Throttle Body Replacement - Volkwagen Golf

Changing a faulty throttle body on a 2000 Volkswagen Golf Mark 4 with the 1.4 litre petrol engine. This is the same as on a Volkswagen Bora of the same year and with the same 1.4 litre petrol engine. The engine wouldn’t idle when it was cold and you had to keep the revs up using the accelerator until the engine warmed up. Before you fixed this golf, when it idled was it lumpy/ rough and did you have a weird putting noise coming from the exhaust?

No, the problem I had was that the motor had failed inside the throttle body and the engine wouldn't idle when it was cold and it would stall. You had to rev the engine until it warmed up a bit before it would idle properly.

I have problem with EPC during the driving randomly turns on EPC light and put my car in safe mode, i read that the throttle could be a problem. When i turn off car and turn on again the car goes normally and no EPC light.

Before we start the engine, do we need to do calibration of the new TB, or we need to see jf the TB gives that sound after the igniton is on and than we do calibration?

My engine is AKQ 1.4 16V, and the ECU doesn't give an option of reprogramming, it's locked. I've bought other throttle body and now I can't do the calibration to see if this will work too.

The accesibility of this model is like 10 times better than on my seat ibiza. I have no idea how to remove the three screws holding the throttle.

so no cleaning of old throttle body(this would of corrected problem after calibration) no cleaning of top of valves while old throttle body was off so all the carbon build up will force the new throttle body to adjust to its limit and you will have the same problem again

I changed the throttle body because the idle control motor was dead on the old one.
