Any suggestions appreciated, though it's only intermittent so not too concerned unless it comes back with CEL etc.

What is the best way to figure out whether the motor controller is sending wrong data, or the throttle valve doing the wrong thing upon it? I have figured out so far that on a 1998 GolfIV I have in idle conditions suddenly "slams shut" and the motor going off, after restarting everything is fine again. Now I am wondering if the controller is overcompensating something the wrong way, or if it sends the right things but the throttle valve is doing it wrong.

Have a 2010 vw beetle 2.5 engine. Have changed out crank shaft sensor already. Car usually runs fine but will sometimes stall out and will not start back up until after it sits for a few hours. This last time it stalled it acted like it flooded. We were able to finally get it started back running after we pumped the accelerator pedal a few times and held it to the floor, then it cranked but ran rough. A few more times of doing this it started running good again. Could this be the electronic throttle body? One time before it surged a couple of times like it was going to die but didn't, and after it was parked in the shopping parking lot upon ready to leave it would not start until after several hours and then fired right up. (The fuel pump relay pulls in and we can hear the fuel pump run every time we turn on the ignition switch). One extra piece of information is we have no check engine light illuminated, so I suspect no codes. Hope you can help.

Hey Dr. Humble im a fan of yours and I do have a few questions. I have an 2005 Audi TDI B7 140Hp 16v BLB motor. I have done the oil pump swap 2 years ago and it was all good, last christmas it smoked and stalled on a 1200km ride and had a new EGR installed.
The thing is after 4 months a Pollution light came on. I have erased it 2 times but always comes on.. 1st time the machine told it was the Mass Air Deb but I know it cant be, cause I dont have a loss of power. Just black smole when its on low revs and when I hit the throttle.
A friend said it is a bad mixture of diesel and air and it got me thinking that it can be the trotlle body.
The vacuum lines have no cracks and the throttle body has an rubber ring getting out and its leaking oil.. can it be the cause of it?

Is it possible to short out a tb? Was getting tb faults and epc light and realized that one of the middle wires going to tb harness was broken at crimp from previous splice per tsb. Wiggled the suspect wire while engine was running and throttle body acted strange and would struggle to idle even after running adaptation and repairing broken connection. Did I somehow fry it or am I missing something? Have 5volts to the harness.

Same issue, 2012 Golf 2.5 here.. I'm under the impression that since the sensors are built into the throttle body itself, you would need to replace the entire throttle body assembly. How did your repair work out, interested to know.. Also, can't imaging VW offering the entire throttle body for under 500 bucks, just my luck..

Charles, is there any work around at all for a 1999 Passat Aeb 1.8t TB adaptation. I'm trying to switch to a chipped Ecu that has been in the car before. Few years ago. Now when I put it in there no communication with the throttle body. I don't have vag-com yet and I've tried reaching out to local enthusiasts here in Metro Detroit with no luck. The two shops I called refuse to make it a quick cheap thing. I have to make an appointment and leave it for the day even though it's a 5 minute job. Edit. With the unchipled ecu currently installed it runs smoother than butter.

I have a 2000 VW golf gls 2.0 liter . Question what is the part located directly under the throttle body on this engine ? The car had a rough idle , and there is a rattling noise coming from the valve cover , so I pulled the manifold off to check my plugs and wires because of idle , and I left it sit like this for a while because I had no valve cover gasket yet and I wanted to take the throttle body off as well to clean it thoroughly , so I waited for this til I could get all necessary gaskets . Anyway today I noticed a black hose just hanging there and looked at it and it snapped and left the tiny clamp and part of hose on this part directly under throttle body. There is a I'm guessing solenoid of some sort attached to firewall driver side and there is another small hose that goes into the booster hoses. Is this some sort of vacuum line that snapped and was making my car idle rough ?

It rarely happens, but it's very dangerous the other day off the freeway for a few seconds. No EPC / accelerator pedal error code stored. The throttle valve was cleaned, the ground points to the control unit were cleaned, but it still happens every few days. He recently had a P0130 O2 sensor code, but after replacing the ignition coil / cables / spark plugs everything was ok. I still replace the O2 sensor in front of the catalytic converter, because there is supposed to be a connection with the accelerator pedal sensor. I also noticed that the primary air pump no longer starts when the engine is cold. 1.6 Beetle (Motor Code BFS) I don't have VCDS, just a small OBD scanner that shows fuel trim, temperature, TO position etc.

I've been watching your videos. I have a question. Car has been running fine but I was experiencing a tapping sound after a morning start and then it would go away, along with an intermittent check engine light coming on but never actually staying on longer than 60 to 90 miles. Mechanic cleaned the throttle and said to drive it for awhile and see if the check engine light comes back on, still have the tapping sound and now car sounds like it's overheating when I turn the engine off but no warning lights come on but it sounds funny and smells a little like plastic. I had them replace the catalytic converter a year ago, no work done on the car since, except for oil change but now this.
2006 Jetta 2.5.... Just a lady needing some suggestions if you can help I sure would appreciate it.

Probably somethimg wrong with ground or Plus on starter. Example on your battery. Clean all ground under battery from battery to engine engine to starter.

I’ve replaced my throttle body with a brand new continental one and I’ve done the tsb of the connection. I’ve cleared the codes and adapted the throttle body, but I keep getting p0221 and p0123.
Runs good for about 2 minutes and then epc and esp lights come on.

yo man I'm having problems with a Seat Ibiza throttle body, when I start the car it runs but the revs are constantly up and down from about 1000rpm to 2000rpm. The accelerator is completely unresponsive when its like this, I have already changed 2 throttle bodies because of this and read 2 actuator faults. I am thinking that maybe there are some bad connections or problems with the throttle position sensor in the pedal box but its not very obvious. Have you seen or heard about symptoms like these?

I have a mk6 tdi and the cable on the side moves in and out at regular intervals every 3 seconds. I can’t figure out what the problem is but it stopped for a month and came back. It stutters in a particular rpm range like it’s running out of fuel but that throttle is moving back and forth no matter how I drive every 3 seconds. It’s got a check engine light on that is meant to be something about fuel system very general code

I will add that it still acts like it's sticking, either physically or electrically, but it seems physical because it return with greater speed than it ever had on its own. The wire throttles in 2003 anyway we're a little sluggish, or maybe that's just how they are. But now i
when it unsticks, my car instantly GOES. But only for a split second and it's back to idle. No, that sounds more Electrical? I'm so confused, compounded by the tiredness and pain of trying to fix it all day. Please help.

I have no error codes but when driving sometimes the car shuts off for a second and it’s as if it bump starts itself straight back on it’s like someone is slamming the brake pedal down for a split second ?. Also I have Rev hang sometimes and if I’m driving at a steady rpm and I let off the gas and give it a quick tap and let off again there is some hesitation before the revs decelerate am I right in thinking this could be the issue ?. Any help is appreciated thanks for reading guys 😁

Hello, does this VCDS adaptation will help fix my problem?
Got a 2009 Altea tdi 2L 140 bkd and the throttle body valve was stuck due to cog had snapped inside so I replaced it for a new one and when I shut the car down sometimes it’s juddering still and sometimes it’s fine!,
Using OBD2 scanner got a p2108 code: Throttle actuator control (TAC) module - performance problem
Any idea what this could be? I’m pretty sure I can still hear the valve opening and closing though just sometimes it shudders on shut down and sometimes It doesn’t.

Dear. Eng, many thanks for your amazing videos.
I have Touareg 2008 V6 FSI Engine...I have unstable rpm in ideal position... I tried to clean the Throttle but still the problem.
Also when I turn on the A/C the RPM not increase.
is the problem from the Throttle ?
To be noted I change all spark plugs and the air filter and cleaned the mass air.
I hope you can advise me

When you turn AC rpm grown. Probably potentiometr has worn out and on higher rev work better. Or pressure sensor of power steering broken. Switch off these pressure sensor and check. put some pencil lead on the potentiometer track.use adaptation of throtlle. Check idle speed switch into throtlle.

@@mohamedalsayaghi are you searching for answer on internet vw forums? you have FSI well. Its different story carbon build up on the valves, maybe you have too much of it. another High pressure fuel pump your fuel filter is clean? the pump work with oil (probably in yours too) at idle rpm injectors stream can not be correct (you must check in VCDS whats your fuel ratio when your problem happend).compresion is fine in all cylinders? . Another timing belt or timing chain to check. Sparks plugs to check. Coils too. Engine temperature sensor its vw failure. Leaking in intake mainfold. Lambda failure.

I disconnected the Battery while i was working on the seat. Later i connected the battery and a think i heard the throttle in learning mode for 30 sek or something. Does this mean i have self programming throttle?
