Oh and if you stay stock turbo, its super quick and its the reason for torque steer, but it falls flat on its ass after 5000ish rpm and wont beat shit past 100mph so end the race before then lol. Feel free to hit me up with questions.
Do you recommend any intercoolers and downpipes? Currently looking for some.
Osvaldo Vasquez i got the altitude autowerks intercooler and the atp downpipe(catless).
@@streavel7 What tune are you running? So far I just have Cobb cai and rmm with there stage 1 tune. Looking to go stage 3 by the end of the year but havent figured out which parts to get.
Osvaldo Vasquez you need 1-step colder spark plugs to go with the fmic and downpipe. You should look into jst(current tune and im full bolt ons, bigger turbo, aux fuel, E50), edge, or freek tunes. Havent heard anything bad about those 3. And stay away from that pops and crackles bullshit. Its bad for the car and youll get good rumbles with the downpipe.
Osvaldo Vasquez oh and cobb tunes are insanely timid compared to a real custom tune.
You do the ST1 package a disservice. First off, not all ST buyers a narrow-assed 20-somethings. Mine was a retirement present to myself. Yes, I am 67 years old and the last time by butt fit a Recaro seat was when I was in the Army many decades ago. None of the gizmos and farkles offered in the ST2 and ST3 packages add to the performance of the car, but, the do add weight. I've been driving long enough to remember that having a radio with an FM capability was A Big Deal, so the additional electronics offered in the ST2 and ST3 packages are not that important. The ST1 has the rear camera (a great help to Us Of A Certain Age), can play my Ancient Rock Music that I store on my phone, has a nifty trip computer to keep me amused when traveling across Oklahoma or some such place, and most important, comfy seats for the long haul. Certainly the two deluxe packages are attractive, but I contend that potential buyers should not shun the ST1 as you suggest. But what do I know? I'm just an old retired gearhead.
I agree the cloth seats are 1000% better than leather. Super grippy and comfy. I don't need a fancy touch screen. I'm driving and banging gears.
Fantastic comment

I looked at the st3 when I bought my '18, but the recaros coming only in leather was a deal breaker. Leather seats in Florida summer is literal torture. So ST1 it was for me, no regrets.

*Angry VVT noises*
I have both
Oh man, with the old 3 piece aftermarket wings. Those things were awesome 🙌🏼
Lol ik this especially applies for me bc we have a SVT Focus
Yeah ... how can you forget the first ST ever created :D SVT/ST170
ford released a zx4 st sedan in the us around 04 when the svt went out of production, but nobody remembers them, because they looked almost identical to the ses on the exterior, but shared the same non EAP interior as the svt and had a 2.3L duratec tuned by cosworth instead of the 2.0 found in most foci of that generation.
Can't wait to see "So You Want a Ford Fiesta ST" There's surprisingly so little representation in the YT scene, for a such an amazing driver's car. Gonna be good to finally see a video break down of it from a big channel like you guys. Donut Media's slackin' when it comes to ST content.
Bought my 17 ST1 back in October of 17 and haven’t looked back since! Amazing platform for beginners when looking to mod !
Got a 13ST3 bought it new and love mine. Its tuned and running e30 with a few suspension mods and some rims and the car is a blast to drive. Approaching 60k trouble free miles and gonna give it to my son then I'm jumping in a 16 Audi S4.
Probably the best focus ST tribute I’ve ever watched
I love my Focus ST1, it's a super fun daily driver and still very practical. It's super fun to toss the car into corners or take it on a twisty road, and has enough power to be fun, but not enough to seriously jeopardize my life or license. I opted for the ST1 because I'm a pretty big dude and the cheap seats are more comfortable for us husky folk. As an added bonus, as terrible as Sync 1 is, it doesn't need the updates like sync 3 does...so it's a win?
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR!! THANK YOU
YOOOO my video made it in, at 10:52 the blue st, it’s still on my channel lmao
I love my Focus ST MK3 (pre facelift), BEST CATFISH
RemedyStorm I’ve gotta 2015 Focus SE and I wanna do an aggressive front facelift... #mandatory any suggestions...? I love the way these ST’ look and I want somethin similar
@@jahcousteauu_STAYinSHAPE You could get the bumper from an ST. For yours, any face-lift ST body parts are a direct swap.
Front splitter, canards, grill shave, aftermarket headlights, cup spoilers, etc. Depends how crazy and unique you want to get.
On Mine, I just have a grill shave and I removed the lower grill. Thinking about getting a front splitter.
RemedyStorm i thought it would be a direct swap/perfect fit...
I am planing to buy 1.6 150hp ecoboost. Are those engines reliable?

The ST is pretty cool in my opinion, really fun small car, modifiable if wanted or even powerful enough stock, can look very aggressive or very like a sleeper build

Awesome video, love my '16 ST2. Most fun I've driven for the price range and is my tuned daily.
I love my 13 ST3. Its been so much fun and perfectly reliable.
How many miles on it now and is it still reliable?
130k and hasn't missed a beat
I drive a Focus SE but I slapped on a catback exhaust and only run E85 and it's pretty fast for what it is. Surprisingly it has a 12:1 compression ratio on the standard ones which is neat
I just bought a 25k mile '16 Focus ST1 several days ago. I like it. It runs good and I am happier with it than I thought that I would be. It is a fun and playful car and it wasn't very expensive. Fuel mileage is good and I like the way it looks. It is a solid economy car that doesn't make you angry when you hit the accelerator.
I picked up a 2015 ST3 in magnetic grey this year. Super fun car, hot with some white fifteen52 wheels. Zero complaints so far.
I just bought a '16 Focust ST3 a few months back with 28k miles on it and man... I love this car, literally everything about it. I've been waiting for you guys to do an episode on this.
Well done!
Bought a 2017MY ST1 (tall with wide shoulders means no leather recaros, fun fact the cloth seats are still recaros) in September of 17, car was fun, quick, economical. I had the Ford Performance Tune, a Cobb rear motor mount, and MOST IMPORTANTLY a Quaife LSD installed. Completely transformed the car. 360 ft-lbs of torque and no torque steer. Handles far better and the on power grip mid-corner is incredible. If you own or are thinking about buying an ST, you need to consider adding a Quaife LSD to your plans.
Any time I hear of friends of mine looking at or buying STs I tell them the first two mods they need are the Quaife Differential, I sadly didn’t get mine until I was full bolt on with a GTX2867R gen2 turbo and meth injection. That LSD was the single best purchase I made.
So thanks to this video I now own a 16 focus st1!!! Do not regret going from RWD to FWD at all and the car is sooooo much fun!!!!! LOVE IT
Dakota’s edit is what brought me to buy my car as the tie breaker between the ‘17 SI
I have one and caught up with a 997 gt3 and we were on some back roads with him first. He tried pulling away and I stayed up with him most of the time, cornering was almost the same too, even surprised myself. Highly recommend these with premium fuel, plugs and mods.
That’s dope to hear! What do you all have done and are you up on our gallery?! -Edgar

I had one of the very first gen 1 Mazdaspeed3's and now have an ST3. They are very similar in stock form. MS3 slightly faster in a straight line, but the ST handles a little better, is a bit more refined, and you can run regular gas if you're willing to sacrifice 11HP (according to the manual) for a 30% savings in fuel cost. ST3 interior comes with those heated leather Recaro's which are wonderful if they fit you.
I have a 2014 Focus SE with 8ntake and exhaust on e85 and it's pretty quick and nimble. I love it
One of my most favorite YT series to date, great production quality and witty banter from Alex. However it still hurts my heart when he says the ST has dual exhaust, just a single boi that splits at the very end for dual tips
I love it just picked up a facelift ST-3 low mileage and cheap only thing I hate is filling it up
You should do a "so you want a pop/ crackle tune "?

Great channel guys. Keep up the good content!
Thank you!
Im 40 years old, my last kid just graduated HS and moved out... empty nester now, and what did I do to reward myself ???? Bought a 2015 St2. And love it to say the least !!! Even the wife Loves driving it, and yes I cringe every time she says , Going to the grocery store and taking Your car. 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Im 18 and if I had the money for one, I'd totally get one seeing as I'll have to get a Focus RS later on down the road
I own a 2017 ST ST3 package and just a few things come to mind after 10k miles:
1) The fuel tank is TINY.
You have 12-ish gallons (?), 10 of which are usable before the car keeps reminding you to fill up. Filling up all the time can get annoying.
2) It is extremely hard to heel toe, if not impossible.
The gas pedal is WAY lower than the brake so unless you are on the brakes hard, you are not blipping the throttle for a downshift. People claim they just roll their toe over but they must have superwide feet. You can buy a spacer to bring the pedal up even with the brake but doing so raises your knees about 1.5 inches. The seats don't have knee-support adjustment so it gets uncomfortable.
3) Things start to rattle.
I mean, this is not ST specific (every non-luxury car has rattles), but keep in mind. I had to smack a couple interior panels into the right place to get it to stop.
4) It is a drivers car.
Pros and cons. All my female passengers complain that their shoulders are squeezed in between the seats if they are on the shorter side. It is also a stiff ride stock. It is not unbearable especially if you are the driver, but for the passenger it is not a GT car.
5) You are going to want to modify this car.
Tuning the car with a $500 off the shelf tune/tuner gives a potential extra 100 lb/ft of torque and makes a HUGE difference, it really wakes the car up. The exhaust is silent on the outside (sound is piped into the cabin though). The premium Sony sound system is okay, can be better.
6) The trunk heats up.
No idea why. It is not insulated from the exhaust? It can gets pretty warm especially with the factory trunk space cover. The trunk has melted and spoiled a couple ice creams so far.
Still, an excellent car, 100% would still recommend. I've driven an M3 and this is akin to a mini-M3. It can keep up with the V6 muscle cars and the like.
My cons in life I wish I had female passengers to get into complain about something.
I’ve been wanting this car for over a year. And now I want it more!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good review mate.
Love my bagged FBO ST1. I got in it bc it was plenty fast for a daily, ton of aftermarket support, and it looks great for what it is. And now I have an absurd amount of money in it but 400lb-ft of torque doesn’t get old 🤘🏼
Clay Crooks what parts u have on it like brand names?
Martinez @clayboy_20 on Instagram there’s a build list and such if your interested! Just bought a stock turbo to send off the build the internals, should make for about 350-400 wheel horsepower with aux fuel
Tbh I’m not a big fan of instagram I’m more of Snapchat and what company u send ur turbo bay or something I’m full bolt on stage 3 tune on e30 by edge auto I was ganna do a waste gate accurater because I heard bad things bout hybrid turbo
Martinez there’s a bunch of guys on the st/rs forums that run them without any issues. I’m tuned by stratified and jst, full bolt ons as well with the aggressive torque mapping. Yeah I’m gonna go through turbo bay. If it blows it blows I’ll build the engine then, and run a g25-660
Makes sense I guess idk I had a Dsm 2g both Gst and gsx and evo 8 I remember how hard I had it when them always breaking on me I did big t28 and 16g on the dsm and I max out the turbo on my evo 8 with full e85 with 272 cam I made 389awhp but I see st after market Turbo a rip off I don’t think 2k it’s worth for such tiny gains imo
After having a 2013 focus st for 2 years here are 3 things that would have made the car 1000x better: ko4 rather than the ko3, 5x114 rather than 5x108, and better paint because the paint on them as well as most other fords basically falls off the car over time.
ST owner here and...
Best. Video. Ever.
I was literally looking at ST’s all weekend and he makes this video..
How about a, “So You Want a Cobalt SS.”
I thought it would be interesting since it has three different sub models.
Learned on a '95 Escort, daily for high school, college, and work. Mom dropped some subtle hints that I should buy a new car after 3 years of stable work and saving up, so in 2018 I did some research into modern hatchbacks. January of this year I pulled the trigger and bought a brand new FoST and I have not second-guessed the decision since. Every commute in this thing is a joy! Really, if it wasn't for my mom telling me to treat myself I'd have missed a gem.
Ohia Charles. Guess what. I'm getting an ST too xD
xCherry Danger how reliable are these cars?
@@ShinySeel_ OI, I never got notified of this comment! When you gettin' it?
@@edwiryinpolanco1609 Having owned mine for a year now I haven't had any issues with it. The most common fault with it is LSPI from people flooring it at under 2.5k rpms which blows the piston rings off and destroys the engine. You can't dog these cars in high gears at low rpms since they use small turbos. If you mash it in 1st or 2nd gear you'll be fine, but 3rd onwards keep the RPMs up before you give it the beans.
Having been in the forums often the most common faults are caused by people who are tuned and end up pushing their cars past their factory limits. If you leave it stock then you're fine. If you're going aftermarket then you better know what you're doing.
Also be very careful buying one second-hand because I've seen what people have done to theirs. Mods shorten the lifespans of them.
Fast forward 2 years later these things are holding value now like no other. They are fun cars I’ll never regret buying one.
I bought my 18’ ST3 three days before this video was uploaded. Best decision of my life, can’t imagine myself with anything else.

The ST sedan had the NA 2.3L duratec tuned by cosworth and made about 150hp. Ain't time yet, but I get the notion! my future mindset is on the GT, but I could definitely consider modding out a mustang eco performance (basically focus RS in a stang). A nice tune and exhaust and that thing will be sick.
Owned a 02 SVTF and a 13 focus st3. loved both...bought a 2013 wrx hatch ... and missed my st very much. I would buy another in a heartbeat.
Focus ST owner here, havent watched the video yet but I have a feeling it will make me giggle a bit.
Makes me want an ST now to daily while I build the s14 damn 🤔
If you get an ST just get the ST1. There’s no point in getting the upgrade unless you just REALLY want leather seats in the ST3. Just upgrade the radio system and you’ll be good
The St1 has junk seats though.
Big Yoshi Then go to a junk yard around your area and buy the st3 seats out of a wrecked or mechanical broken car. I did that and it cost me 500$ and 2 hours time.
@@andrewvanhook5006 who junks a car because of mechanical issues? 😂
I did the sync 3 swap and ST2 seats🤘🏻
Intercepting Fist Shit bro you would be surprised, I had a lady who tried to have her car hauled off to the junk yard because it wouldn’t start, literally was a dead battery. Some people are just stupid.
I have a 08 Subaru sti hatch and just picked up a 14 focus st as a “ gas saver” went stage 2 and it is a BLAST to drive. I live in the mountains and taking it out on the back roads is nothing but enjoyable. It’s not the fastest or the best way to get around a turn but definitely the funnest. The back end just wants to whip out like it’s a real wheel drive car. Again can’t beat it especially for the price! Want a fast car by a STI want a fun affordable car buy a ST.
still slamming them gears in this car and loving it the whole way!
