    It looks like the "to phones/CR" button is pre fader? How do you monitor and adjust volume of the channels when doing a mix minus over usb for a livestream or podcast? Do you have to monitor the CR for the mix minus and mains for the actual mix? Any tips or tricks on how to do that as a one man shop?

I would like to hear playback on my monitors/speakers not just headphones… is that possible with this Mackie board? BTW I’m attempting to use “Pro Tools first” the beginner version this mackie pro fx v3 that came with the board.

    I’ve been trying to get this to work with OBS, I basically added a second audio interface to do some vocal sidechaining, but perhaps with this, I can remove that second audio interface and go back to the original plan which was to run everything through the mackie mixer and let one channel side chain the second channel 🤔….

    So what if I want to play a backing track from my computer, sing to it,and then capture the mix (voice + backing track) from my mixer, so I can stream it for a live show? I am using an audible cable L-R plugged into the headphone jack of my computer and into line 4/5.

    • @hotpotatapie
      @hotpotatapie Před 3 lety +3

      On the ProFX10 you could accomplish this by loading your backing track into its own track in your DAW, (I use the free Pro Tools that came with the Mackie). Then plug headphones into your mixer 'phones out' and play the backing track in the DAW, hear it in the phones and adjust the volume. Now, create a new track in the DAW and arm it to record. Plug your mic into the mic input on the mixer. Hit Play in the DAW, hear the back track, sing and adjust your gain to not saturate the main meters. Then stop, make sure the DAW is idling at the beginning of the tracks, hit Record in the DAW and sing/record your vocals singing to the back track. Finish and save it. Then export a mix of the 2 tracks, i.e. bounce a mix.wav or mix.mp3.
      Hope it works for you, there are other ways to do it, but this way you can adjust the vocals independent of the backing track before bouncing. Peace!

    Maybe I took the short bus to school, but how do I get a USB signal from the computer to the main outs for a hybrid Teams meeting (main outs go to a powered PA in the meeting room) without getting the echo feedback loop? If I select USB 3/4 and the signal goes to the mains into the PA so people in the room can hear the online people, doesn't it also go back through the USB back to the computer causing the feedback loop?

    • @expertisland
      @expertisland  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Plug the PA system in to the Monitor output of the Mixer then us channel 3/4 on the PC audio to the Mixer then on the Mixer on turn up the Monitor level on 9/10 for the USB audio. set the levels of the meet room to the broadcast.

    Hi. I have a Profx10v3 but am only familiar with recording via an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra. When I record with the M-Audio, I first launch its "virtual mixer." Before I even start Cakewalk, I verify the instrument signal in my speakers (or mic signal in my phones with the speakers powered off). Next I pull the virtual faders ALL the way down. This is how I ensure I will ONLY hear the mic/instrument during recording IF real-time monitoring is on (Cakewalk calls this "Input Echo"). Essentially, I ONLY want to hear what the computer hears during recording (like you said). Should I have the speakers plugged into the "Main" or the "Control Room" outputs to do this with the Mackie? No matter what I try, when using the Mackie I hear the signal even if real-time monitoring (input echo) is off. Thanks!

    • @expertisland
      @expertisland  Před 3 lety +1

      Send the audio from the Software back to the mixer via CH1 & CH2, turn the blend knob to ch1/2 push in the button under the blend (TO PHONES/CR) plug your monitors into the control room outputs or use your headphones. You are now lessening to the audio from the PC.

I found the Fastrack Ultra to have very low latency and decent sound quality, not quite as good as Roland but still good. The only issue I had with the FT was the blue screen issues with Windows due to unsupported driver but apart from that it was excellent.

      Check if your usb ports are USB 2.0 or 3.0, match it with the supported USB type listed on the vendor website / product specification , if you have more USB port of the same supported type try to change it. Check that all the drivers and required software are installed. Maybe you have a damaged cable and changing it will fix the issue. if you can see any error messages try to google them, if none of the above works you could try to contact customer support either directly or contacting the third party vendor you bought the device from

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for my audio interface (mackie profx6v3) several times so I don't think this is the source of the problem. I have my interface selected as my playback device and I have the Mackie ASIO Driver selected for input/output in FL Studio. I also have selected the audio interface as the output target on the master channel in FL.
    If I route the audio to my headphones from my interface I get a signal and can hear the audio playing, however there is no signal on the main meters and no sound whatsoever when I try to route the audio to my main outs. I have balanced XLR male to female cables connected from my left and right main outs to my left and right studio monitors respectively. I have switched the input sensitivity to +4dBu since both my speakers and interface support it and my cables are balanced. Everything is brand new and I am running out of solutions to try.
