    Car Profile FAQ;
    - Why Maximum RPM and not Maximum Performance on the Fuel Test? This is because not everyone uses bumper so they can't see the rev range. They can however see the Bar and that's why we use that. It also gives you an indication at how good it is at saving fuel because when we go to shortshifting you can see the difference with saving fuel as well as the performance.
    - Why are you using Tyre Wear? This is because the official Balance of Performance is done using Fuel and Tyre wear so will be more accurate.
    - Why Optimum over Fastest Laps? Because it's easier to get 10 individual best sectors than to get 10 best laps. You could blitz a sector 3 1 lap and a sector 2 the next lap and combined they create the optimum lap and a better picture.
    - Why are you doing 10 laps? This is because after that I feel tyre wear and fuel becomes more impactful.
    - Why Racing Medium tyres? I use this tyre as it's the "Middle" tyre in racing compounds. I feel the cars should be MOST balanced on this tyre in my opinion
    - Why no RAIN Test? a Rain test would not give the full picture because light rain is different to medium and heavy and cars react differently in each of the variations. No test would be the same and so would not be very informative.
    - What does the number in brackets mean on the Fuel Tests? This is how much fuel was saved from the FM1 run. The bigger the number the more it saved.

    PD - "Old cars should be slower" translates to " we can't be arsed doing BOP on them" and I reckon around 1/3 of Gr3 are abandoned regarding BOP
    Maybe the ( silly get) Silhouette will be better 😂

    PD "philosophy" in BoP ... is ass backwards. If your goal is just to make everything uncompetitive based on year... then the entire exercise of putting more than 1 car in the category in pointless.

    Love these comparison videos. I want to love this car so badly, but you are correct. The under steer is prominent. I do feel better though. I used this car for the Time Trial last week and I managed to do a little bit better than your time from this video. I got a 2:03:093 🎉. I am a B rated driver for reference. Of course I was battling that track for a good hour to get that time.

    I really do love these comparison tests that you do,and appreciate the time it takes to do them.
    It’s Bathurst 12 hr weekend so I did my own custom 12hr race.
    In the hands of the A I that McLaren is a beast. It was consistently doing 1:59’s around Bathurst and was managing about 40 laps on a tank of fuel. All penalties active and set on professional level. Fuel and tyre wear at x1 and all other options set to real with random weather.
    I couldn’t match it and was only able to manage 2:02-03’s in the AMG(2016) so whilst I know you are rapid on GT7 it seems the A I are way better and somehow have a very good handle on a car that is pretty difficult to drive consistently fast.
    Keep up the good work mate.
    Your recent improvements/changes to your channel are kickin 👍🏼👍🏼.
    Love it.

    Damn, i liked this car so much in GT Sport... It was planted and despite low cornering speeds i could deliver consistent results. And when Monza or Le Mans were on the list in the Manu Cup - see ya guys :)
    I don't play Forza but it's really fun to see cars from different eras compete with each other. Polyphony could make it even cooler and it's sad to see that it actually regressed in that way.

      @@ghostlyrazgriz5228 there may have been a handful of BoP changes in between as well that nuked some cars. I remember many of the current non-meta cars having a lot more horsepower than they do now. Sometime after the first physics change many of them had a lot of power stripped from them

  • @bduddy55555

    I sorta get the policy of keeping these cars bad, because... If, hypothetically, every car had the same overall performance, then the manufacturers like McLaren that have more than 1 car would have an advantage over those that don't, because they would be able to change cars to better accommodate different tracks. It still sucks that great cars like this end up useless, but, I'm not really sure what else they could do.

    Really a shame that the older cars (save the Castrol Supra) are so far off the pace, even on tracks where they should theoretically have the advantage. Heck, Gr. 3 in general really needs a more significant BoP change. The last one only really seemed to help the newer cars, some of which were already respectable in performance

  • @kierann0
    @kierann0 Před 3 měsíci

    We could see that the Bop is more like a design choice than a real balance of performance, its just like PD pick some cars that are more popular and modern and gives it a great bop
    Like, the F1 could be a great rival for the Ford GT in straight lines, but the bop choice ruins everything
    I suppose the F1 should lose around 20/30 kilos to be able to take the corners better, if it's still not enough, give more power

  • @meta7gear
    @meta7gear Před 4 měsíci

    I disagree with Tidge's comments about wanting these cars to be bopped to be closer. The more cars PD need to juggle with BoP the worse overall it will suffer. Let these cars still be in the game ofcourse for casuals who want to drive around on their favorite car in offline races or private lobbies with tuning but don't overcomplicate the BoP by trying to balance another 15 cars

    I suspect Old cars needing to be slower is purely down to marketing. What would be the point of anyone choosing the Audi R8 LMS Evo (Which can be even turned into an Evo II) if the old one is just as fast or even faster? Why should anyone even consider the 2018 Nissan GT-R GT3 if the 2013 model is as good or even quicker? This gets magnified far more the older the car is so in the case of both the Aston Martin DBR9 AND the Mclaren F1 GTR, it would likely not be great marketing to have them either be equal or better then their more modern GT3 counterparts (by 2013-2015 standards). Notice also that all the older cars belong to Manufacturers currently active in the Manufacturers Series (The SIlouette and GT-R GT500 for Nissan, the DBR9 for Aston and the F1 GTR for Mclaren). The only exception appears to be the Castrol Supra and let's be frank, of course they weren't going to allow THE hero car of the very first game to be at the very bottom (Especially given who one of their partners is). Its not a mindset I or many would use but as I've had to live with over the years, PD do their own thing regardless if it makes sense to anyone else.

    If a BOP is purposely unbalancing a car due to it's characteristics (In this case age) then it is not fit for purpose. The whole idea of a BOP is to balance the pack not unbalance them. (Que Obi-Wan Kenobi meme) At least it has a place in offline mode where unBOP'd it is still the rocketship it is meant to be.

    Well according to Wiki this car competed in GT1 class of the 1995 BPR Global GT Series. So why on earth PD put it as a GT3 I'm baffled. Its true BHP was close to 600bhp and weight around 1100kg. You might think it would be put in a higher class and keep it's true weight and BHP!??

    • @TCR_PILOT
      @TCR_PILOT Před 4 měsíci

      @@neblolthecarnerd but is that a lot to do with BOP reducing the BHP by approximately 150bhp? Maybe these dated cars need to be in a separate class instead of chopping off a quarter of its BHP to put it in GT3. Or do like Tidgney says just redo the BOP so it's a second quicker than it's current form

    • @neblolthecarnerd
      @neblolthecarnerd Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@TCR_PILOT no. I'm on about driving the stock cars around. If you drive the F1 stock it'll be closer to boped gr3 times than boped GR2 times. Therefore it should make more sense to bop it down into gr3. I reckon it needs a power buff with bop though. Make it a straight line specialist again.

    Love this car but it has a HUGE ballast that fucks the car up completely vs its stock form which doesnt make any logical sense .
    Pull some power from it 600 hp is alot but it needs the weight removed and power left alone and the car would be competitive .
    There is no reason why the car cant be competitive now vs new car with updated tires and the lack of weight it has ..

      It's top 5 gr3 for tuned gt3... because its among the lightest at 1100kg and all gt3 get 788-790bhp with high rpm turbo. It has one of the best power to weight ratios. But with bop it's bad yes
