  • This is the first test with the complete Battery. It is 2 battery packs of 20S8P with P42A Molicels. The batteries can supply over 600A, but the owner wanted range. The controller runs safely at 350A, but can be pushed to 450A with a water cooler. Actually on a ride the next day I saw 370A on the current meter. Man do I like this kind of power.

      Thanks Chad. We are going to make kits to install this motor and controller in these KTM frames, Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki. We will probably do a CZcams about it. If you are interested. $3000 for the motor, controller, and Battery, from ElectroandCompany.com $200-400 for an install kit.

    Hi Donald! Very awesome build, congratulation!
    Is there a real benefit to use EM260 controller for QS138 70H V3 over EM200/sp2?

    • @dcoxryton
      @dcoxryton  Před 2 lety +3

      Thanks. The real advantage of the EM260SP/2 is the 350A capable, and 450A possible with water cooling. I rode it yesterday in Mode 3 set at 350A and my meter said 370A at max acceleration. That is ripping power. This combo works so well. An important thing is to get it from ElectroandCompany.com. The Programming alone is worth it's price, plus you get a plug and play wiring harness. If you have tried to program any of the High current controllers, you know what I am talking about.
      Check out this youtube . It is a CRF 250 with the same ELECTROANDCOMPANY.com motor and controller on the hill course at Glen Helen in mod 2 at about 240A.

    Hi Donald, nice build! Do you have any experience with QS180 90H? Looking to convert a 125cc yamaha bike to EV and not sure yet what the best motor would be..

    • @dcoxryton
      @dcoxryton  Před rokem +1

      No I don't have any experience with the QS180 90H motor, but The specs I see are, that it is heavier, and it doesn't have a gear reduction, and it only is a 4 pole motor versus the 5 poles on the QS138 70H V3. The QS138 70H V3 can take 32KW. With the EM260SP/2 you can push that motor to 72V 450A. You have to cool the controller at that current, but It will run 350A all day long with no cooling. I have just finished the YZ250H with the QS 138 70H V3 and the EM260SP/2 and 42AH battery, and I will put out a CZcams on that. I have a CZcams on my channel on that YZ250f first ride. czcams.com/video/n9BlsPAM4-o/video.html

    Hello, is it enough to drive a few kilometers on this battery?
    Please advise the best controller for the 3000W 70H QS138 motor
    And also for QS138 4000w 90H

    • @dcoxryton
      @dcoxryton  Před rokem +1

      With this battery, 4.8KW, I have gone 40 miles, or about 64 Kilometers trail riding. You can calculate approximate mileage by dividing the KW of the battery by 120w per mile. I would say the best controller for a QS 138 70H V3 is the Votol EM 260 SP2 programmed by ElectroandCompany.com. It would be the same for the QS 138 90H motor. The controller will give you about 450A to either motor, so the same power. I buy the complete kit from Electroandcompany.com, because it comes with the motor, controller, wiring harness, throttle, switches, and programmed ready to ride. Here is my YZ 250 with the same components, I plugged it in, and drove it in this video. czcams.com/video/N1lioYhFW3c/video.html

    Great build. Did you use the V3 with the internal gearing? I have a V2 without internal gearing. I was wondering what motor and what gearing your using? I am going to use a 108900 on mine and run it at a lower setting. I do all my own tuning. Honestly its pretty easy.

    • @dcoxryton
      @dcoxryton  Před 2 lety

      Is that a far driver 108900? I have a friend having a lot of problems to get it to work on a ME1115 motor and the Sins/Cosine encoder. The Votol EM 260 SP works so well with the QS motors. Yes mine is the V3. Have you done a lot of programming with the Far driver?

      @@dcoxryton I've proged two bikes so far on Votol but they were both hub motors. It's much easier than my ASI BAC 8000. I have never ran a ME brushless me motor before so I can't really comment 9n the encoder. The 108900 that I'm going to try is from LBMC which I believe to be a derivative of the votol controller but I alittle cheaper. Someone has to attempt it first.

      @@ryanmerrill8879 Yea the controller always seems to be the toughest part. I have way too much experience with the Kelly and a ME1302 motor. It worked but not well at all. Cut outs under load. Then I worked with a guy on the BAC8000. Difficult too. Then I tried a Sevcon on a ME1115, and just an expensive cluster... Too many variables. Now I have built 4 bikes with the Votol EM150SP or EM 260SP, all QS V3 motors, what jewels. They just work. I am starting a 2014 YZ250F this week, with the same combo. The Motor/Controller from ElectroandCompany.com, just works out of the box. I helped a buddy, the one with the BAC8000, build anther CRF with QS V3 and Em260SP. This combo just works. Here is him and his CRF at Glen Helen doing 2 laps. In mode 2 and only about 250A. The old battery crapped out right at the end of 2 laps. czcams.com/video/wpCnW2bwSnM/video.html&ab_channel=CasMoto

    What size rear sprocket? Are you using the 14 tooth front sprocket that comes with the motor? Do you mind sharing the top speed?

    • @dcoxryton
      @dcoxryton  Před 2 lety

      We are using a 13 tooth on the front and 49 on the rear, I am not sure on the rear.. I haven't clocked the speed, but I think it's in the 60's. The Flux weakening really spins up in Boost mode. You can get 520 sprockets from MightE.me they have 13,14, and15. The sprocket that comes with the motor is a 428 15 tooth.

      It is fun and fast. the owner has ridden it miles and miles since delivery in mid June. I just got a picture from him at 7500' altitude in the High Sierras, no jetting issues... the bike got 40 miles on a full charge of trails in Vermont, he is loving it. Stay tuned for my next build I am building now. A 2014 YZ 250F with the same motor controller.

    Is there a water cooled plate that’s designed for the em260 or do people piece together a kit? I haven’t been able to find anything

    • @dcoxryton
      @dcoxryton  Před rokem

      Both answers are correct. AliExpress sells a water cooling plate for the EM260, but it is a little expensive. And you need the pump and plumbing www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804765456094.html We have put together some parts to do this with. Pump https: //www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JD8PXSR/?t
      Power Supply https: //www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GNTC1D7/?tag=sce0f-20 Water cooling blocks: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VFGW4JZ/?tag=sce0f-20 (They also have larger ones on that site) Or you can go to Manny Guerrero, and he makes a kit. Hope this helps

    In az how much would you charge to build something like this if I brought you frame

    • @dcoxryton
      @dcoxryton  Před rokem

      There are a lot of variables. The motor, controller kit it is about $1500, the battery is the expensive and variable item. 4.8KW just like in this one would be about $4500,(including Chargers) with case and fit to the KTM, this was for a 2017 150SX frame. I would charge about $1000 to build it. There can be smaller batteries, as little as $2000, and swappable batteries. Go to the Electricdirtriders.com , and this subject electricdirtriders.com/threads/yz250f-2014-build-with-qs-138-70h-v3-motor-and-450a-controller-part-1-and-part-2.2733/

    What kind of speeds are you getting? Thinking about building one of these.

    • @dcoxryton
      @dcoxryton  Před rokem

      Mode 1 or 2 is good for the high 40"s, and Mode 3 is the high 50's. the gearing is 13 49 520 chain.

    • @dcoxryton
      @dcoxryton  Před rokem +1

      The reason for the higher speed in Mode 3 is the flux weakening. I actually have it setup so that Mode 3 engages Boost, or Sport Mode, and Boost has the flux weakening.
