I think the problem DJ is having is that he thinks the Oilers have greatly outplayed the Stars or something. The truth is, Edmonton's MOST dominant moments are better than Dallas' top moments. But Game 2 and 3 have been the same thing: Edmonton dominates the first period, Dallas outplays Edmonton in the 2nd, and then Dallas capitalizes on a chance in a low event 3rd period. As easily as the Oilers could be up 2-1 or 3-0, the Stars are 2 OT posts away from also being up 3-0.

Every single Edmonton homer is adamantly unwilling to admit that the Stars are simply deeper. There is no answer for the pressure that guys like Stankoven, Dadonov, Steel, Smith, Faksa, Lindell, hell, even Pavelski apply. This series is already over and the Oil just doesnt know it.

Honestly, I think the way that the Oilers come out IS the problem. They come out flying against Dallas, but Dallas just weathers the storm and waits for the Oilers to wear themselves out. The Oilers seem to expend most of their energy in the first 20. I do think the Oilers are simply being outcoached.

The Oilers come out like a house on fire with their world class talent but they run out of fuel. Heck, they’re one post away from being up 3-0.

Also something else that nobody is talking about... Florida threw everything that they had at the Rangers that game. Quite literally everything. And the Rangers played like absolute dog shit. Rangers can elevate their game so much more (and have all season long). That should be sitting in the front of Florida fans minds.

I guess all of the late hits after every other scoring chance is ok but when the Rangers start playing that way it's dirty. The Rangers have plenty of guys who can play that way but generally they don't prefer to play that way. The Canes series was intense but clean and I don't think having to play someone that wasn't going to score enough to win a series is going to help Florida. Boston never was really in that series to me especially after game 1.

What a Ranger way to win a game I said it would be funny if it happened and it did. The Rangers win like this a lot they have a tendency to finish and they don't panic.

I moved to Lethbridge in 1991 and Gene was just starting his career in Lethbridge. He’s one of the best out there and it’s great to see him do well.

I don't have a problem with the hit it was just a little late and I thought the refs got it right. I would like the stupid late hits and after the play cheap shots by Florida every time the Rangers get a scoring chance, to stop it's bush league.

This was a very fine episode. Really enjoyed it. Two great guests. Was so nice to have Gene back on, and hear his perspective on the game (and on life) since he has a personal connection to the players. Also, Steve was quite funny and I enjoyed his analysis. Per your recommendation I added him to my list of people to follow on Twitter, when I return from hiatus there.

I mean, you can't not mention Draisaitl in all of this, he runs his own line, he has 12 PP points and 13 or 14 EV points, leads the playoffs in points, 13 game point streak(every playoff game this year), fastest player to score 20 road playoff goals, 3rd fastest player to 100 playoff points behind only Wayne and Mario, like..... give the guy his due.
