    1). don't use both chemical and physical exfoliant at the same time
    > risk over exfoliating
    > causes microscopic tear
    2). alternate using acne treatment (benzoyl peroxide) and chemical exfoliants (AHA & BHA)
    3). avoid using vitamin C with AHA, BHA and benzoyl peroxide
    > disrupts the skin's pH balance
    4). Use hyaluronic acid BEFORE face oils
    > apply products from more watery to more oily, the lighter consistency usually absorbs better
    # toner > essence > serum > cream > oil
    > using the oil first blocks the hyaluronic acid from being absorbed into the skin
    5). Use benzyl peroxide and retinol on different occasions
    > use moisturizers in between
    I just saved u 10 mns ur welcome

      Personally, I do only like to use just a few products every evening. But I switch it up each night depending on what I feel my skin needs. Sometimes it wants hydration and nourishment, other times it needs a deep clean and acne treatment.
      For example, every night would consist of cleansing and toning, and then I'll add in different masks where necessary (clay for acne; sheets for hydration) and sometimes I'll use a face scrub, other times I'll use an AHA/BHA chemical peel.
      Some nights will include GOW Niacinamide Serum which is very watery, then I might layer on Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair which is a tad thicker but contains lots of antioxidants, and then finally a thick moisturiser, like La Roche Posay Nutric Intense Riche or an oil, like Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil.
      Other times, after cleansing/toning etc. I might still use the Niacinamide serum and then layer on top the Skin Shop Silver Serum to fight acne breakouts, and then La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo.

      Keep it simple like clean your face before bed using a face wash. Use make up remover un you use make up. Use an Exfoliate once aweek or two a week.
      If you suffer acne, use 2% or 5% benzoyl peroxide cream from a drug store as spot treatment.
      You do not need exoendive brand.
      Face serum is good but expensive and you can DIY such as hyalorunic acid serum seoarately from Vitamin C, E, Ferulic Acid serum.

      UNLESS a sunscreen is used,
      Vitamin C Serum shouldn't be used during the day due to sun exposure.
      Ingredients
      1 tsp vitamin C powder
      1 tsp filtered water
      1 TB aloe vera gel + 2 tsp, I think aloe juice may also work in this recipe. I haven't personally tried aloe juice in my serum, yet.
      1/4 tsp vitamin E oil optional
      Instructions
      In a small bowl, combine the vitamin C powder and filtered water. Whisk the ingredients until the vitamin C powder is completely dissolved. Once dissolved, stir in the aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil.
      Pour the serum into a dark amber bottle (a funnel helps). Store the serum in the fridge for 1-2 weeks. Around the two week mark you may notice the serum's pH level change*. Your serum may have a different color and consistency, depending on the vitamin C powder and aloe used to make this recipe. My vitamin C powder is pink, but many are white.

      Best instruction on making Vitamin C serum
      How To Make 30ml Vitamin C, E, Ferulic Acid Serum
      czcams.com/video/LUXKlf3edpA/video.html
      A step by step tutorial on how to make a 30ml 15% concentration vitamin C, E and ferulic acid serum.
      This vitamin C serum helps to even out skin tone; good for helping to clear scarring and dark spots. I have also recently launched my own affordable Vitamin C E Ferulic Acid serum that is just as effective as popular brands like SkinCeuticals but it is a fraction of the price! The brand is Bombshell Bathtime, for just $24.97 (or get 2, one for a friend, with free shipping automatically). Get 10% off your first order! www.bombshellbathtime.com
      Bombshell Bathtime's Vitamin C E Ferulic Acid Serum contains
      17% L-Ascorbic Acid, and is the ideal pH, at 2.6-2.9 for effective skin penetration.
      Bombshell Bathtime's Vitamin C Serum also contains Vitamins B3 and B5 for even more effective skin lightening and skin conditioning, and hyaluronic acid to keep skin extra moisturised without any greasy feeling. I honestly think it's the best Vitamin C Serum on the market right now, as it is vegan, cruelty free, paraben free and silicone free, has only essential ingredients, and you can get it for less than $25 per bottle.
      Use this vitamin C serum after cleansing, and before moisturising/makeup. The serum can be applied on body also, not just the face. I've been using this vitamin C serum formulation regularly for several years. It helps with evening out and brightening my facial skin. I don't need moisturiser in summer if I use this serum.
      To DIY you will need: 5g L-Ascrobic Acid (New Directions Australia) 15-17 ml Distilled Water (Supermarket Laundry Aisle) 0.5g Ferulic Acid Powder (Lotion Crafter) A few drops of vodka (I got a mini bottle from a liquor store) A large drop of natural vitamin E (New Directions Australia) Sea Kelp Ferment (Bulk Actives) 2 small containers to mix ingredients (New Directions Australia or Lotion Crafter) 3X1ml spoons to scoop various ingredients (Lotion Crafter) 30ml dropper bottle to store serum (New Directions Australia)
      I accidentally stopped filming because I ran out of space on my iPod. All I did after the video was mix the two liquids and transferred it into the dropper bottle :)
      ////////
      No need for facial oil.
      For Retinol, wait till you turn 30 :)

    This is so true! I once had done the mistake using AHA & BHA together with retinoid. Turns out, this breaks me out everywhere in my face causing me a sensitive skin until now. And it took forever to recover. This is a very informative and useful video for those who like trying all the products without knowing the dos and donts!

    Hey! I just wanna say this is great video but you CAN use Benzoyl Peroxide and Retinols (specifically Adapalene) together. I'm a current resident in Dermatology and we actually recommend mixing these ingredients to patients all the time. These two ingredients are some of the strongest products for combating acne, but they can cause a lot of irritation for sensitive skin. So it's not for everyone. Consult your dermatologist or primary doctor first. But do know they can be used together at the same time..

      aruytpadyugf naaaah probably not a good idea. Visiting a dermatologist and applying all that topical Rx crap made my skin SO. MUCH. WORSE. Resulting in more doctor visits. It’s a great way to keep the business running, wasting our dollars and our time. Only to discover I was suffering from hormonal acne. Nice try 😂

      @aruytpadyugf Pƙed 6 lety +22

      I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out. Like I said, this combination can cause irritation in some people. But Adapalene (a form of tretinoin) is very affordable and doesn't need prescription. You can get it at CVS. Same with Benzoyl Peroxide. Good luck!

      I didn’t have the worst acne ever, but I felt very insecure about it. I went to the dermatologist and she prescribed me a retinol and a benzoyl peroxide. It did clear up my skin, BUT I suffered from really bad redness. It was way too harsh on my skin. I weaned myself off the topicals and my acne came back SO much worse. So I started using very basic products- not even products made for acne prone skin. Today my skin isnt back to normal completely but it sure looks better than it did!

    Ive had acne for years. Recently in desperation, i did several things which together, has helped clear up. 1) cut out makeup/foundation. This let my skin breathe and heal. 2) drink so much water!! Toxins build up and drinking loads will help flush them out. 3) i stopped picking and squeezing my face (easier said than done) and noticed a change, less breakouts. 4) invest in one good skincare routine brand. I use Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser and moisturizer

And i belive that if i wouldn't start this skincare routine my acnee would get worse every day. Im happy that you didnt need it at that age but she knows what is best for her skin

So introduce new skincare products one at a time so that you know which one works and which one doesn't, and then keep using them and give them enough time to do their job to really see đŸ€“đŸ’ž- fel

As of products you really just need: Cleansing, Hydration, sun lotion in the morning and a good Exfoliator here and there (the best ones are chemical exfoliants).
      But really, the most important thing you can do for your skin is to sleep enough, drink plenty and eat healthy!

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but AHA and BHA won't throw up the pH of the skin and deactivates the vitamin c , why we can't use AHA, BHA with vitamin C is because AHA and BHA are acidic and if you add more acidic substances like vitamin c it will irritate your skin since your normal pH stratum corneum is around 5,5.
    So you actually can mix them if your skin can tolerate them, they are both actually pH compatible. You can use AHA BHA to lower the skin pH of your skin and acidic skin condition will help the absorption of Vitamin C.

    I disagree with the "oils go on last" statement, that's simply not something that can be said for all facial oils in general. I put my oils after a toner because if I put them on after a cream they'll never sink in and will sit on top of my skin forever... Also, exfoliating your skin everyday is not something that you should do, that's a sure way to damage your skin.

      destiny child I agree... so many people think they know everything about skincare and it’s mostly because people hear something or get their information from false sources and they automatically believe that source because they seem like they know what they’re talking about... I try to only get my information from licensed dermatologists. Even still, some dermatologists seem to contradict themselves or they go against what other dermatologists say. It’s very confusing. In a way, it’s kind of like what I have to deal with being a hairdresser. I literally when to college for this and learned everything cosmetology related. It annoys me when I see videos pop up of people doing at home services and misleading and misinforming their viewers. But having said that, there are also youtubers who are supposed to be licensed professionals who actually do the exact same thing... WHEN THEYRE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THESE THINGS!!! Drives me insane.
      Honestly, I have about 4 or 5 different dermatologists channels that I get all the information I can from, write it all down, and compare. Whatever is repeated or seems to be talked about a lot, I just stick with that. Lol sorry that was hella long. Just went into rant mode.

      Otaku Live where’s your location? In the Philippines, it can be found at SM/ Landmark department stores and I believe in the states, you can find it at the drugstores. Try to check their website! :) “Pixi Glow Tonic To Go” for availability in your location

    Vitamin C and AHA have similar Ph and you can use them together. It is an old myth that you cannot.
    Vitamin C and Good Genes AHA have a very similar Ph actually 😊

    I use a BHA+Aloe+Snail toner with a Vitamin C+Hyaluronic Acid serum and I haven't experienced any weird irritations or acne? The combo has actually been helping to lighten up my acne scars pretty quick and almost seems to keep acne from forming. So idk?

      The hard thing about skincare is that it can differ so much from person to person. What works great for one person might not have the same effect for another. I think as long as you're not in any pain, or it's not causing any reactions then you're fine! But just pay attention to how your skin changes over time because what works now, might not later, or it could! So be mindful of that 😘Thanks for commenting! - Fel x

    Niacinamide with vitamin c? I use dr. Dennis gross triple c firming peptide serum then cerave recovering night cream which has niacinimide, hyaluronic acid & peptides. Sometimes my skin feels rough the day after with that combination. Any ideas or speculation?

    • @BeautyWithin
      @BeautyWithin  Pƙed 6 lety +3

      There's a lot of claims about using Niacinamide with vitamin c, if you read this article from Paula's Choice, they talk about it and say that it's fine - bit.ly/2K1azlx. I would say if it's causing some roughness you might want to try using using the firming peptide serum every other day, and use a different gentle serum on days that you don't and see if the roughness is still happening. Hope that helps! - Fel x

    • @spenana
      @spenana Pƙed 6 lety

      If your skin is having a reaction, stop using the combination. You may want to use the vitamin c during the day. Vitamin C can help boost your sunscreen, so it's often better during the day anyway. Use your recovering cream at night.

      Niacinamide is known to negatively affect the performance of vitamin c, it causes it to be less potent and can also cause potential irritation to your skin. If there’s a way you can apply the niacinamide and vitamin c separately (ex. Vitamin c in the pm niacinamide in the am) this might help you with your issue

    I understand that it's not good to use a BHA/AHA serum with a vitamin C product, but what about acid toners that pretty quickly sink into the skin? Also does vitamin C work well with niacinamide? Oh, and what if your moisturiser has (at a very low percentage) some glycolic in it, will that not work with vitamin C? Thank you!

    • @howudoin62
      @howudoin62 Pƙed 6 lety +6

      Nora Svihus You can ignore the advice regarding the avoidance of L-ascorbic (Vitamin C) and niacinamide (Vitamin B3). They can be safely be used together without worry. Some of the concern comes from old research that indicated that Vitamin C negatively reacts with niacinamide. The conditions of this study do not apply to current formulations so feel free to use them simultaneously! Here’s an article that delves into this topic further: kindofstephen.com/can-you-use-niacinamide-and-vitamin-c-ascorbic/

    • @saharlaafqarshe5438
      @saharlaafqarshe5438 Pƙed 6 lety +1

      Until the specific vitamin c and niacinamide products are pointed out, there is no way to know whether the formulations can work together. So until the OP discloses what they use, you cannot make claims that it is safe to use these products simultaneously.
