    That’s a great comprehensive review on a product I was already leaning towards getting! Seems to have all the bells and whistles and being 24bit/192khz, it can totally replace your focusrite, steinberg, etc. Most of these smaller units are 16 bit. I think it’s important to note that with the USB, this is also a perfect unit to use with your IPad, as many of us use these days. Looking very forward to picking one of these up!

    I have been looking at one of these for a few days now to replace my Scarlett Solo interface that I’ve had for years and after looking at Reverb, Guitar Center etc they were all $150 or more with shipping when used and over $200 with shipping brand new. I randomly found one in perfect condition at an online store that’s closing down for $109 with free shipping and I was so excited. I’m looking forward to finally recording in stereo and with the Harp being such a tricky instrument to track and capture, I’m super eager to see what all it can do once it arrives Friday! ❤

    Hi. Great Vid. I’m an old Mackie Fan from non stop gigs in the 90’s-early 00’s. Dumb Question: does the Pro Tools software come as a separate item in the box such as USB/CD, or is it literally built into the unit and activates itself once connected via USB to my laptop? Looking to buy one for Audio Interface purposes. Thanks

    My current interface has live monitoring, but you can't adjust the volume of the input channels when live monitoring. Do you know if I can do that with this unit?
    The preamp for the guitar is ridiculously loud, and the preamp for the phantom powered mic is low. So I can't hear myself.... it's super frustrating

  • @callmedeno
    @callmedeno Před 3 lety

    And so you are hearing that through your headphones with effects with no delay? It doesn't have to go into the computer? Also would it be possible to plug in outboard gear, like a pre or compressor in before this without using preamps?

  • @KipCount

    So if using strictly as a mixer before a PA in live usage, the Blend knob should be all the way to "Inputs", and for recording, all the way to "USB 1-2" (unless you want to direct monitor in which case you'd blend)?

    Is it possible to only use one of the “main outs” into an input channel of a mixing board?
    I have a mic going into channel 1 and a Roland Handsonic going into channel 2 of the mackie. But from this mackie I need to then run to the band’s master PA. The problem is they only have one input left for me to plug into. If I run just one main out from the left or right channel of the mackie, will the full signal of both the mic and handsonic run to the PA? Or should I perhaps use the “phones” jack instead?

    I’m on the fence with this. I’ve always used MOTU interfaces AND I’ve always had Mackie mixers. I’m looking at the MOTU M2 as well. I won’t ever use the inputs on either device ( Sold off most of my hardware and synths last year) BUT I’m looking to use a pair of JBL powered speakers that have XLR inputs. The bus power and footprint of the MOTU is nice but it has only unbalanced outs. The Mackie is cheaper than the MOTU and has the XLR’s. It also has mixing options if I ever change my current setup. Decisions, decisions.

    Hello, thanks for this review. My comment is about the USB function. I just tried to connect my Samsung S22 phone using a USB C to B cable into this mixer, then played music on the phone. Well, I can hear the music just great through HEADPHONES but no matter what button or knob I tweak, I just CANNOT play the music on my PA speaker which is connected to the Main Outputs. Duh. I guess I'll keep experimenting. Though, the last time I experimented, I was able to record the Mixer's output on Cakewalk and also listen to loopback using USB 3-4. I suspect cell phones aren't as smart as laptops, haha! But how come the sound comes through great via headphones!!!???

    Hey thanks for the video, I got this mixer as it was recommended by my dad who had one. I use maschine software and couldn't get the audio interface to work how I wanted. Basically, I wanted to use the Profx's built in audio interface, record through channels one and two and use the main outs for my studio monitors. Using the 3-4 usb button will route your PC audio into back into channel 3 and 4 and out the mains, but when I tried to record through just channel 1, it picks up the 3/4 PC audio as well and my audio that was just supposed to be guitar also had the rest of the beat and drums at the same time. Lame. I guess just using this as a mixer and putting the outs into the input of the Maschine Mk3's mixer will work fine, but it's not what I understood was possible with this. I don't think a mixer with a built-in audio interface can ever be a true replacement for a standalone audio interface for this reason. But boy, these preamps are seriously amazing! And the effects are nice to have as well.

    I'm kinda confused by this (and other mixers). It says it's 6 channels, but to me that's confusing. Channel 1 & 2 are stereo inputs, right? Then channels 3 & 4 are two mono 1/8" inputs, and channels 5 & 6 is one stereo 3.5mm input. Right? So if I think about 'input sources', which in my mind is what I mean by 'channels' in a way, it's one 4 'channels'. I guess there's the USB inputs too, but just thinking of the ones on top of the mixer, to me it seems like 4 'inputs'. Am I right in thinking about it in this way? Cheers!

    • @phantomflame0658
      @phantomflame0658 Před 2 lety +1

      Ch1 and Ch2 are the main channels you use with microphones, these have the most functions and controls. They are mono inputs and are independent of each other (except the "stereo pan" which combines them. Ch3/4 is a stereo input (left + right), and the output will also be in stereo. Ch 5/6 is another stereo input, exactly like 3/4, just a different connector. This is convenient to plugging your phone in with an aux cord. For this channel, i believe it also works as a headphone out, for when you use a headset (headphone and mic attached), and I'm guessing this due to the little headphone symbol.
      It's called a 6 channel, because its able to mix 6 audio sources at once and output all of this to the PC as a stereo in. Mono (1) + Mono (2) + Stereo (3 and 4) + Stereo (5 and 6)
      I want to get this mixer myself, it looks like the perfect beginner mixer with 24bit USB interface that ill use for recording electric guitar and voice chat. I hope it has enough juice to power an MXL r144 ribbon mic though!

    I'm wondering if you can help me? I just purchased this mixer and i absolutely love it! My question is this... I know how to hook it up to my phone so i can stream on other apps without needing to USB it through my computer. What I want to do is to be able to hear other people when they come into a box or whatever to talk to me, like when you can add a guest on Facebook live. My problem is i have to switch my Bluetooth earbuds and I'm wanting to just use the headphones i already have plugged into the unit, how can i accomplish this? Thank you

      you are trying to set up a "mix minus" using an iRig XLR adapter on your phone via USB-C or whatever your phone has will work with your mixer and hear other people. here is the link for the iRig on Amazon amzn.to/43zIPcc

      no problem there plug both L&R from the mixer to the1 speaker, so you get mixed stereo sound in the one speaker.

    One thing I wish it had would be an FX memory for the last setting. If you turn the unit off and then back on it defaults back to the first effect. Kind of annoying when using this for live mixer and you have to always remember to pull up the effect you want for your live sound.

    • @steviej.seeley3056
      @steviej.seeley3056 Před rokem

      Hi Dave. That's weird. Mine holds the FX memory. It has been on "3" for years. Dial in the effect you want then Push the FX dial down to select and hold your setting.

    I'm using this for my live gigs. If I use the channel 3 for my guitar (I use 1 for mic and 2 for my keyboard), the sound of the guitar only comes out from one of the speakers only. How do I get it to work so I get the guitar coming out of both speakers?? Does anyone know?

    Hello and thanks mucho for this! The manual that ships is basically a combo of all their mixers and not very helpful. I am a drummer primarily (!) so...
    I'm not a gear head and never been much for soundboards and mixing. I don't understand how the button works for the effects and would love more info on that. Can you do different effects on different channels? This is not beginner level stuff, but was still very helpful!

      Most mixers have only 1 FX processor with lots of options, but because there is only 1 FX processor you can only add 1 type of fx to 1ch or as many as you want, but they will all have the same FX added.
      there are some mixers with 2 or dual FX options, and for BIG Money the high end you can add even more.
