One of the BEST instructional videos on the internet!!!! 🎯 I LOVE your voice and speed of explaining what you are talking about including pictures and different angels.... Wow! Great job and THANK YOU!!!! 🥰
Oh the memories working on these Cinema displays, I have owned three and loved them, moved on to the Studio Display now but still have my last Cinema Display at the office.
fantastic - most of this applicable for the opening/raising of LED screen - and connections - for the previous 27" apple LED display with just the three USB ports and its all in one cable. thank you
I just got a used one that had a small chip in the glass and moisture had gotten in and fogged up the top of the display, this helped me immediately! thanks so much man.
I found your video because I was planning to open mine to clean it from dust (I assume, after 14 years..). But seeing the risk, I think I will refrain. I still use it in combination with macpro from 2009. Nice video though!
Looks like the thunderbolt versions got some real issues with the internal cable. Plus a pain in the ass to change it. If Apple had chosen to have a removable cable instead, there would be no need for this complicated surgery. I happen to have the Apple Cinema Display 27'' 2010 model and my only issues so far, after 11 years of working with it, is the problematic mini display ports on the internal graphics card. Other than that, these are certainly great screens.
Vincent, great video man! Could you possibly add the cable you found on Amazon in the description as link please? I’d really appreciate it as I have 2 of these with the same issue. Thank You
I have also a Thunderbolt Display, but when working for 4 hour, i feel hot behind and so hot in thunderbolt plug in, then it not working for one day, after one day, it working back, do you come the same, thanks you
Hi Vincent, Thanks for your great tutorial video. Could this cable fix the verticals stripes in all the screen of the Apple Thunderbolt Display, ?(I can hear only the sound) If not, does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
@vicent hola buen tutorial espero leas este comentario , ayuda necesito conseguir todo cable de cinema display , podrias ayudarme a conseguirlo , gracias
Hi Vincent great teardown, question could this repair be performed on the 24" cinema display which is similar to the 27" plus are the cords compatible, I believe they are would love to hear your reply. Thank you!
Hey Erick, the only difference is the physical cable - I was not having any other symptoms, but I would bet the connection would deteriorate if you don’t replace the cable eventually.
Hi Vincent, very informative. Any suggestions on where to take a 27" Apple Cinema Display for repair? Mine hissed and smoked (came out of the place where the base/support meets the back of the housing, didn't smell like a burning resistor) and Apple has retired it because they can't get/don't make parts anymore. After the hiss and smoke, the display went dark, so based on the location of the power cord, I'm guessing it might be the power supply. Any ideas? I'd appreciate the help.

thank you for making this. It gave my display a new life and probably prevented several broken connectors.

Please note, this is the later Apple LED Cinema Display. The teardown will NOT help you, if you have an actual Apple Cinema Display.
Correct.
I own one that cuts out intermittently. It’s display is perfect and I don’t know if I should replace the ps or mobo
@Sceleratus Have a link to power supply board parts?
Wonderful video! thank a lot man
This is a long shot. Have you ever repaired the camera in the old Cinema Display as mine has stopped working?
Vincent, great video man! Could you possibly add the cable you found on Amazon in the description as link please? I’d really appreciate it as I have 2 of these with the same issue. Thank You

Sorry, I have not done this process on a 24 inch, so I cannot confirm. I would check ifixit if they have a guide.
Hey Vincent, great video, thanks. Could you please let us know what symptoms your display shows to you decide change that cable?

@@VincentStevenson Thanks for your super fast answer. I'm having some issues with my Thunderbolt Display and I was wondering if it could be the cable.

Does anyone know how to fix a buzzing sound in the Apple Thunderbolt Display? The sound increases when I turn up the brightness.
Great video!! Thanks for all the details! Where can I get the cable ?
I got the replacement cable from Amazon and it was less than $20.
@Bernardo Luca, This cable worked for me - amzn.to/36GRHlD
Is there a way to replace the Thunderbolt and MagSafe cable with a USB-C cable?
There are other videos on CZcams, but its quite more involvement.
What model number is this? I have 2010 A1316 that doesn’t wanna turn in via apple adapter (49$) thunderbolt 3 to TB2
He calls it a Cinema Display. It is not an A1316. It is an A1407. The adapter you need for your A1316 is a Mini DisplayPort to Thunderbolt 3 (USB C).
This looks like the thunderbolt display and not cinema display.
Correct he has an A1407 Thunderbolt display not Mini DisplayPort Cinema Display A1316
Do you get sound without the USB cable?
No
