The Director of ABBA's 1970's and 1980's music videos is not 'anybody', it is Swedish Director Lasse Hallstrom who, after finished all his music videos with ABBA, directed films that became multiple Academy Award (Oscar) nominees, such as "My Life as a Dog", "What's Eating Gilbert Grape", "The Ciderhouse Rules", "Chocolat", and "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen", and many more.

@@christianoazzuro6711 These Abba promotion films were not extremely serious work though (even compared to his Swedish films). They were usually just having fun, and at an extremely low budget. Filmed on stage, spontaneous "on town", or up in Lasse Hallström's own appartment :)

Abba was and is always into music, not into video. They don't need any videoclip support. Abba is magic. That is why they will always remain a superband which created divine and timeless songs for real music fans across the world and across generations. Just close your eyes and listen to their creations. No need for video... ;)

remember that ABBA is the iconic Swedish pop quartet,
the best, most versatile and most important of the 70s decade,
in the post BEATLES decade (the revolutionary group of the 60s)
ABBA, as in its time BEATLES,
was a musical and cultural phenomenon, and its legacy lives on
ABBA is the biggest musical act
in the history of both continental Europe
    and the non-English speaking world
They are the first non-English speaking group
to have considerable success in major English-speaking countries
And is the first group to break with the hegemony of
    NorthAmerican, English and Australian artists
in the music market dominated by British culture.
    ABBA is an acronim with the initials of their first names;
    initialy was two couples too:
A- Agnetha (blonde lead vocal) &
    B- Björn (guitarist and songwriter)
B- Benny (pianist and songwriter) &
A- Anni Frid (brunette lead vocal)
(both couples separated before the breakup of the group in 1982)
    ABBA recording between 1972/1982,
have a wonderful series of more than 20 worldwide hits,
included nine singles #1 in UK:
    Waterloo (the Eurovision 1974 winner)
    Mamma Mia
    Fernando
Dancing Queen (their biggest worlwide hit)
    Knowing me knowing you
    The name of the game
    Take a chance on me
    The winner takes it all
    Super trouper
And after more than 35 years ABBA return to studio in 2017
and recording a full new album "Voyage"
between 2017/2021 released in November 2021
    and is a worldwide succes
    And in last May 2022
all four ABBA members asist to the premiere of the new Voyage concerts
    (with avatars of Theirself)
in the new ABBA Arena at London UK
(another greatest success,, with tickets on sale to April 2024)
The ages of all ABBA members now is
    73 Agnetha Fältskog ; 76 Benny Andersson
78 Björn Ulvaeus ; 77 Anni Frid (Frida) Lyngstad
I hope to see more reactions to ABBA
    GOD bless you

    First comment here!
I'm so glad to see you again, with your second reaction to ABBA songs
(the first was "Fernando", long time ago)
    "Knowing me knowing you" (1976)
is one of ABBA's most famous heartthrob songs
The lyrics are strong and raw
(some say there is a preview of the couple conflicts
between the blonde singer Agnetha & guitarist Björn)
And it has a powerful chorus on Agnetha & Frida, and a nice melody
These is an excellent official video,
it shows the four of them in separation situations,
and plays with the images of the trios
The part that stands out the most
is the appearance of the image of Agnetha almost whispering
as a reflection of Frida's main voice
    "Knowing me knowing you"
was five weeks in a row at #1 in the UK,
and one of them coincided with the #1 of "Dancing Queen" on the Billboard.
(Just this week of April 9, 1977, 46 years ago, ABBA was #1 in the U.S. and U.K.
with two different songs from the same album)
    "Knowing me knowing you"
is one of their hits that ABBA recorded in spanish at 1980,
    with the tittle: "Conociéndome, Conociéndote",
part of their album in spanish language
    "Gracias por la música" (1980)
ABBA recorded in spanish after the colossal success of "Chiquitita" (1979)
    in Latin American countries
    For a new suggestion,
the first heartbroken ABBA song that was worldwide hit: "S.O.S." (1975)
with the blonde singer Agnetha in the lead voice
the second worldwide hit to ABBA since their victory at Eurovision with "Waterloo"
I hope to see you in next reaction to ABBA
My best regards to You from
    Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷
    South América

Most people today have no idea how big this group was that sold over 300 Million records worldwide, let that sink in. Not a day went by in the late 70's when you didn't hear them on the radio. They were a hit machine with one song after another. Growing up 40 years ago I gravitated toward the heavier rock of that time but ABBA was no doubt a 'guilty pleasure' group. Incredible harmonies, amazing stage presence and the 2 ladies were certainly quite easy on the eyes especially Agnetha..

ABBA were a phenomenal band with a massive back catalogue of hits.
They were pretty much innovators of the whole music video thing and so of course with the technology and evolution of music videos they look dated now but ABBA's hold up better than most.
As for the songs, they are timeless and still widely enjoyed by young and old alike. They did pop, soft rock, disco and other music styles but always with a unique ABBA twist and those beautiful harmonies and vocals.
If you enjoyed reacting to them then I suggest "name of the game" as your next ABBA video.

ABBA is goat of pop music according to many persons in the world. Abba made many kind of songs, inspiration from all over the world. They did play soul, jazz, schlager, folkmusik, disco, polka, reggae, theatre, rock, hymns, ballads, etc. and mixed it like noone else. The member were all extremely talented and they did dare to find new ways. You could say this was the start if musicvideos (start of Skychannel, Superchannel,MTV, etc.) aswell. There were no autotunes these days and they were fantastic LIVE aswell. In Europe, Australia and Latinamerica they were number 1. I don’t think any women has sold more albums than Agneta and Frida in music history (around 1/2 billion). They actually did sing in 5 languages. A suggestion - check them in LIVE from Wembley or Australia. They have got a huge number of great or better songs and it’s hard to choose. A faster one - why not superhits like Dancing Queen, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme or Lay All Your Love On Me. The heartbreaking songs like this one are amazing too - the most famous one is The Winner Takes It All. The music is timeless and they were way before their time. Many got inspiration to new ways from ABBA, metalbands for example. So much to discover here ❤Cheers!

Oh, will you have an adventure discovering ABBA. Endless! No words...just no words... everything's been written to describe how amazing and original they sound. Enjoy!, And yes, this song was a great example of the happy but sad unique combination of sounds that ABBA did so well. Where else else to start, my two cents: Move on, My mama said, The visitors, The Name of the Game, Fernando, Tiger.

My first ABBA purchase back in the day. I appreciate the candor of their lyrics. This is a true break up song, lyrics by Bjorn, sung by Frida. Later his lyrics put Agnetha in a breakup "victim's" role, in The Winner Takes It All. She not only sang it, but later shared that she loved the lyrics.

If I had to explain to anyone what was a good pop song back then, it's him. Sad content in catchy sound (positive melodies), not yet biographical (later: The Winner Takes It All; When All Is Said And Done). ABBA have so many styles of music; I'm amazed how you continue, can't go wrong.👍
Note: MTV didn't exist yet; ABBA made so-called promo films in order not to have to travel too much (blonde Agnetha was afraid of flying and had two pregnancies).

ABBA are from Sweden and the name is taken from the initials of their first names, Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn, and Anni-Frid. They are the second biggest selling
group after the Beatles and have many hits and are very popular all around the world although not so much in the US. Benny and Bjorn wrote all the
music. They stopped making music together in 1982 but in 2021 they came together again to produce a new album called 'Voyage' and a new show in London also
called 'Voyage' using avatars in stead of themselves as they are now all in their 70s So far the show has had over a million people to see it and it is fantastic!

Great song from a great group. ABBA is a Swedish band that was HUGE and i mean huge in the 70s and 80s. They were 2 married couples. The blonde girl is Agnetha and married Bjorn the guitarist who you saw her hugging in the video. The auburn haired girl is Anna-Frid aka Frida or Annie. She married Benny the pianist who she was hugging in the video. They have sold over 400 million records. Only the Beatles have sold more! After 40 years they got back together and recorded a new album called voyager. They still sound as good. They have a special theater for concerts with avatars aka abbatars lol.
