    Loved the in depth review; you touched on all facets a colorist/ artist would need to know prior to considering or purchasing these pencils. I missed your sample pieces though, I really enjoyed seeing your works of art. Danke!!

    It's a bit late in the day now, but I really like the ProColour pencils. They blend beautifully (no blender necessary in my opinion) and the colours are lovely. On the right paper they sing and with a little bit of effort they are pretty good on the wrong sort of paper too.
    I like harder pencils it seems.

    I have the 24 set, I don't like them! I find they are too hard and don't blend well.

    Thank you again for another informative review. It might be worth as you say buying open stock that way you can get the white. I wonder if Derwent's blender would work? I prefer prismacolor or my koh I noor ones. Best wishes to you Claire x

    Thanks Claire, I have managed to get the 72 set via your group for 69.00 inc p&,p being a great bargin considering the true cost via Amazon & Derwent. So am looking forward to try them out when receive them. I wanted your valid and trusted in my eyes your opinion and review. They are extremely pricey not as much as the new Luminance Coloured Pencils Swiss ones. Ouch they are well over the head lol. But these will be my last set of colouring pencils for the now. And have my swatching book ready and waiting bless. Thank you so very much for your review as always. Stay safe, Take care of you n yours big warm hugs from Us3 Lizzie, Josh n' Pixie May puss cat xxx☕☕🌻🎨🖍🖌😊🤗🦋

    Another great review, but a not so good product in my opinion and expensive for what they actually are. Tfs xo

      Elizabeth Naisbitt I agree. I had a very difficult time blending. I thought they were extremely hard. I'm new to coloring but I fell like I've acquired a good feel for the pencils. I have prismacolor premier, polychromos and holbein and I love them. I bought the whole set of derwents and regret it!

    TY for the review! The lightfast issue is sad for an "artists grade" pencil! I suppose if coloring for something temporary is probably OK, but at around $2/pencil, that's a deal breaker.
    Great review! TY!

    Thank you for this very informative and thorough review, i also enjoyed your review of Holbeins and am looking forward to trying both brands. What paper do you use for your swatches! Also how would you rate these to the Holbeins? Which do you prefer?

    • @ColourwithClaire
      @ColourwithClaire  Před 7 lety +1

      +WibbleyWorld Hi, I used Spectrum Noir paper which is especially for pencils, they sell it in pads. I definitely prefer the Holbein pencils to these. In my opinion Procolour are just a little too hard and I find blending easier with the Holbein.

    Very interesting review. A few people have mentioned the lightfastness issue but - like you said - colourists aren't that bothered about this, but artists will be. I wonder if Derwent will make them all lightfast for the next batch (a bit like Dysons improving their vacuums when you've forked out a fortune for the 'original' lol) once they receive lots of complaints. I mean, I won't complain about them but artists might..and they are a hard bunch to please!😉

      @ColourwithClaire  Před 7 lety +1

      +Jane Metcalfe Hopefully they will work on this but saying that, these pencils have been in the works for a while now & I understand Derwent asked a lot of artists for their input, so you would've thought they had already taken this issue into account x

      Fabulous review Claire! I was involved in the early testing stages of these pencils and really love the result! I think we shouldn't be too worried about the lightfastness though. With 90% of the range considered lightfast according to the Blue Wool Scale and 51 out of the 72 colours rated on the Blue Wool Scale at a level 5 or higher (that's the same as 2 stars minimum on the 3 star rating system), it makes them a great range. Its a matter of fully understanding lightfast ratings and they can confuse us if we aren't comparing apples with apples. Your viewers can make up their own mind by doing a bit of research here; www.painters-online.co.uk/articles-tips-advice/view,light-fastness-ratings-explained_5262.htm
      If you scroll down you will see the following information; To simplify their communication, some producers indicate the lightfastness with a number of stars, based on the Blue Wool Scale :
      • 5-stars rating system : ***** (7+8 = means excellent on the Blue Wool Scale), **** (6 = very good), *** (5+4 = good), ** (2+3 = feeble) and * (1 = poor)
      Since 2000, Caran d’Ache has marked artists pencils like MUSEUM Aquarelle or PASTEL PENCIL according to this scale.
      • 3-stars rating system : *** (7+8 = means excellent on the « Blue Wool Scale »), ** = (5+6 = good + very good) and * (3+4 = fair + moderate)
      Since the late 80s, Caran d’Ache has marked artists colour pencils like SUPRACOLOR, PABLO and PRISMALO according to this scale.

    Well done Claire, your little samples look lovely. I wouldn't worry too much about the lightfastness though - 90% of the range are considered lightfast and 51 out of the 72 pencils have a rating of 5 or above which is on par with most other brands. Take a look at what this means at this link here; www.painters-online.co.uk/articles-tips-advice/view,light-fastness-ratings-explained_5262.htm
