when showing the 6 membered ring with nitrogen that goes off in another plane, if you angled the first line you made of that structure to something between 45° and 90° and drew the last line of the same structure parallel to the first, it would look like the correct shape with depth.
Here's a trick you can try to learn this with sufficient memorable detail. Its difficult but it can be done, try and memorise everything he says and then learn to exactly replicate the diagrams and recite each spoken work while recreating the diagrams. if you can do that perfectly you will be able to think about everything in aggregate and everything discussed will then become very clear. To the point you would be able to discuss your knowledge with professors of biology :/
