    This year at SHOT Show, we saw Bergara’s newest offerings. The Bergara Ridge Carbon Wilderness was one I thought offered great value at an affordable price, warranting a closer look.

    Update on this - I've loaded and shot bullets from Berger, Hornady and Sierra through the rifle. Still trying to decide which bullets will be used for my hunting loads this year. Accuracy is hanging in there about like Gavin demonstrated a year ago, between 1/2" and 3/4" at 100 yards for three shots. Took it hunting last year, but didn't get a shot at a muley. This year I hunted spring bear with my good old 30-06 but have cleaned and put that away. I'm going with this 6.5 for the 2024 season including bear, mule deer, and possibly elk. Have to wait and see which tags I draw. It's light, handles well, the scope is just super and it doesn't slam the shoulder real hard either. Pretty sweet hunting rifle and I hope to fill my freezer with game taken by the Bergara this season. Best of luck to all of you hunters out there!

    I put together the exact rifle, chambering and scope. It shot Winchester ammo surprisingly well (both deer season xp as well as Super X. I also tested some federal/Berger, federal/swift, and barnes ammo through it. Ultimately decided on the Winchester XP125s. Great setup.

    I have this same rifle. Only difference is I have a Nightforce 8-32 on it. It does add a little more weight. I bore sighted just like you. I was six inches low and 2 inches left. I wanted my 100 yard zero at 2.79 inches high so I dialed that in on the Nightforce. I then did a five shot group and what do you know, it printed a 0.294 inch group. Happy as hell with my Bergara. The 7th and 8th rounds both took down white tails in their tracks. 👍👍👍

    People don’t understand carbon barrels after a three shot group are hotter than a steel barrel, you just don’t feel it cause of the carbon. You have 1/3 or so of steel in a carbon, they are turned down a lot. Just cause you touch the carbon and it doesn’t feel hot, doesn’t mean your turned down pencil barrel inside that carbon isn’t hot as shit.

    Just remember, the gun shoots amazing. Just don’t sit there and shoot 10 shots in a row at an animal and expect it to be perfect. Hunting guns should be tested by 1 shot then let it fully cool off to ambient then another shot. Not 3 in a row either. Target guns need many shots but hunting rifles DO NOT!

    • @larrywhite3786
      @larrywhite3786 Před rokem +3

      I'm going to disagree with this guy.if your only shoot a gun once at a time you will be very disappointed! If you don't shoot the gun alot you will never find out what you or the gun are capable of. Im not saying to shoot several shots in a row. But to shoot like three shots at a time to see how the gun shoots from cold bore to warm bore to find out if the gun will group or if bullet rises as barrel warms or if it goes right to left. Or if you need to just concentrate on your shooting.

    • @KC-7mm
      @KC-7mm Před rokem +5

      Sorry man but I completely disagree a hunting rifle will some day need to preform a fallow up shot. Grouping your rifle at the range shooting three shots in a row at a casual speed will show you if your gun properly groups the rounds you chose. Shooting one at a time without putting a little heat to your barrel will never show you how your gun will shoot in a hunting scenario.

      Big game often need follow up shots. Because they can run 70 yards off a cliff double lunged. So a “hunting” rifle needs to be accurate potentially at an even further or closer range within seconds of the first shot.
      This video just ended my shopping in carbon fiber barrels- as i was searching for a replacement of the Ridge Line i just sent to the manufacturer

    All great stuff. Too bad Bergara want to put ugly stocks on their rifles

      They have offered them in walnut stocks as well. I understand that those haven't sold as well, which is a shame. I really appreciate a nice wood-stocked rifle.

      @@jamesmooney5348 I see far more people underrating and whining about it than overrating it. It’s popularity is booming for good reason. It’s certainly not must-have if you prefer to shoot another comparable intermediate round, as we’re mostly splitting hairs comparing cartridges that do largely the same thing. 6.5 CM is not the best at any one attribute, but is as well-rounded as cartridges get.

      It's an old idea rehashed 4 times and now somehow its popular... the .260, 6.5x284, 6.5 wby. 6.5x55 Swiss. But the Creedmoor can do all? It's not the cartridge, it's the Bubba sniper "im Chris kyle because i walked in a shot" people who own guns in that cartridge that are the problem. I have one, it's cool, cheap to handload due to its popularity via brass and dies, great in shorter barrels IE LR308 pattern rifles, but it is far from the best everyone claims. So I get the criticism, I'm tired of it too and I have one.

    Why do you even bother with such cheap rifles and optics? Really 😮

      We work with rifles at many different price points. Using the top end rifles and components is quite rewarding, but we've found gems at much lower cost as well. Many of our subscribers aren't going to purchase a $5k hunting rifle, but are interested in a $500 rifle. Even the less expensive rifles can perform well. This one is what I'd consider mid-priced, and a good value.

      @@jamesmooney5348 I didn't realize spending 2500 dollars on a rifle setup was cheap. 99 percent of the people watching these videos including myself cannot afford to spend 3-5k on a rifle alone and then another 2500 dollars for an optic. And in general 99 percent of us don't need a rifle setup as such. We use our rifles every now and then on the weekends and then go and hunt with them.

    Did you use the long action or short action scope rings for build?
