    As a Stars fan, I’m glad to hear Avs fans/faculty aren’t using Val’s decisions as an excuse for the current deficit in the series. With that said, as someone who’s struggled with addiction, I hope nothing but the best for Val and hope the best for him. At the end of the day, we’re talking about a human being who struggles with something that many other people struggle with every day.

    The owners, the team, the fans all have paid a price, but the one person who has paid the most is Val himself. No one knows why he is self-medicating. At this point, he has been given every chance, and he let everyone down. He can't have others depending on him, telling them to trust him and not follow through. I pray he finds his way out of this circle that so many addicts face. Having so much money makes it so much harder to Just Say No. My guitar player once said to me, if we would have made big I would probably be dead. I tried a lifetime to help him but could never find the key to free him from himself.

    Good luck to Val and I hope he gets the help he needs. The more sinister enemy here are our emotions in general. Not just substance or drug abuse; those are just an easy go to so we feel better. We look at substance addicts and assume we are ok if we don't have those drugs or alcohol abuse problems. Plenty of us NON-substance abusers have "emotional addictions" that waste/destroy years and decades of our lives just like drugs or alcohol. We enjoy going to certain places emotionally because it makes us feel good. Even though we see it is NOT good for us. Yet we still do it again and again for the "feeling" or "excitement" or whatever little high we get from "chasing our feelings". If we find ourselves in that group then we should be aware of our bad habits/ behaviors/ "emotional addictions" as well so we can also work to a meaningful recovery. Best wishes Val. Dallas fan.

    Stars fan here. I have constantly heard a version of the phrase, "Our top guys just aren't performing and if they do...". The call out I have is it's as if they just woke up and decided not to play hard as opposed to the Dallas D shutting them down. This idea that once the avs start performing, they'd be fine, but I think they are performing, Dallas' D is just better. The best game the Avs had was Game 1 and they were down 3 to 0. They came back on a Dallas team that played a game 7 in an incredibly physical series. As the Stars have rested (from a less physical series), they have gotten better and better.
    The point is, I don't see this as an "Avs need to play their game," as more of a "The Avs game can't be played bc of Dallas' defense" Just my opinion. We'll see how tonight goes

    • @lesleychisholm9326
      @lesleychisholm9326 Před 25 dny +1

      As an Avs fan I agree, the Stars defense has really shut down our top players. Saying that Cale has had some poor showing in the last few games and that's on him. I saw the Avs best game as Game 3, which although they dominated they still couldn't score enough goals to win. Val has been a scoring machine these playoffs and Toews in an exceptional D-man and partner to Makar, so missing both of them in one game at short notice was a huge gut punch.
      Meghan always has amazing insights and reads on what is going on, and very well thought out questions. She is one of the best!

      Its 50/50 i think. Stars are pushing Avs into frustration this leads me back to the coaching topic which I know is sensitive. I don't think one thing or person is to blame but what I can tell you as an Avs fan we are skating slow. Slamming sticks on ice in the boards the post all the signs of frustration and its after a missed pass... not a turn over or cause the stars player did some directly at that moment. All I'm saying is a lot of it is self-inflicted. Then the cycle continues and just makes the stars job easier. I kinda hope the Avs wake up for at least one game. I haven't missed a game in years. I watch every second. As much as Dallas is playing well they are getting it easy. Id say you guys saw about 75% of what the Avs can do in game 1. Please Avs just ONE game that's a full 60 lol

      @lesleychisholm9326 Před 25 dny +1

      @@feinded Oh I agree, a lot of the Avs struggles are self inflicted, and that's what's causing them frustration. But give credit to Dallas too for putting the pressure on them to make bad plays.
      Sometimes the bounces just don't go your way, which was the case in game 3. If the Avs had won that we'd be in a whole different situation. Game 4 was just a giveaway. They aren't using Val (and Toews) being out as an excuse, but they were stunned for the first half of the game. It clearly shook them up. Now they've had time to process it and IF they can play their game for a full 60 tonight then look out Dallas. They have a lot of pride and they don't want to go out like this. Look what they did last year against Seattle and the team they had then wasn't nearly as strong as this years.

    6:23 He looked unstoppable in round 1, and now we know why. He was "flying high"! The Avs organization should also be held accountable as they knew this since last year and turned a blind eye. Since Nichuskin was literally on some sort of drugs, giving him some sort of an illegal edge while leading the NHL IN scoring with 7 goals in 5 games against Winnipeg! That was completely unfair to the Jets! He was the best player in the entire playoffs during the first round. It's a shame they didn't test him before the 1st round because 2 of their games against Winnipeg would have been losses without him scoring multiple difference making goals. Sucks for Winnipeg, but Dallas gets blessed and will right this wrong in 6 or 7 games.

      Exactly. Tuesday was a mental loss from the first drop of the puck. Nothing fit for them. One of two things are going to happen tomorrow night: 1) The mental shroud will still be in effect and we prepare for next season, OR 2) They find the inner warrior in their souls and beat the hell out of them in the back of the net and on open ice and extend the series. Even if I wasn't an Avalanche fan, I would want to see #2 happen to help them recover some dignity. On one hand I am very sympathetic toward Val's inward beasts dragging his soul down. On the other, you are a millionaire, professional athlete and you put your team first and ask for more help. The question is: Can Val come back. Right now, I am very sus if he does wear an Avs jersey again. By training camps, I might feel different knowing his battle is a daunting stone to push up a hill. Thoughts on that?

    • @RK-fh4bp

      I disagree that the postseason run hinges on him being there. However, it is a big loss to the team.
      First off, it’s the circumstances surrounding him missing and how sudden it was before game time. If it happened before the start of the series, it wouldn’t be as bad.
      Secondly, he was the leading goal scorer and plays a huge role for the Avs, who are a top heavy team. His defense is a big component of how he helps this team.
