To be fair, that first stage in Driver is complete insanity
Yeah it wasnât easy that
I remember it took my family 3 days to do it.
It's easy when you know what the moves on the list mean. But without knowing that it's pretty much impossible yeah.
i did it and i was 4 years old..
After you work out how to do the techniques it's pretty easy. The President's Run (I think it was called that), the last stage in the game? That was mad. Driving a limo that handled like an oil tanker, with every enemy just trying to hit you head on. It was a great game, my friends and I used to have competitions on the mini-game where you had to hit checkpoint flags, constantly trying to beat each other's times. We learned the flag locations and got insanely good at it to the point we could tag them with the back of the car in the middle of doing a 180 to get the shortest route between flags. Then GT2 came out...
Funny to see Lewis struggling with those games. I never had a wheel so could probably give him a decent race on a PS1, which would be the exact opposite of real life.
Honestly , Mercedes need to release longer videos with Lewis , PLEASE !! đ
Ferrari will, they'll have contracted him to more media/PR duties than now
@@LiftingLimey ahhhh this is a great point actually đ - It's still early days but FORZA FERRARI ! đ
@LueLuetourJaxa oh, I've mentally checked out of Mercedes for about 4 weeks now đ
@@LiftingLimey honestly same đđ recent race week results have not phased me even a little bit because the future is looking SO BRIGHT đ - 20 more races to go !!
@LueLuetourJaxa I was mainly excited for 2026 but after seeing Ferrari's pace so far and the possible driver moves coming up, next year could be insane!
Blowing the disc, Lewis is a true gamer.
wat
@@Jev6 the disc might not be read because of the dust, so its always best to blow the dust out like every true gamer fans does in the old days
â@@drubo17we did it to cartridges, not to discs
@@radicalstanza3614 which is why the disc needs to blow to able to read

"i dont remember the box being like this" - a classic self-report of a lil pirate :D
I think it's cos he played the other Formula One 2000 game ... think it was psygnosis :)
It might be because he didn't play F12000 at all. Saying he always chose Kimi means it must have been 2002 or later
@@SOPHiELAWSON There were two EA F1 2000 games for PS1, this one called just F1 2000 and another one called F1 Championship Season 2000.
@@kenlykkeslett7501 would've been on different platform then, there are no F1 games of season later than 2001 on PS1

True
2025 we probably gonna add this: THROUGH GOES SETSUNA SCARLET STOOOOOOOOORMMMM~!
0:41 Driver, he knew he is gonna be worldchampion after beating the tutorial mission
The garage mission is the ultimate test for Lewis XD
â@@sgmasterbr7629Ren Hazuki and Kanon Shibuya both even still remembered that Tutorial Level in Driver 1 as well.
Its so heart warming to hear Lewis speak about getting a PS1 or a racing helmet. Just utter respect from where his roots lie and made his way top become one of the legends in F1 and got his his well deseirved 'Sir' title as a bonus.
Hamilton still the GOAT.
Lmao people will always buy this sob story. I grew up poor - the idea of having a racing go kart was like science fiction to us. I like Lewis, but this is garbage that people eat up.
@@anthonyreed480 Spot on, same as the race card being pulled. I was into carting but my parents could never spend that much money on the parts, staying away to race and parents missing time from work to help and fees!!! Carting isn't cheap and it's still out of the reach for young male drivers. While the girls/ woman get a free ride and pushed through quicker even if it is just to race in their own league!
@@anthonyreed480 Yes, they weren't near poor. He always exaggerates his story to make him look like he wasn't privileged.
I need a pukke bucket. This guy knows how to use drama to get people to like him.
The fact that he blew on the disc- flashback to my childhood đđđŸ
Exactly đđ
Which games did you used to play on your PS1? đ
Battle Arena Toshinden and Ridge Racer. What I recently discovered though was Castlevania Symphony of the Night!
Gran Turismo 1 and 2 â€
Tomb raider
Gran Turismo
Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis. đ€
I love how he's such a child within!
The difference between Hamilton's fans and other drivers' fans is that they love him passionately, not just for the driving, they love Hamilton with all their heart. He is without a doubt one of the most popular people in the world.đđđđđđđđ
Be nazaram har che zudtar hamilton bere, behtare baraye hame.

I'm massive max fan but like and respect SIR Lewis a lot đźđȘđđ

Old games and old screen. For me car games was the best. Old is gold.đđ»đđŒâ€
Can't beat the classics. Good times!
Back before micro transactions and greed took over gaming lol
@@randybobandy6020 Greed was always there from the get-go, just gotta look at the amount of bootlegs released on PS1 made by obscure studios no one had ever heard of, copying famous franchises just to make a quick buck, or all the FIFA games on PS1 too, all looking the same with just the roster being updated.
So much simpler and just as fun as todayâs gaming if not more so
old pc car games like nascar 1 and 2, indycar 1 and 2, grand prix 2 were the glory
istg Mercedes videos are always so short like wdym this treasure is only 3œ minutes??

Mercedes F1 simply doesnât know how to market themselves to a broader audience imo. They missed out on so many opportunities.
@@jr6136 Yeah youre right, though that being said I doubt Ferrari will let him do stuff like this.
Personally I think Lewis has a bright future in media in the future, i know he wants to go the music route but he would be so much better on a Car Show like Top Gear or a Twitch game streamer. I think he'd would be better at it than Lando or Charles.
I don't know why I love Lewis so muchđ
He's the best
Heâs kind, smart, good at what he does. Used to be a little playboy but has humbled a lot in the last 6-7 years. Would love to talk to him about how he deals with negativity no matter what he does.
Man, I can relate so much to Driver's first story mission in the parking garage. When I was younger, I never could get past the test. Put a lot of hours into the game. Amazing memories!
Qdo alguĂ©m queria jogar Driver, me pedia pra passar a primeira missĂŁo, era muito legal! Mas nunca consegui fechar o jogo, pois a fase do presidente era dificĂlima
Ah, yes! Driver, Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot. Takes me back... Good times, simpler times.
This makes me like the guy even more.
That moment of him saying âplaying as Kimiâ đź
But did you connect my drink
there's a nice video of Lewis in 2006 talking outside Kimi's mclaren garage saying how much he respects him
He played as Kimi in F1 games
And then in his first F1 season he has to battle him for the championship
Says "I always play as Kimi", proceeds to play as Mika đ
@@mgutierrez7737 I know he was a fan of Kimi but where can I find that video?
Lewis Hamilton is the goat at gaming
Brought back a lot of my own memories on playing these games. Him blowing on the disc is such a old school move that countless did. Keep the videos coming fellas
Me and Lewis on the same vibe. My absolute favorite promo video ever
so wholesome and relatable for us 90s kids
Exactly đŻ
My man picked up first Driver, my first PS1 game đ„Č
Itâs still crazy to me that these drivers still had childhoods like me. Saving up for games, doing chores etcđđ I always forget that theyâre not all bred like Max Verstappen probably wasđđlol
It was fun to watch and see more of his personality
Sir Lewis + Playstation = â€
Imagine watching Lewis playing video games. I would switch my phone off so no one would text and distract me
Of course, priority mode is activated
Starting with Driver, he is definitely a man of culture and taste đ
Colin McRae Rally 2.0 night stages are nuts
Amazing, Lewis play retro Gran Turismo!!!!
Lewis is proof that with hard work you can make your dreams come true.
That Driver tutorial level stopped a lot of people playing that game đ€Ł
we need longer videos with hamilton plz
Driver was so good for its time
It really was...
Driver 1 and that first mission is the reason why I know what a slalom is...
Desperation & confusion had me as a child searching it up.
Amazing how good these games look on CRT. I just got a CRT again and playing NES, SNES and stuff is a dream.
âCame secondâ⊠best finish so far
F1 2000 brings back so many great memories as a child, used to play it non-stop. Can't forget the Placebo "every me in every you" title screen track :)
That's great music of choice, Brian Molko been rocking hard at time
Same!!! One of the cooler EA soundtracks and they were early with that one.
The F1 theme is also very nostalgic.
I'm 1 month younger than Lewis, so this was pure nostalgia for me.
My eyes filled with tears. These are the games that marked my childhood and I still play them even today. Thank you Lewis. â€
The best Driver playing the best console !
For some reason, LH mentioning rally made life flash before my eyes
Collin McRae was great title, even cockpit view with moving wheel
For me, retro has always been something from the 60s and 70s, but now retro is already the 20s, my childhood, all these games, as if it were yesterday... Damn, time flies so fast
I miss those days when I was full of curiosity and turning on my PlayStation 2 was like diving into an exciting dream world. As I'm getting older and used to everything now, it will never be the same again...
Love this side of Lewis
Cool kids played Gran Turismo and Driver
Coolest kids played Tony Hawk

F1 2001 was my first racing game, the intro cutscene blew me away at the time
F1 2000, GRAN TURISMO 1 & 2, DRIVER 1 & 2, Colin McRae Rally 1 & 2.... Man, all of those childhood games from PS1 are still legendary till this day. I somehow needed 560.000 retries before even beating Driver 1's BRUTALLY DIFFICULT TUTORIAL LEVEL!
F1 2000 I used to play as Kimi.
Mika:
He's probably referring to the later years rather than F12000
Mind boggling how he now works with Kaz and Polyphony for gran turismo
The minute he put Driver in I knew straight away he was never getting past that first level lol
Such a real person. You can easily see how he came from humble beginnings. The 8-time world champion and the GOAT đ of F1!!!
He literally told you two different stories of how he got the Playstation in the same 4 minute video. So real. The realist.
Wherever and whenever heâs always saying something inspiring and I love that so much!
Driver and F1 2000..... Great games...that first stage of Driver was legendary!! I used to go back after completing the game just to do that stage... Burn outs, slalom, brake test and hand brake turns ... Oh yes!
Like me, I love spending my time entertaining with both retro and modern video games...
EXCELLENT LEWIS HAMILTON, GREETINGS!!!

Lewis going straight for Driver made me smile. Cause i'd do the same thing! đ
Great story about the helmet. I didn't know that. I hope they make an epic movie of him one day. (Otherwise I'm making it with AI đ )
His life is like a Hollywood movie, parts of Hamiltonâs story are so downright spectacular & crazy that people wouldnât believe it that it happened in real life! There HAS to be a movie about him 100%.
I really want to see Sir Lewis Hamilton presented with an old PC and a copy of Microprose Grand Prix 2 - that'll get the nostalgia fires burning!
Lewis is fine to see not only on the track, but also off the track. Imho he seems to be such a lovely person
Those are games i've had in my childhood too, damn, i wpuld have thought he would have played some older ones. F1 2000 is a gem.
Lewis Hamilton I love you â€ââĄ
Man Gran Turismo was so stylish for its time. Even the box and the CD looks cool
Ahead of its time
That first level in driver is notoriously difficult. It was a pain in the ass. Tempted to get it again. I still have my PS1 I got when I was 14 I think in around 1996. Loved that thing
My mans a Nintendo fan... Respect! First GT and Colin McRae were on such another level to the racing games that came before them. Mario Kart SNES + 64 and CTR amazing for more arcade multiplayer fun!
oh boy, I remember how much I struggled with that Garage intro mission in Driver!
Dam that brought back memories đ. Loved GT and I remember trying [and failing miserably] to do full length races with manual gears on F1 2000 đ€Ł. Cool video đ¶đ.
I'm digging the new era of F1 drivers having fun during time off.
We need more of this stuff
Ridge racer type 4 is the best racing on ps1, the soundtrack, graphics, the tracks, all in this game are 10/10â€
This is soo cool Sir Lewis have good taste in games đ€©
both legends together
This is brilliant. He's sometimes talked about having played old F1 games, playing as Kimi so actually great to see this. Thank you!
that opening test mission in driver aint no joke.
This brought me soooo much memories đ„you are a legend Lewis but you are just like us a simple human đgod bless
I love Lewis
I used to play Driver game in the summer 2001. It was one of my very first Playstation I games. Then I immediately played Driver 2 and it was even more awesome.
Driver II Is basically the predecessor of all GTA, even without the need for weapons. In driver II you could only go out the car and walk around and steal random cars around you. I played also Formula one 2001 on the first Playstation mini.
I grew up playing Mario on Super Nintendo, Sonic the Hedgehog on Sega Genesis. Then, it was Goldeneye 007 N64 and StarFox N64. Sega Dreamcast games such as Power Stone and Sonic Adventure. I had Twisted Metal and other games on Playstation 1. Budokai 3 on Playstation 2 and lots of other games. I'm an animator now. I worked at Pixar Animation Studios as an intern in Summer 2019. That was the most amazing place I had ever been to.
I never got out of the tutorial in Driver.... I was so mad I rented it for a week
I beat it on a rental. I was a mad man back then.
I used to play pretty much the same games as he did .. Iâm also from 85 and my first console was the first Nintendo !! đđŒ
I didn't realise how tough and deprived his upbringing was. What an absolute Legend.
Thankyou Lewis&Mercedes for everythingđ€đ©¶ what a road it was to see
Everything about this is amazing, his reaction to the games, boxes, the load times, the choices of games are epic, mentions of Colin McRae Rally, MK (I wish we had longer so we could see him play all of them) and I have to admit I would love to see Lewis in a Call of Duty VR/fitness rig đ the story about his Playstation growing up, the crt television, even the purple carpet is rad! Thank you for putting this together, I'm happy he stuck with taking the Playstation back to get the helmet instead, Lewis is a legend and still inspires me to keep moving forwards every single day đđ

It's hard to think Lewis as approaching 40 now still see him as a young driver đ Does the good ol blowing the disk as all kids were thought to do
That blow made the disc worth at least a millionđźđźđ đ
don't worry I didn't get out of the car park on Driver either
It's easy for me to forget that I'm only older than Lewis Hamilton by a week and a half and so he would have had the same experience with video games that I did as a kid.
my favorite pilot. return win lewis!!!!!!!!!!!

Crazy how heâs fond of F1 2000 and 7 years later he would be in F1 racing agains many of the drivers in that game.
Every time I hear more of his background story I get more and more respect for what he and his family have achieved. So inspiring to hear he comes from a humble background and worked his way up to be one of the goat's in an elite sport. Magic

Anyone who has played Driver knows what Lewis was in for when he loaded it up first xD hardest first stage of any game
Jesus Christ these same games from his childhood are the ones I was playing my senior year in college... I'm getting old đą
