That doesn't make sense when he will be 28 by then. Oh have Kirk play 2 years then trade him? The point of drafting a young quarterback is the salary, and build up around him. If you trade Kirk you will have a 40 million dollar cap hit negating any benefits of starting Penix. This move was idiotic and that might be an understatement.

    Kiems Worthy comparison to DeSean Jackson is exactly why he's on the Herd with Collin instead of General Managing a team.. DeSean Jackson had amazing start and stop quickness not just straight line speed. Plus D-Jack was the best punt returner in the draft.

      So does Worthy 😂 Worthy is the best returner in this draft, too. Even better vertical speed. 3rd most productive college receiver the last 3 seasons. 2700 plus yards and 26 touchdowns. Dude put up 950+ and 12 TDs as a true freshman, he is a baller. Devonta Smith is also rail thin. Worthy is a blend of both. He’s in the perfect situation with the Chiefs. I bet Worthy is a top 10 receiver after year 2.

    As an Atlanta native and born falcons fan.. I didn’t mind the pick, because we are investing in the future. I just don’t understand it from a coach and gm perspective.. you may only get 2-3 years so you might not ever see that potential develop. If I’m a coach I’m winning bump the future

    If you’re worried about a 35-year-old quarterback coming off an Achilles why did you sign him?

    If ATL wanted a Stop Gap QB - then Minshew signed for 2 yrs / $25m and last year Baker Mayfield played for $4m!! Flacco out there...others...MUCH cheaper stop gap qb options...truth is ATL either had $$ to burn and Did Not Care...or decided on Penix as a very late/last minute type decision and said "F" it lets do it anyway

    Man. I don't care how many people try to dice this. I will never believe that having kirk and Penix is a smart move. Keep kirk and pick bpa or use money to get more players and get Penix. Penix going there wouldn't be as egregious if they did the latter

  • @Master_of_sum
    @Master_of_sum Před 18 dny

    If everything you said is true of Penix… why not just take him and have him start? And get the benefit of the rookie deal? Now you’re paying a combined 55 Mil for two guys and will never get benefit of that rookie deal

    If Penix is this good already and ready to contribute then signing Kirk Cousins was redundant. Either the Falcons are going to have a guy making 100M guaranteed sitting on the bench or they are going to be wasting valuable cheap years of a rookie scale QB contract for a guy that Colin is claiming to be pro ready. I mean it makes no sense.

    I’ll take a system QB that wins over a great deep ball thrower every day of the week. Brady was and some still call him a system QB or a game manager. With 9 rings I will take that over Aaron’s skill set with one ring.

  • @Laotzu819
    @Laotzu819 Před 18 dny

    How do you know you can't teach a QB to throw a better deep ball? Your a talking head, not a QB coach. You've been banging on Tua for a while. He was the #2 pick, starting for the Dolphins and he will be better this year than last year, which was pretty good.

    Colin casually throwing in that he was hanging out with his new bf, Kyler Murray, and that he once physically entered a draft room.

  • @christopherhallmon8595

    Cousins better show up to camp ready to compete! Penix will be gunning for the job!
    Cousins is old and returning from injury and has never lead any team to greater things! They acquired him needing a qb to fill a void! After the draft pick, all bets are off!
    The organization is not obligated to tell Cousins anything and discussions regarding “business “ money is not our concern!
    Cousins might be the highest paid backup in the league carrying a clip board!!!!
    You under estimate the jewel that is the player!!!!

    If Cousins was already the Falcons QB for years then this makes sense but he hasn’t played a down. He’s a 90 million cap hit and getting 100 million guaranteed the next three years. Penix will be 27 learning the game. Nobody learns on the bench.
