TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE HOUND Walmart Reissue Review

In Transformers, Hound was one of the original Autobots who crash-landed on Earth and fought to protect the planet from the Evil Decepticons. He was also the first Autobot that Spike rode in. This version, which is a Walmart Exclusive and “inspired” by the original toy and Transformers: The Movie, is a bit different from the G1 release. Captain Kyle checks it out to see if it’s good for your collection.
Hound is called upon whenever a scout is needed to sniff out the Decepticons’ location and plans. While his tech spec states he can project holographic maps, the cartoon took that further into creating full holographic illusions. The Generation One toy, along with this new version, has a spare tire and a gas can that are often hard to find when buying loose originals. This version doesn’t have stickers but might help fill in your G1 Autobot line. Captain Kyle reviews it in detail, and brings along e-Hobby Detritus for comparison.

The price point is a bit high and although i get why they’re trying to pull on the nostalgic string there’s little point since one of the most important characters won’t get this release, that being Megatron. As my G1 is completely busted and second hand market prices are silly I would have loved a re issue.

That's a little too much money for me to spend on a robot that will undoubtedly be overpriced by resellers and have that sort of paint finish on it. The desert coloured one I might spring for if I could find one cheap. One of the reasons I won't get the MP version is that animation style colour. Maybe it's the camera lighting but it looks too bright from what the animation was anyways. Even in the official photos. My favorite hound is still the binaltech version, but the G1 colours were also quite good. It's all personal preference. The arms are a bit too retro in the design lol. Certainly a fair knock on poseability for that price.
