As shown in the light novel “Dazai and Chuuya, Fifteen,” during a eight, Dazai used a cloth that was attached to chuuya that nullified the enemy’s ability, protecting chuuya from the attacks. So as long as Dazai is touching that cloth or it’s touching him, his ability will flow through that cloth/clothing.

and i also think it’s the same logic with the anime making them hold hands through Rimbaud’s ability as well- except that they took the shortcut solution than have skk struggle together as they develop their ‘teamwork’ 🤷🏻♀️

In my opinion Dazai's character represents humanity. His time in the PM represents the dark and cynical behaviors/emotions humans can have while his time in the DA represents the positive of humanity also the ability to change into something good. Ironically considering Dazai didn't think of himself as human for the longest time (so far). While Chuuya throughout his life fights for his humanity bc of his past and how he came to be.
But in the light novel 55 minutes the Agency has a special plan to counteract No Longer Human. The ability is no longer active after death, as long as oxygen is pumped into the brain Thou shall not die will work since he is actually dead
But he said that in the video, he explained exactly how it was shown to us in 55 minutes

The creators of the show even said that they have to be creatve to keep chuuya out of fights
Which is funny because only Dazai can nullify it and stop him ,but also Dazai can’t physically fight or overpower Chuuya to be able to touch him long. So he needs some team effort and Dazai to use his big brain to take him down. He is the most op in bsd along with lovecraft and Fakuchi I think. But good he isn’t abusing his power and just doing mafia stuff to protect the city, so there is no need to fight him.
Sadly, i have to correct you. In the light novel, Dazai and Chuuya nullify Randou with just a piece of cloth that is connected over 3 or 4 meters to Dazai, so direkt NEAR skin contact isnt needed, he just needs to touch the thing to connect it whole to his ability. But dont worry, there are few moments were the anime producer didnt properly thought about his ability and the anime version. Maybe even the autors themselves. I found about 5 or 6 abolutly unlogical scenes that could have never happened realistic when it comes to his ability. But i will stick more to the original source material then the anime version. But: Great video ! Was a good summary of Dazais whole self, not just his ability.
I think anyone have right answers for the real use of “no longer human”, nor even Asagiri
Speaking of his fight with Chuuya, while I agree that ultimately Chuuya is most likely the better fighter, I don't think Dazai was going all out in this fights (I wonder if he let Chuuya hit him at times) due to the fact he already planned to talk to/corner Chuuya to protect himself. And yes, he's not physically the strongest, but he's far from being physically weak and he has pretty good moves and reflexes (most notably during his fight with the ex-mafia boss). So, in the end, I agree that there're stronger and better fighters than him in the manga/anime, but I still think he's actually a strong (as in capable) fighter and not in the low tier at all.
But he is good predicting Chuuyas movements because of their history (and all the background and trust), but idk if he is so good doing this with other people, in this moment I dont remember an example. (Sorry my broken english 😭)
If u want to know more of this authors or their work or just about Dazai Osamu. There is also an anime that can be references to this namely, Bungo to Alchemist. In the last ep, the anime show a short anime-like about No longer human.

Even though the video is cool, I expected more from it. Dazai is a very complex person, so it is even more difficult to analyze him. Since the title of the video is only about the ability, I will not mention Mori and the rest.
I would like to hear about the singularity of the ability, that Dаzai's ability contradicts itself, which is why it destroys its owner (his soul). There's a lot more to talk about, but I won't go into more details. There's a lot more to BSD than anime and manga.

Hi. English is not my first language but I'll try my best. We all know that there are ranobes (novels) from Kafka Asagiri, the creator of BSD. One of them is stormbringer. There we have a character talking about abilities. He tells about a paradox, which is created because of Dazai's and other's abilities. Bur not any ability is controversial. The point is that Dazai's ability cancels itself.
And I can not give you a detail explanation, mostly because I've read it long ago. But there Is also theory and conclusions from novel about Dazai's ability destroying his soul and it being a possible reason of creation of singularity and Dazai's death.
I highly recommend reading stormbringer to understand everything better. Kafka is a Genius.
I'd like to mention BSD community from my country because It's them, who thought me and others about all of this. And no joke there is A LOT MORE. Sometimes I wonder how those people live among us. Bye

@@fezay8000 woah, I never thought about how Dazai's ability to cancel out other abilities is a paradox itself. So, his ability to cancel out other abilities is working on itself. And that's how there are theories that this singularity is destroying Dazai and that's why he wants to die? Stormbringer sounds amazing, can you read it anywhere online? The AU BEAST version Dazai did use his ability to create a singularity that allowing him to get the memory of the original timeline Dazai. BEAST Dazai then formulate a plan to keep Oda alive and writing novels as Oda wanted. BEAST Dazai said that the BEAST AU is the only AU/ world in which Oda is alive and writing novels. This indicates that BEAST Dazai has searched all possible AUs he could before BEAST, making it thousand times more traumatizing for him.
The downsides are those who are physically stronger than you can demolish you still. So he needs to use his iq and strategy and allies.

i wrote down an entire tangent once about the potential of no longer human as an ability compared to and against the others abilities in the show (sadly i've lost the book i wrote it in, but i still vaguely remember the details)
for example, could he nullify and destroy the moby dick just by stepping foot inside it or by touching one of the walls? nullify the great fitzgerald's power back down to zero? if he touched kaiji and then a lemon bomb exploded nearby them would kaiji be hurt by it because dazai's negating his immunity ability? if he ever touched natsume while in cat form would natsume immediately turn back into a human (imagine dazai trying to pet cat natsume only to end up holding an adult man's shoulder lmao)? would an item that once belonged to dazai also be immune to ango's psychometry ability because of no longer human? is he immune to any and all status effecting abilities, like fukuzawa's all men are equal, or odasaku's flawless, or even fyodor's crime and punishment instakill ability?

Let me try and answer your questions since I've been following me his manga since the first chapter came out.
1) He can't nullify or dismantle Moby Dick because it had been mechanically barricaded and transformed many times so most of the original Moby Dick was lost, and instead there was this big mechanical flying whale.
2) He can nullify Great Fitzgerald power back to zero and by continued physical touch, he can make sure it doesn't even activate again.
3) If he touches Kaji and a lemon bomb explodes nearby then they both will be dead lmao.
4) I feel like Natsume's ability is not just turning into a cat. Because that's so boring for an OP character. Prolly the full extent of his ability isn't revealed yet. Also, Dazai did touch Natusume in his cat form without triggering a form reversal.
5) Ango's ability will still work on any item previously owned by Dazai because Dazai has to be in physical contact with either Ango or that item to render Daraku-ron ability useless.
6) He is immune to Fukuzawa's ability that's why the Agency doesn't have a perfect countermeasure for his ability. As for Oda's ability, it doesn't affect Dazai directly but if he touches Oda, then Oda can't predict the future.
7) Fyodor's insta kill is also useless against him since it won't even activate in the first place if Dazai touches him.
I think Dazai can activate his ability when he wants. It's not like it's activated 24/7. So he can touch people without cancelling their abilities (if he wants). Also, he doesn't need to touch the person directly, he can also cancel their ability by touching anything that their ability manifests (eg. any guns, grenades etc created from Lone Poet won't work on him).

@@dazaimaru5799 Q and Bram's ability are very similar. Mind control. For Q, it triggers when the doll is damaged. But as shown in the manga & anime, when Dazai touches the doll, he completely nullifies the doll. Similarly for Bram's, even if he bites Dazai, it won't work. Dazai's ability isn't just cancelling other abilities. When there is a clash between his ability and another ability, if Dazai is in contact with the user or any part of the ability manifestation, his ability always exerts it affects first, regardless of how quick the other person's ability is. This is something most people miss. So the other ability doesn't even get a chance to activate and affect him. But there was still a flaw in the anime. By the logic I mentioned above, Nikolai's ability shouldn't have worked on him. But alas, for the sake of plot, Nikolai was magically able to use his ability against Dazai 😂

I haven't seen the anime so my information may be wrong but, from what I understand, no longer human needs contact with the source of the ability. this means that a healing ability that doesn't require touch would work.
I don't know if there's somebody with that kind of ability and, I assume, nobody does. even if it's only for plot reasons.
I think the nullification works through Dazai's touch. It was shown that whenever an user, a medium or just the ability itself touches Dazai, that ability is nullified.
The 55 minutes gave a detailed explanation on the only way to heal Dazai with Yosano's ability, as said in the video with a really low chance and effective time frame of like 0.5 sec. The ADA has use this only way to resuscitate Dazai and it worked, maybe thanks to the extended time frame due to a time slowing down ability user (introduced in that LN only).

any ability around Dazai will be nullified as well, His ability range is quite wide, You can't touch him nor his coat + it's not just thinking ahead, he anticipation people, their thinking method & their moved & so.

Dazai was able to fake death to scare Atsushi. Somehow it reminded me of an opossum.
In that LN Dazai was already dying so the ADA has to use Yosano' s ability with their Dazai's resuscitation plan.
This resuscitation didn't have anything to do with Dazai's faking death by controlling his heart beat.

I am curious what happens if someone uses their maybe Magnetic gift to increase the speed of a bullet they are shooting at Dazai with but since the are using an actual bullet/gun especially if it wasn't created from an Ability then what would happen with the bullet once it touches Dazai would it stop and not hurt him or would it somewhat slow down but still pierce through Dazai's body?
The speed of the bullet might stop then. Idk im just assuming
it would definitely slow down, but still pierce him. as seen in light novel one, any bullet made out of an ability (kunikida's ability, specifically) would not harm him. however, with regular guns/bullets, he is able to be harmed, shown through fyodor's assassin sniping him easily. a combination of an ability and a regular method would result as always: nullifying the ability and only taking damage from regular methods. i'm wondering, though, why would a bullet need to increase its speed anyway?

It'd probably still work, Dazai's ability wouldn't be able to nullify the momentum something like would build. It seemed to work like that in Fifteen with Chuuya, at least.

I'm still confused how kyouka can still activate her ability even though she was gripping dazai's sleeve at episode 8 😭😭 I think I missed something but can someone explain please?
I think I can help. You know in that same episode where akutagawa used his power to try and choke Dazai? Well it only took at least a second for that power to be nullified so it could be the same thing with koyuka. But also remember this was season 1, so some things might be a little slow as the studio did some changes

Dazai let himself be captured. The Demon Snow activation is just there for show: to hint that Kyoka is an ability user before her official reveal later, and for suspend. Dazai has a histort of knowing beforehand the plan of his opponent/ enemy and still go along with it until the right time. (Read Dazai's entrance exam LN for more details).
An ability can still be activated then nullified right away (which is funny because if an ability isn't turned on then there's no need to turn it off. Like turning off a lamp that is already off is unnecessary and in a way, impossible).
Dazai power is cool but if he faced someone like Fydor, with his Crime and Punishment... tat ability scared the heck out me... If the ability is long distance he gonna struggle somewhere... Dazai mostly better at his intelligence....Cuz his mind is more powerful than his ability...

@@miyu1424 I think Lovecraft may be some kind of a singularity, but I'm not sure. Because Arahabaki (Chuuya's Corruption form) is also a singularity and Osamu can turn it off. However, he couldn't nullify Givre in Storm Bringer and it ALSO was a singularity (just like the dragon in DEAD APPLE). Sooo...Yeah. Lovecraft may be a singularity, NOT an ability. That's maby why Dazai can't nullify it
No idea. Apart from killing by touch even Dazai has no idea what Fyodor's true ability is. We have to wait and see. But if killing by touch is his only ability then sure. I guess he can do it
About the Cannibalism ability, the ADA planned to capture Pushkin and have Dazai touch him to nullify the virus.
Fyodor knew this and had Dazai shot before hand. I don't think Fyodor tried to kill Dazai though, as he explicitly said he commanded the snipper to not hit any of Dazai' s vitals. Fyodor was keeping Dazai away long enough for the Cannibalism plan to work out. Since both Dazai and Fyodor are pretty much on the same lv of planning ahead, Fyodor must have known that the ADA has a resuscitation plan specifically for Dazai that makes killing Dazai right away could turn out useless.
I have no idea why you think dazai can turn off abilities at will once he's touched the person for the first time
I wouldn’t call it badass. Considering its contact based its quite easily countered with something like a gun.
