      I think Chris meant AMONGST ALL ENTRY-LEVEL Ferrari supercars. Because, to me, Chris likes the F12/F12 TDF better. But, yes, the performance this 488 GTB is amazing. If this car is able to match the performance of the 675 LT around the track, then just imagine what the TRACK VERSION of it will be like.

    • @nomoreheroes93
      @nomoreheroes93 Před 7 lety

      This isn't a controlled environment; different weather, track conditions, driver gets more experience the more laps he does, likely to be more nervous about maxing a P1 etc.

      0.2 seconds is a huge gap in such short track and the p1 with trofeo R tires Will fuck anything in track Maybe not the 918 on some race tracks

    • @South4153
      @South4153 Před 7 lety +7

      Anis Beli on the nürburgring it
      would be a huge gap yes. but a p1 with around 900hp should definitely be more than 0.2sec faster than a ferrari with 600-something.
      you're just another fanboy that praises his favourite cars into the heavens without thinking. p1 may be faster on circuits that aren't as small and technical as this one.

      Of course you would, if it's your own hard earned money going into the car why would you go for McLaren, yes they're improving and yes there's cars may be quicker sometimes but absolutely nothing says you've got to where you want to be in life & nothing has the same badge, the same flare, the same total summation of what a supercar is supposed to be than a Ferrari. I never used to be a Ferrari fan boy and over night my opinion was changed, being around some of these cars you can see how nice the McLaren's are, the Lambo's are, the Porsche's but in the flesh, with ya botty in the drivers seat, none of them compare to the Fiat! Never mind the fact you can rely on the Ferrari residuals more so than all the others (maybe other than the right Porsche models)

      I would almost guarantee that the times posted are based on multiple drivers putting in numerous laps throughout a given day. However for brevity (and due to the nature of automotive journalism), they only show one lap from one driver.

    • @CaptainSpork1337
      @CaptainSpork1337 Před 7 lety

      Also considering how full of small-medium sized errors that lap was and that the laps in other cars could also have been fairly poor, it's hard to take much away from the leaderboard. I know it's not exactly easy to find world class drivers who can get a car to within a few tenths of its physical capabilities, but without that it's a bit hard to make conclusions on a car's relative performance to others.

      Even if it was the same driver, its not much better. Especially since its still on different days.
      Also, even in Formula 1.. if you have a car that slightly suits 1 drivers driving style over the other.. he will constantly post better times. The smallest things make big differences. For example.. a driver might not feel 100% confident with the superfast steering rack and does better on a slower rack, and posts better times in McLarens.. etc. Or you have someone who loves the balance of Ferrari and its a perfect fit for him, but rear engine Porsches give him some issues. (issues meaning he isnt at his ABSOLUTE best).. we are talking tenths. Nothing is going to be perfect, but id assume if they had him drive, he is closely matched to the other drivers and they post similar times. Its all for entertainment!

    • @veemacks7255
      @veemacks7255 Před 7 lety +5

      It's true that it doesn't really matter. People are gonna buy the one they like the most, for me it would be an AMG GT S. I know that it might not even be in the top half of all the cars in the same category and price range, but it's the one I'd want for that money. But, if you don't compare speed and handling, which is what a lap time on the same course does, then what else can you compare. Everything else is personal preferences.

      I agree looks are subjective. But to some extent one can admit that certain things look ugly while others look nice... And better than others...
      I respect your opinion that you like the design of the Ferrari better but to say it's ugly is a little biased. How is it a bad looking car? The Ferrari's front looks like it ha Buck teeth or something with those front pillars on the grill... Even the 458 speciale had a more aggressive looking front IMO. So I really find it shocking that you don't admire the mclerans aggressive design. But hey... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... So I guess ur point is valid..... but only to the extent that it is an opinion.

      Hasan Al-habbobi If u look at the Ferrari lineup u can see that every car is unique and have their own design . From laferrai to f12 every car is unique and beautiful . whereas if u looks at the McLarens every car looks so similar to the p1 design because they have carried forward that design and there is nothing unique . And seriously speaking no McLaren looks as beautiful as a Ferrari ,they are just edgy boring looking designs with a lot of mismatch.

    Are people really still commenting that it's a "press car" ? How hard is it to believe that supercar manufacturer that has made hundreds of models can match a 675LT with a car with more weight and slightly less power. It's called better technology. but saying that I'm sure if you compared both cars over a whole heap of tracks the 675 would come out on top due to its power to weight advantage and better tyres. Still impressing for the 488 to post such a good time, people really underestimate how fast it is

    • @tubbehht9236
      @tubbehht9236 Před 5 lety +1

      There is a reason why Ferrari sends cars for straight line performance and cars for track performance. If you take a customer car 488 it is pretty obvious that it will not be able to match the 675lt on any track at all.

    The fact that the 488 matches the 675LT on this track proves just how well Ferrari has pulled off their first turbo mid engine supercar since the F40. But McLaren will step up their game even further with what is now called the P14. That will be the actual rival to the 488 GTB and and if McLaren have applied the lessons learned from the 570S,which MotorTrend crowned as the Best Drivers Car of 2016,then the 488 will have worthy competition in 2017.

      Alex Biegaj
      Trust me, McLaren will have to come EXTRA, EXTRA GOOD, to be able to compete against the TRACK VERSION of this 488 GTB! Remember, the 675 LT is a supercar that is optimized for the track, while the 488 GTB is just the regular, entry-level Ferrari, that replaced the 458 Italia. And for that car to be JUST AS GOOD (IF NOT BETTER) around the track than the 675 LT, I think says a lot. Chris Harris tested it and said it is better. Also, in a comparison test conducted by Car and Driver, the Dodge Viper ACR's laptime was just MARGINALLY better than that of the 488 GTB. And, I'm sure you understand that any supercar that produce numbers nearly identical to the Viper ACR (around a track) must be pretty damn good.
      Now, don't get me wrong, McLaren has been doing very good with all of its supercars. And I am impressed by what this company has been doing. But, again, I just feel McLaren has to put in extra effort in producing a supercar that will match up well against the track version of the 488 GTB, when it is released. With the turbo charged V8, Ferrari clearly seems to be back at its game.

    I honestly find t hard to believe that this can be faster than cars like the GT3RS and 675LT, I think it may have to do with the fact that Anglesey is a technical track with not a lot of high speed bits where the aero can really get to work. Test these cars against each other on a track like Spa and you might get different results

    Ferrari making another master piece! You could already tell the stock production 488 was going to be faster than the special order 675LT. Don't get me wrong. McLaren make fantastic cars. Afterall, they created the biggest achievement in road going cars with their F1.
    But Ferrari have been doing this for longer. As it should, they should be as quick if not quicker than the competition.

The body panel gaps were all off, and the pointy ends of the hood were rubbing against the fender/bumper cover. For that much money I would have expected better/more. Not sure if it was THAT car, or if that's true for all Ferrari's.
