A couple thoughts in general from this segment:
1. Boy has this become one of my favorite NFL general talk shows in general, especially with your great on-set chemistry. I hope you get to supplant other below-average talk shows in the NFL/ESPN :)
2. Considering how the Bears have been pretty unsuccessful at developing QBs in the past decade, I'm definitely in the "wait and see" mode to see how Caleb ends up being in the NFL. At the moment, I think Nick is a bit too much on the hype train with Caleb Williams...

I’ll say this, Caleb has some good weapons around him. DJ Moore and Keenan Allen are proven veterans and Rome Odunze seems like an excellent prospect.
True. Imagine what Justin Fields could have done with those receivers. D.J. Moore had a career season with Fields as his QB. Caleb Williams has never played in the NFL and is suggesting, expecting and promising too much. I wish he would verbalize his desire to be a playoff team instead of guaranteeing it.
Cole Kmet was also an underrated security blanket for Fields, and they've got a decent running back room to take some heat off the passing game. I just don't know that the offensive line-which for years was the biggest detriment to Fields' development-has improved that much. Caleb might be running for his life a little bit.
Come January, should the Bear miss the playoffs, the excuses will be the Bears never gave him weapons.
I can’t believe we are at the time in society where stating the obvious gets likes
@@johnbox271 that is completely untrue. He comes to a team with weapons in place, something that JF NEVER had. JF had Kmet and DJ added to the mix for 1 year. A decent ground game. So yeah we can say that for JF, but not for CW. Ground game is improved with the addition of Swift, then added ANOTHER future HOF WR in Allen to DJ already in place, then give him a rookie WR in Odunze. CW has the weapons in place, so that is not even going to be a spark to a debate if the floor comes out from under them.
We need to appreciate the greatness of this show
It’s definitely living up to immortality 🙌
Probably the best rn by a margin
The biggest miss is we're talking about a brand-new offensive coordinator installing a brand-new offense with a receiving core who have never played together or with their rookie QB. I think the Bears have a lot of potential, but expecting it to just come together instantly is a bit much.
Ummmm, Waldron is not a brand new OC, he was the OC in Seattle which turned around Geno from a bust to the kid can do it. He is new to the Bears organization, but he is a proven OC. Learn about which you speak about first.
@@MeetTheSLAYERI actually think he meant, brand new to the Bears. I think he's right, can't expect for it to be a hit right away.

2:32 is the hardest I've laughed in a week
I don't remember CJ Stroud running his mouth like Caleb Williams. In fact I don't remember any successful NFL QBs who were known for running their mouth.
Facts
Because he ain’t gonna be a good qb
To be fair he didn’t leak it to the media. The kicker did… but I don’t believe he’s going to be an all time great either lol
Tom Brady? Aaron Rodgers? Cam Newton?
You heard nothing from Stroud and he's all of a sudden top 10 qb
Nick is 100% correct
Here’s Caleb Williams’s defensive rankings when he started games:
2021: 60th
2022: 94th
2023: 116th
it progressively got worse under Lincoln Riley. Caleb ran for his life on 80% of the offense snaps, with the mindset of “I gotta score on every possession or else we’re losing the game” so he goes for near hail marys every possession.
Here’s Patrick Mahomes’s defensive rankings when he started (college)
2014: 84th
2015: 122nd
2016: 126th
this is all while maintaining high yard and TD average in the (back then weak) Big-12. he lost his OL the last year I believe just like Caleb Williams did.
Caleb boutta realize quickly how bad the PAC-12 defenses were
You run for your life because you are slow at reading defenses. It's why he holds the ball all day. He's slow at reading the defense. You hold the ball all day in the NFL you'll be Russ. Getting sacked 50+ times a year.
Caleb is NOT Mahomes 😂😂 Mahomes also sat for a year before starting and is in a much easier division
@@larrylindgren9484wrong yet again. oh well. Patrick Mahomes I guess took too long to read a defense in half the games this year
None of that means anything anymore lol the NFL vs College is completely different. Nick is absolutely wrong lmao it’s not going to be easier for him lmao. He was always not running for his life is you watch a lot of his tape from his career in college you can see him leaving the pocket and and doing a lot in the pocket and not throwing to guys that are open. I don’t coach or play at USC so idk I where those guys are on his read progression but they are one and instead he spins eludes two guys to find another guy or the same guy open again lol
Bears fan here. Bears got an elite prospect from college since arguably Trevor Lawrence. Team was 7-10. Great defense. Poles has been the architect of the this team. We’ll be fine. Definitely making the playoffs
Brou face @2:32= hilariously priceless 🤣🤣🤣 A++ episode today gents keep up the solid work HOW BOUT THOSE CHIIEEEEEFFSSS‼️‼️‼️
He'll be punting a LOT if Caleb is playing. He's going to be the biggest bust in NFL history.
Bo Nix is the best quarterback in this draft class. He'll take Denver to the playoffs.
Caleb will appreciate his defense just getting a few stops 😂
Nix is not as bad as people want to make him seen, and he played in a system similar to what Payton likes to call.
True, but he is not great, he is good though and is a fit for Sean Payton's offensive scheme.
@@MeetTheSLAYER is Caleb Williams great? Based on stats and efficiency bo nix is top of the list yet people love to put him down. He's going to prove a lot of the haters wrong this year just like Stroud did last year. These pundits have no idea what they're talking about.
brou wont believe how good caleb is until he sees it
I was completely against CW being drafted by the Bears. I watched college games, then about 2 months ago I went back and watch the game films for CW. That alone changed my mind on the kid. He has the tools to do the job. Now if the Bears can actually develop a QB, which they have not done in almost 100 years.
I think this is Nick's worst take... the talent on both sides of the ball improves dramatically. Windows are so much tighter, coaching is all around better. I'm not saying he won't be good, but I think this is a terrible argument.
Playing with better teammates could mean better protection, more open receivers and he doesnt have to score 40 to win
Especially when you start to compare him to someone like Stroud.
People like to highlight how good CJ's base mechanics are with his footwork and how great his arm proved to be in terms of both power and accuracy, but the thing that REALLY separated CJ as a rookie was how well he reads defenses. The guy was picking up the habits of veteran defensive players and using that to sniff out coverages which is bananas for a rookie QB.
I also think Caleb could wind up being a good or even great QB, but we really need to see him against NFL defenses. USC didn't play that many great defensive teams in the Pac-12 and I don't think he ever confronted one of the vaunted SEC defenses that are about as close to NFL caliber as college defenses can get.
He absolutely has the physical toolset to be great, but you can't judge him properly until he's playing against NFL defenses. He could flourish, but he could also really struggle against some solid defenses up and down that schedule.
Windows are tighter? Anyone else think that the last couple of decades of rules changes, making it an affront to God to tough receivers and QBs, has led to TIGHTER throwing windows? 🤣 You can drive a truck through those windows now.
And let's not pretend that these coaches know so much more than previous generations. They were simply brought up within a different set of parameters. Tom Landry could have run the offenses they do now. It just would have gotten his QBs and receivers killed back then. Coaching changes to reflect the current realities of the game. And those realities are why certain schemes can no longer be run.
Oh Nick has already had his 2 worst takes I think anyone has made lol
1. Saying the Chiefs were going Undefeated last year … 💀 (sure he was right about them winning the SB but he still said Undefeated so he was dead wrong)
2.Saying the Texans made a devastating mistake when we drafted CJ and moved up for Anderson… 💀
I don’t think anything will beat those 2 tbh 💀
@@Im_On_Pluto lolol fair enough
Caleb had to score every single drive for USC to win games. Ebreflus has his cover 2 defense built. and a punter to control field position.
This man will single handedly make me hate Caleb and root for Bo Nix by the time the season is over.
If this is all it takes, then you are a weak minded individual .
you can say there's not been a great qb college about most of if not all the elite qbs in the nfl..burrow at lsu, mahomes at Texas tech, Josh Allen at Wyoming, lamar at Louisville..list goes on
I will die laughing when caleb is a head case this yr😂😂😂😂

@@w00deey12good question
Caleb talks like he think he’s in the movie. The punter text sounds like he’s pre preparing for the documentary about his career
OR a reality based take on it, Caleb is aspiring for greatness. IF you do not have great dreams, you will never accomplish greatness.
Are we really covering a private text from a teammate? If this was any other player this wouldn’t even get covered. I love Brou but come on, this was a private text to a new teammate - completely ridiculous
I disagree, if anyone any other QB said that and it was made public someone would cover it and opposing teams/players would use it as bulletin board material.
It's just a jumping off point to talk about the number one pick, it's the offseason calm down
The dude freely shared the text tho
That was shared on social media…

I’m a huge fan. I can do without all the loud proclamations from Caleb. I prefer silent assassins. However, I’ll never have a problem with it if the guy can back it up. We’ll see.
Hasn't played a minute in the NFL and the ego is already taking over.
Not ego, confidence. If you can't tell the difference that's on you
@@matthewciolak3273 It's definitely ego and the fact that you mistake it for confidence is hilarious and on you.
The kids confidence is a mile high, which I for one do not blame him for. He is going to a team with 2 future HOF WR, one of the best WR coming out of college, 2 TE's that can block and catch the ball, and an improved RB room, with a D that was top 5 in the back end of the season. So yeah, he has confidence. Learn how to read people.
@@throbbinglobbies he didn’t even say anything about himself. He just has confidence in the offense. Not too hard to understand
And it will inevitably lead to problems. I can see it now: the Bears offense is mediocre and Caleb thinks it’s everyone’s fault but his own’s
I said it before. Caleb will be around 24-28 TDs, 3400-3700 yds and have about 10-15 ints.
That’s too many picks
I think your numbers are pretty accurate. He could be 15+ picks
He won't throw that many picks.
I’d guess that too and I’d be ecstatic! Haha
@josenunez611 I dont think he is as good as Andrew Luck and Luck had 4300 yds, 23 Tds and 18 picks his rookie year.

Stolen from religious text
Didn't Payton want Mahomes. He saw something that only Andy Reid did before he was drafted.
It was actually Brett Veach who scouted Mahomes & kept sending Andy his highlights.
The day one grades for the Mahomes pick back in 2017 was a C+ to B+. No one thought it was a homerun pick at 10. Initial views of Mahomes was he is talented, but sloppy. He still is a bit sloppy, but we can see the benefit he had working with Reid and a well run team. It's hard to know what you're getting at QB in the NFL unless they're a flawless prospect like Luck or Elway.
Yeah, the Saints picked 11th in 2017, so the Chiefs had to cut them in line in order to get Mahomes
At least Williams has a sense of humor
No BS, Tory Taylor is going to be the Bears top 5 offensive and defensive asset.
The cornerback and safety play between college and NFL is the largest jump imo. I don’t wish failure on anyone but I think he’ll be surprised the the tighter windows and better coverage his receivers will face vs. college
Sean Payton had prime Drew Brees in a dome. What’s the proof he’s some offensive guru ?
Brou is spot on !
The Brou claw😂
The bear claw is dope conceptually...I saw photos of him doing it and ummm yeah - no lol.
Late to the party here, but Sean Payton was high on Mahomes coming out in 2017. As far as the argument of his evaluation of QBs goes. He talked a little bit about it on The Herd, where he was going to take Mahomes at 11 before KC jumped ahead of them.
Mahomes actually referenced this on The New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce. Saying he essentially tipped off KC to New Orleans' interest. So, KC knew where to trade up to get him.
Really took bo nix 12th 😭🤣🤣🤣
Nick was cooking at the end
I have absolutely no expectations. Been disappointed too many times. Expectations. Bring disappointment.
I swear you’d think that someone who gets paid to do this would come up with something better than something as dumb as who was the last great QB nonsense. Before Manning who was the last great QB to come out of Tennessee. Before Rogers who was the last great QB to come out of Cal. Before Mahomes who was the last great QB to come out of Texas Tech. Conversely by that logic then every Stanford or Perdue QB should go #1 because of Plunkett, Elway, Luck, Grese, Dawson & Drew Bresee. Anytime I hear someone say something so ignorant as that I just stop listening because everything after had ZERO credibility.
The Bears still need to add a couple of top tier offensive lineman to complete the offensive package
Okay but say the same thing about Jayden Daniel's on the age thing 🤷♂️
Caleb just spells disaster right now
I hate that “what’s the last great qb to come out of usc argument” it makes no sense. Burrow was the first good lsu qb, strouds the first good Ohio state qb, Herbert is the first good Oregon qb, Dak is the first good Mississippi state qb. There is really no college with a bunch of good nfl QBs. Not one
The bear claw?? You mean the exact claw Baylor University has done since at least the 80s
Caleb sets his expectations and works to achieve it like he’ll achieve it, not skipping steps. Should listen to that podcast he did before the draft. He’s ambitious and confident, not arrogant. He seems to have good coping mechanisms ti adjust when things don’t go the ideal way. It doesn’t mean he’s not going to aim for the ideal
Theres a difference between being confident and arrogant.
he is nit gonna change much!
Why are yall mad at him for being confident in himself??? This unwarranted hate for him is ridiculous, im his age and we are kids compared to half of yall saying the foul stuff about him, start acting your age
Brou and other old guys are criticizing Caleb Williams for having any personality at all.
I love how Sean is the one being questioned after last years. He'll get Bo where he needs to be and Bo is already better than Pickett
Did teams in the PAC 12 put 11 men on the field for defense? Were they even aware that when on defense the goal is to stop the other team from scoring? I think the NFL is going to be a bit tougher.
Better stats than Caleb Williams but Nix can’t get better 😂😂 do they hear what they say?
I don’t see what’s wrong with having confidence he’s not disrespecting anyone what u want him to say we gonna lose every game
I think Caleb is correct that they aren’t going to punt much, but it’s going to be because he’s going to be turning the ball over so much.
Whether you think he’ll over or under achieve. I don’t really agree with people getting upset about his text to the Bears new rookie punter. “Not going to punt too much here” is a standard/goal every QB and offense should be striving for 😂.
Payton drafted all those quarterbacks late while Brees was in his prime. That’s not fair. He LOVED Mahomes and should’ve moved up
The people who are mad at Rodgers for being arrogant are also the same people who love Williams

NFL for QBs is so much easier than college cause you can’t really tackle the qb cause so many tackles are now flagged
Worrying about the age of a qb is asinine. Avg life span of a qb is 3.5 years and the hardest position to find. Age should be meaningless unless you have a 35 yr old getting drafted
Not sure why the Talking Heads hate Nix. Watch the tape. He was really good last year. He was better than Williams. I think he'll run the offense well in Denver. He gets the ball out of his hand. Something Williams only does when he fumbles it. He's like JJ. A higher floor but a lower ceiling. They both play 15 years. Williams might not. His floor is a bust. Nix and JJ's floor is not bust. I willing to bet both have long careers. Maybe no better but longer.

Why are they talking about Bo Nix and not JJ McCarthy?
Because of the broncos

Nick should be too wise to make these statements. No way your 1st year in NFL is easier than your last year in college... you may have a better coach, better WR's etc... but the defensive pressure and film study and pressure is way more.. not saying Williams can't over come it, but it can't be easier..
