    Thank you for this tutorial. I had no idea the retention clip on the LCD ribbon cable comes off. When I reinstalled the LCD, the cable would stay loose and not fully clamp down. I had lost all hope until now thank you.

    If it’s your Thunderbolt cable that’s bad, save a bunch of hassle and just get the Apple Thunderbolt 2 cable (male to male) from Amazon and plug into the Thunderbolt port on the back of the monitor. Saw this in another video and just did it and it works perfectly, without having to take anything apart.

      @Ivan_Neykov  Před 2 lety +1

      Nice this is a smart idea, but in the same time if you wanna keep it original and keep the value of the monitor, you have to go through the hassle unfortunately

      I had the same time but i've noticed this method doesn't work all the time. I have the Thunderbolt monitor daisy chained to a DAS to Macbook Pro. Works using the attached cable but does not work with an external Apple branded TB2 m2m cable.

      Yes, my friend there’s two type of monitors one that is specific for MacBook laptop, and one that is capable of doing the Mac Pro 5.1 and MacBook

      @@Ivan_Neykov Thanks i didn't know that. I thought A1407 works on all supported macs. Which are the two monitors?

      Apple Thunderbolt Display A1407 and Apple Cinema Display A1316 they look exactly the same, but in the back of the cinema display have only three USBs. The thunderbolt display of my understanding is for laptops, and the cinema display is for the Mac pro 5.1

    Very clear instructions, thanks. I just want to remove the Thunderbolt/Laptop charger cables as I use a long thunderbolt cable and dont need the laptop charger. Is this OK?

      No specialist, but my understanding is why not I don’t see any problem with it that cable is there just for convenience

    Good video. He chooses not to remove some cables to the logic board (which I did, too, before watching this vid), so his proces is a bit shorter than other vids out there. The hardest cable to reconnect is the one he focuses on towards the end, but it is easier than you might expect. I purchased my cable on Amazon.

    Hi Ivan, thanks for your video. I change the cable of my thunderbolt display 27", because was failling, the image start to gone until it disappears, so I saw a tutorial, and I replace it, and the image come back perfect , but since the replacement all the pheriperals stop working (the usb ports, the audio, the camera, etc) someone told me that maybe is because the cable is not the correct one, but I don't see any options to chose for buying the cable, do you have any thought about this? Thanks in advance.

    • @Ivan_Neykov
      @Ivan_Neykov  Před rokem

      I’m thinking check the plugs the connectors if something is misaligned and it’s not making a good connection, maybe that’s your problem

      @@Ivan_Neykov , thanks for your response, I replace the cable and it works perfect, both cables look the same, pins included, but the first one cost me 17 usd, and the second 79, I think thats the main difference. Both cables I bought them at bestbuy, the second one a year latter, so i dont expect any refund at all. Thanks again. Cheers.

    I was given a not working A1407 it does not switch on by mains or connected to thunderbolt devices, it does not recognize any devices and it does not make any sounds.This to me looks like at least powerboard faults. on the Logic board, the flip-up locking gate seems to be damaged as it does not flip up?
    I am familiar with flick-up locking clips from working on camera internals, but the display I am working on (the gold locking bar) does not look right and will not lock down once inserted into its slot.
    Getting that cable in there with my big hands is really tight and the flip has no resistance in it as if it's broken?
    Any Ideas?
