I am a 61 year old Womble.......I remember seeing them on Wonderama, a NYC TV show with Bob McAllister that was directed at kids....and they had the Wombles on one show.....I loved them....but then they slipped from memory until now! Love the Wombles!
Bernard was really an actor and a regular Jackanory storyteller though he didn't read any of the Wombles books for Jackanory as these stories were actually told by a slightly younger man called Ronald Hines.
mike batt im sure is very proud to have sat down and wrote the song and i was born in 1974 i dont remember this song but remembered this years later richard
I was just talking to a friend of mine that there are many old school children's songs that can be much better than tons of adult songs from today and this was a great example.
When i was 16 me and my friend lived together and the only music we had was all the Adam and the Ants singles, 3 David Bowie albums, the Cowboy Killers press and run like hell, the Hair musical and The Wombles Album. Good times
Love the violining on this... makes me think of The Snowman for some reason when some of the snowmen/snowwomen are dancing in kilts and one of them is playing a violin, whilst the rest are all dancing around in the snow!! Such a fun, up-beat song... love it!
I can play violin and possess perfect pitch. This theme tune is in G major, changing to A major. The Wombles - a major part of my childhood and Bernard Cribbins. I turn 53 in a fortnight!
Akkora slager volt, hogy meg a Tanczenei koktel es az 5 Orai tea is gyakran jatszotta 1974 es '75 ben. Ennek ellenere csak 2007 ben sikerult megtalalnom egy peldanyt a Polus Centerben. 25 szamos Best of volt. Alig hittem a szememnek, mert csak 800 ft ba kerult!
@@JDG2764 Third to remember, but only after people were talking about the band The Wombats, and I started singing this and they were looking at me like wtf
OMG I became a real life Womble that's why I pick glass bottles up when I see them on the street or an old lamp to fix now I know hehehe too funny RIP the lovely Bernard Cribbens
"This was, almost certainly, the best song Mike Batt ever recorded. Which is a bit like saying that the best car British Leyland ever made was the Triumph Stag"
Reminiscing songs with my teenage kids. My son asks Dad, sounds like theyre singing Remember youre a BUMHOLE...Cool song Dad, gonna sing It to my friends when they piss me off. Bloody Kids

Wobbles Was my childhood and brings back so many memories.

Fantastic orchestration by Mike Batt and his session men. A well-deserved hit.

Mike had a great voice
@@djdoolittle1315 It's been croaky these last few years though.

The most influential band ever. My favorite. The Wombles.
Very inventive song, a masterpiece but then composer Mike Batt is a genius.
No composer and producer is better than Mike Batt!

Sat watching my 4 year old Granddaughter dance to this and my 13 year old Grandson singing along. Happy times.
Takes me back to more innocent days when I was a kid growing up. Awesome.
Mike Batt - Womble legend... born from Southampton... ✊
Still a classic 2023 ❤
I was just talking to a friend of mine that there are many old school children's songs that can be much better than tons of adult songs from today and this was a great example.
Written by a v talented classically trained musician....probably helped!

This was an accomplished and financially ascute composer dumbing down a bit, but to our benefit!
STONE COLD classic!
That's a pretty metal setup they've got: double bass drums, 6-string bass, and a Flying V? Dang!

The violin hook sounds like it's been lifted from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi. Not complaining, mind.

MIKE BATT!!!
@WomblesWimbledon LOL, I don't blame you
Remember!
When was this video recorded? It looks very modern for a Wombles video.
It was filmed in 2011, to promote the Wombles upcoming appearance at Glastonbury.
@WomblesWimbledon Woah, but good on them
Wasn't there 16:9 in 2010? But a great song ;)
Had to see what Alice Tinker was talking about. RIP Emma Chambers❤

Dr Stanley Yaren quoting getting completely out of hand, and Why is that fruit competing?
Why, ever? I mean, existing.
Why?
Even the womble's could sing way far better than the crap that's in the chart's of today.
Great song, but far too many micro-second close-ups - no time to take in who the shot is of.
