Earlier this year, I showed the Bergara B-14 Squared Crest in .308 Winchester. You all asked for 7mm PRC - here it is!

I wish Bergara would extend the left hand option to other models in their line up and not just to the standard B14 HMR.
Came here to say this haha. For real, the HMR is a tank. It sucks hoofing it around the mountains. I would love some more of these options in LH.
I have a left handed rifle in 270 Win that I have used for 25 years and recently (2019)bought a 300 WSM which is right hand. The first deer that I shot with it was only 25 yards and came directly at me and I freaked out and reached over top the action to run in another round since it was happening fast and have always used my left hand. But if I had time I would have used my right hand. Not bad while sitting on prone, but sucks when walking and needing another round in the chamber (hopefully not because one shot one kill is the goal).
That being said I too really really wish the same thing. The Ridge should offer a few cartridges and same thing with the Hunter and the Square Crest.
I feel this way on all rifles. Manufacturers need to understand that there are a lot of LH shooters out there that doesn't always want to buy custom to get the calibers they want.
After playing with a lefty bolt and being a lefty for 40 years I can’t reprogram to be more effective with it. Sticking with the right hand bolts.
If made for Left-handed, I'd totally buy one!!! I even reached out to Bergara to see if they could make a custom left-handed B-14 Squared Crest in 7mm PRC and unfortunately they said not at this time.
Awesome rifle setup! That Crest in 7mm PRC is absolutely on the top of my list to get next. Thanks for sharing!
This looks like a custom rifle build! Perfect 21st Century gun for 21st Century cartridges. Really glad to see Bergara added the 7mm PRC. They've done a nice job on engineering their new rifle designs that check off a lot of boxes for both hunters and shooters. Great work and great video!!!
I just purchased an HMR in 7mm PRC. I LOVE Bergara rifles!!!
Great overview! Perfect timing too, as I just had my local gun store order me this same model yesterday.
What did they charge you?
Had to have this gun in 7mm PRC and just got it. Give me more on this one! More tests, more shooting, more versus other guns. Please compare with other bolt guns that are available in this cartridge. Love your stuff.
I would love to see some more 7mm prc reloading content!
Finally, I’ve been waiting for this review!
Such a tough rifle to find. I’ve been looking all over online with no luck. Solid rifle. Great video. 👍🤣
I've shot a box through a buddys 6.5prc and the rifle is awesome. From the action to the trigger and the the confidence inspiring accuracy I've been waiting for the 7prc go come out and have one on order now.
Great content just got mine Sunday love it awesome thanks for giving a great review love my 7s
Absolutely adding this to my collection!
Nice!!! Bergara looks like they knocked it out of the park with this rifle.
Thanks for the review! confirms what I had heard from backfire. Definitely would like to pick one of these up in 7prc
It's a winner!
The rifle I’ve been waiting for. Thanks for the review
Me too. Just ordered mine last night after seeing this review. Now I'm just waiting for it to arrive and for my Banish 30 to get out of ATF jail. Gonna be fun doing load development for this Bergara!
Thank you have been waiting for this video.
I was able to hunt with this rifle last fall and it went 2 or 2 on Elk (I got my elk and my son used it for his) at 712 yards and 715 yards with the Bannish suppressor on it. With this set up the Elk did not know what was happening and we were able to take another out of the same herd without them even reacting. Also was abe to go on a mule deer hunt and 2 white tail hunts all went without a problem. Zero issues with the gun in different 3 states. Like Gavin said the recoil is very light and it is a tack driver.
What bullet did you use and what grain was it?
@@edstettin6799 Honady ELDX 175
What a great looking gun. Glad it came out in 7 PRC I will own one.
I like floorplate magazines for hunting. One less thing you have to worry about. I have the crest in 300wm. I love it, but I’d prefer a floorplate, even if I lose 2 rounds of capacity. I shouldn’t need more than three when hunting, although it has happened. Overall, I love everything about the crest. I got one for just under $1500. Best Buy ever, just need to get me a metal magazine, but it works with aics mags so that’s not an issue. If I had extra money to spend I’d get another in 7mm prc. But I don’t think I need more than the 300wm. With the banish 30 it shoots like a .308 with a good brake. Super mild, I could shoot it all day.
How does it perform with the 22 inch barrel? That is my only concern.
@@ExplorersWorkbenchwith the banish suppressor it was getting velocity’s just above what the box said with 200 grain federal TA’s. Box said 2810, I averaged 2863. I don’t think the shorter barrel hurts it. It’s also nice to not have the extra length. If that’s your only concern, I’d say buy it. Sorry it took so long to reply.
I'm going to get one. Been waiting for them to release the 7PRC. Wish they released it a few months ago. Since I'm leaving for Elk camp tomorrow. Ooh well I will have it next year. Guess I gotta keep using my 6.5PRC
Those groups amazing. Great shooting, great rifle!
Thanks mate awesome review 🤘🏼
I ordered this exact rifle last week. It should be arriving in a few days.
I'm waiting on mine too. May I ask what glass you're thinking about for it?
@@darrellcrowson8588 I hunt mostly in the mountains so I'm going to get a Leopold 3.5x10
Got the B14 carbon in 7 PRC and absolutely love it. Running a Nosler 30K suppressor and it shoots like a dream. Supreme confidence. Highly recommend.
Very cool looking rifle. Also looks like to be of a very high quality as well. The only thing that affects my PERSONAL PREFERENCE is the two-lug bolt system. I am an unconditional fan of the three lug system as found for example on the Sako rifles.
Not a Bergara fan due to owning a 300 PRC in a wilderness Ridge and it would not eject loaded ammo and wouldn’t group either with factory match or hunting ammo. They ended up giving me my money back due to they wouldn’t fix the ejection issue. I bought a Christensen Arms Mesa LR and I’m glad I did it’s a tack driver and it ejects and functions like it should.
Just ordered mine today!
Now we are there!
I can fully get behind Hornday's heavier 7mm bullets from an accuracy standpoint. Shot well under 3/4 MOA at 1200 just recently with the 190 A-Tips
Yup, that is the gun. I will buy some time next year. If it comes out in a lefty, that would be a plus, but that won't stop a purchase.
I love it! I want one and have been hoping for clear evidence the 7 prc will stick. It seems it has. My ONLY worry is cheek weld. I want it to fit like a glove with zero aftermarket work.
Ive got the SP variant in 6.5 CM, 18" barrel. Cant beat a Bergara for the price and performance out of the box.
Looks Dope. Good video.
Absolutely this rifle in 7PRC is on my list
I have a B-14 HMR in 308. It will barely shoot 5-shot groups under 1 MOA. It will shoot maybe 4 out of 6 5-shot groups under 1 MOA. I sent it into Bergara to have it looked at. They shot a couple 3-shot groups through it (one of which was 0.98 MOA) and sent it back to me without even looking at it. I think the rifles are fine for hunting but for precision shooting they aren't even close. I will be buying Tikka from now on. My Tikka CTR averages < 0.5 MOA for 5-shot groups.
If you want to get the best out of your hmr you almost have to handload. I have an hmr in 6.5 prc. The bullet has .140 bullet jump to the lands. Decrease that distance to .020 or .030. Then see. Mine shoots 5/8 all day
@@mattfoster2642 I do hand load. The gun is just a complete piece of sh*t, easily the least accurate rifle I’ve ever owned in my life. I've spent nearly 2 years trying to find a load it likes. No dice.
Well, sorry about that sounds like a quality control issue with them. I've read alot of company's will guarantee sub moa but the fine print is where the bullshit lives. My guns a decent one. My gun like that is a browning x bolt. Not the gun I read about...
@@mattfoster2642 Honestly, I think there's something wrong with the 308 version of the B-14 HMR. I've watched a lot of reviews on the rifle and in most of them the 6.5 Creedmoor, etc. versions have no issue shooting sub-MOA/well below sub-MOA. In almost all the reviews for the B-14 HMR in 308, I'm seeing ~1-1.5 MOA 5-shot groups with premium factory ammo. This is pretty similar to my experience. I mean, that's not terrible for hunting but it's not what you'd expect from a rifle that costs over $1,000 with "match" in its name.
Wow you own some fantastic rifles. I am very jealous. My trusty 308 is starting to look a little bit old I might need to freshen it up
I want one, I wish bergara would release more models with fluted barrels
Impressive. I would consider purchasing one.😊
I have the Bergara 6.5 PRC 24 " Wilderness T. This is the best shooting rifle I own. Under 1/2" MOA. Most of my rifles shoot 3/4 Moa. BERGARS ARE GREAT.
Looks like a beautiful rifle! Could we get some fps ballistics coming out of that 22” barrel?
Looks like a great rifle. If I were planning to purchase a new hunting rifle in the near future, this would definitely be one of my top picks.
Just get a Tikka. Bergarbage is trash.
@@michaelhill6451tikkas are ugly and lack many features that should be standard on modern rifles.
@@bradenstackhouse1335 I don't care what my guns look like. I have a CTR that averages < 0.5 MOA for 5 shot groups. My Bergara, on the other hand, may shoot 4 out of 6 5-shot groups under 1 MOA. It's a good looking rifle with a nice stock but it doesn't shoot worth a damn and it’s pretty heavy too.
Bergara and Tikka both make great rifles. However, Tikka does not currently offer a 7 PRC chambering in any of their rifles. That’s why I was saying if I was looking In the near future, this one would be very high on my list. However, once Tikka begins to offer rifles in 7 PRC I will definitely be very interested in their offerings as well.
@@hunteranderson93Yeah, I will never purchase another Bergara again. The rifle I purchased from them shot like crap and when I sent it in for repair they just retorqued the action screws (which were already torqued to their spec with a calibrated torque wrench) and sent it back to me without even telling me they were returning it. Needless to say, it still shoots like garbage.
I think I’m going to need one.
I just bought the squared crest in 6.5 Creedmoor and it is an absolute tach driver at 350 yards. That is the furthest I have been able to shoot so far. That was with a simple Hornady 229 grain American Hunter round.
Yeah the new B14 Squared Crest and Weatherby Model 307 Range XP in 7mm PRC is my two new dream guns. Sadly I currently can’t afford an $1100 or $1600 rifle but hopefully 🙏 sometime soon or I might follow in the footsteps of Adam from Who Tee Who and get a 7 PRC in either the Ruger American 🇺🇸 Go Wild or Mossberg Patriot. 🇺🇸😎
Great Review ! I also like the convenience of detachable Box Mag in hunting scenarios rather than loading and unloading in and out of the truck !
I like the rifle , Not sure how much your loosing if anything at al with 22'' barrel ? So to answer my own question after a little research I found you go from 2965 with 24" barrel to 2927 with 22" barrel with same load. Difference of 38 FPS !! Also noteworthy losing 70 ft-lbs of energy at 300 yds With factory Hornady Ammunition ! That was surprising ! Not much of a loss even a greater ranges... easier to hunt with 22" barrel vs 25 or 26 with 7 Rem mag
Awesome!
That's nice. My next bolt gun is going to be a 7mmprc something.
Awesome video man I’m starting to really like those crest model rifles only thing that would make it better is carbon barrel model and m16 extractor then It be a great all around rifle I just can’t stand that sliding plate extractor to may bad things can happen. Thanks again keep up the good work God bless
Can’t decide if I want one of these or a Seekins Havak.. they both look awesome.
I own a Havak in 7PRC, it’s the most accurate rifle I own.
Seekins havak hands down
I am really leaning on getting this rifle build.
Will it come in left hand as well ? Great video as usual
I've been looking at the Bergara Wilderness Terrain in 7 PRC.
Just ordered one. Been using handed down family rifles for hunting for years. Figured it was time to get my own. Hope you guys are right!
Want it. Gonna buy it.
Good choice!
I want/need one!
I would like to see a video on the Bergara crest in 6.5 PRC
I ordered 1 week ago Bergara Crest in 7mm Rem Mag (EU only have that option in 7mm)
Looks great. I want min 24" barrel though. 26" would be awesome.
175ELDX muzzle 2765
Hey mate, here in New Zealand we have Suppressors that come back over the barrel by about four inches or so. So I am looking at these stocks like will I have to cut the end off a Foundation because my suppressor comes back too far. You should do a video on over barrel Nz suppressors. Gets the over all length of the system down.
Put another rib eye on the barbecue.
Love it, maybe I missed it, what was the weight after it’s all set up?
Wow. I might have to buy one... looks incredible.... What suppressor do you recommend for backcountry hunting?
Do these ever go on sale? Would I be able to grab one at a good price on day Black Friday maybe? Great video by the way, huge fan of this channel.
I shot my 7 prc with no brake and with different brakes. It doesn’t really feel like it has any recoil. I was expecting something huge but it felt like nothing. It’s a moss berg patriot with a vortex 5-25 I think. Weighs maybe 9 pounds
I have one on order when it's becomes available in Canada.
I have to " Behave myself " , the 7prc has been in my thoughts for a While now. It's my next Large Rifle purchase....if it's available
I plan on purchasing one...they are hard to find right now. Out of stock for most of the carriers.
Awesomeness
If I could afford this I would buy one for sure. I’m looking for a good hunting rifle in 7prc. Maybe in a couple years. Ya know bills and kids need most of the funds. I hunt to provide food for the year. Deer mostly, but with new pressure in my area I have to go deeper into the woods. I only have public land to hunt on. So a light weight rifle would be amazing.
How did it group with the muzzle brake on it and you should do a recoil and group test with the brake vs the suppressor
Just a heads up for reloaders. I've been seriously looking at the Bergara b14 lineup in a 7prc and in reading Bergara's user manual found online under their warranty is says the following:
and for those who'd desire to harass me for a specific reference from Bergara - its on page 32. Quote: "...below will also void the warranty:....use of impropper ammunition (e.g. ...reloaded ammunition, ...)."
Just something to be aware of if you reload, which I do.
How does this shoot off the shelf ammo? Hornady Outfitter?
The only thing I would like on it now would be to have it in a 24" barrel instead of the 22"
First I would like to say I really enjoy your CZcams! I currently have 3 Jarrett Custom Rifles - 25.06 and 30.06 and .284 Jarrett. Been looking at getting a Bergara 7 PRC, but can't make up my mind on which model. Any suggestions? Thanks for our time.
I love the look of this rifle. If you can find one in stock you should try the new weatherby 307, looks like a cool platform and the range model is really reasonably priced as well. It’s also in 7prc so it would be an interesting comparison between it and this bergara. I know the vanguard and the standard b14 are really close competitors.
Brought buddies vanguard 06 home to test today…tiny rifle…big recoil
I really like what Weatherby has done with the 307s........ except they made the threaded muzzles 1/2 X 28..... I can not figure out why they did that. Industry standard for centerfire rifles (bigger than .223 in most cases) is 5/8X24... So now everyone who has existing muzzle devices for their other larger cal rifles has to either buy new muzzle devices or use an adapter. I'd love to get an answer to why they did this. There has to be a reason why they did this but I can't think of a why though
@@beenstorkbarrel diameter
@@beenstork@beenstork I would like to know why too? I think it is because Weatherby's barrel profile contour is probably a #2 contour fluted to keep the weight down. Because of this narrow taper at the muzzle, I'm only guessing they have to use the 1/2x28 thread., there is not enough muzzle material to thread 5/8"? I also wish they would chamber the 7 mm PRC in their Vanguard models and not just the Range 307 XP. I like the fact their Vanguard 6.5 PRC is on a long action, with a hinged floor plate for hunting and I wouldn't have to worry about loading 6.5 rounds with reloaded long 156 EOL Berger bullets if I go that route. Just haven't decided yet.
Nice rifle! I would like to see more load data, and development with other bullets and powders, and maybe even an EC tuner
I just bought this exact gun in the 7 PRC. I have not decided what scope to put on in yet buy leaning toward a Swarovski Z5i . The weight of the gun is evenly balanced and handles perfect. I have custom rifles built by Bergara and this factory gun is close to these custom made rifles. My question is, does anyone have an issue with the magazine not fitting tight? The magazine I have is loose fitting and it makes enough of a noise when you pick it up. Does it fit better when is loaded with ammo? My suppressor has been ordered and will look almost like the gun in the video.
I just sent my second bergara crest 308 back. The first one would not shoot MOA groups. They replaced the rifle and the second one is also struggling to shoot MOA groups consistently. Did try the second rifle in an MDT chassis and it started shooting great groups. Both rifles hated every factory hunting load I tried.
It was obvious the problem is you the moment you brought up "hunting" load. Learn to shoot, stop using minute of deer rounds, and get a proper optic.
@@StuninRub the only obvious thing I see is you being an assuming keyboard warrior who doesn't know what he's talking about.
@@JessePhillips2020 Honestly there's not enough information to go off of. Did you try different weights, velocities, off a rest or lead sled? Bipod, brake? All of those can affect accuracy, and if it's for hunting I can only assume you'll be shooting off hand, which absolutely reduces your accuracy when compared to bench rest.
@@itsthorondil7608 it wasn't a post for troubleshooting necessarily but just to let folks know my luck has not been good. Two of us shot off bipods, sand bags, 150 hunting and 150 match ammo along with 168 hunting and 168 match. Different scopes, different days, cleaned between groups, with brake, without brake, with suppressor.
I have the squared crest in 6.5 prc. Really wish it had the 22” barrel of the other magnums because I’m getting barely above 6.5 creedmoor (published 24” barrel) velocities with factory ammo. Hornady precision hunter eldx at only 2768 avg.
Going to see if I can get the Berger 156 gr eol up to 2850 out of it. I think I would be happy with that.
I had the same reservation when looking at the Bergara B14 Crest in 6.5 PRC. I do prefer a fluted steel barrel. I thought it would have been perfect if it had an option for a 24" barrel instead of it only coming with a 20" barrel. I also have reservations with the Bergara 6.5 PRC having a short action. I am not sure how well it will chamber long reloaded rounds from this restricted short action magazine if I load Hornady 147 ELM and Berger 156 EOL bullets longer. Well, at least the 7 PRC comes with a 22" barrel and a long action. I was also thinking about the B-14 HMR Wilderness at 8.2 lbs with the 24" Carbon fiber barrel. But kinda getting on the heavy side though for a hunting rifle by the time I add a 32 ounce 5-25x50 mm FFP scope and rings. Still trying to decide what to do though. Hmm 🤔
What velocity were you getting out of your 28" 7 PRC build?
Looks are half the battle and that battle is won.
I’m in Australia where suppressors aren’t possible. I’d be interested to see how this rig shoots (and recoils) without the can or break.
The brake and stock design are good at managing recoil. It’s honestly close to a 308, maybe a 30-06 with just the break. It’s definitely comfortable enough to shoot all day. It is loud as hell with the brake. That being said, 150-165’s are a lot more comfortable than 200 grain. 200’s might bother some people after a box. Without the break….could be a little rough in the higher weight bullets. Haven’t shot mine without the brake.
I am looking at that exact rifle. I am torn between whether I want the CroMo barrel or the Carbon fiber version.
I just put one on layaway today at my local gun shop
Stuck between getting a 7prc or a 7 rem mag for my first out west big game rifle, the availability on 7rem mag ammo and reloading components is better but the 7prc looks awesome, and this gun is on the list as an option!
Yeah same thing I had been contemplating. I ended up deciding on the 7mm PRC. Now I'm trying to decide what gun. Then scope. Then try to find what ammo the gun likes. Lmao
@@normalguy556the vast majority of what im seeing and hearing is if you want a 7prc vs a 7mag and you don’t already have either go to the PRC. I only own a 7mag but I don’t see anything that would make me think it’s worth investing $2k or more into another setup.
@DavidBanks02 I have a remington 700 long range edition in 7mm rem mag. I'm looking to go elk/muley hunting, so this rifle doesn't really fit the bill imo. So I need to find a different rifle anyway. I never shoot it anymore, so I plan to sell it. What intrigues me with the 7 PRC is the tighter tolerances Hornady imposes for barrel manufacturers, and seems to have better factory ammo options when it comes to wind drift and heavier loads. I think it will slowly replace the 7mm rem mag, and the rifles are priced the same either way. Ammo is easily purchased online for both, and 7mm prc hornady 180gr match can be found for $40 a box and can be shot into under .75" groups with a relatively cheap rifle due to the previously mentioned specs imposed by hornady to rifle manufacturers.
@@normalguy556 i respectfully disagree that 7RM is going anywhere soon. I think it will be quite some time before we see 7PRC in great numbers on shelves everywhere. But I do agree that 7PRC does seem to have much better off shelf accuracy. But if you’re a plain Jane hunter I don’t think the accuracy change is anything to be worried about in the practical world.
@normalguy556 got 3 guns under half inch 175 hornday
I’m buying one as soon as I graduate
I hope they come out with a 300 PRC in this platform.
LOL if my Ruger American doesn't Perform I am buying the Bergara........for sure ...probably buying it Regardless, I am a little hesitant of the fluted barrel though
Great review BTW!
Can you compare CVA Cascade LR 7PRC please?
Gavin, did it come with that 20 MOA rail? Was the 1.6 pound trigger pull the lowest it went?
What is the thickness of your 700 yard steel plate? It has the best "ding."
would love to buy one, lets get them in stock....
what do you think of the 7PRC for benchrest long range 600 - 1000?
I want one, trying to decide if I want 6.5prc or 7prc for and all around hunting rifle. Any thoughts?
I have the Crest in 6.5PRC... have not shot it yet. Where can I learn about the rail you put in place of the two sling mounts?
Just looking at changing calibers for my next project. Was looking at either this (7mmPRC) or the 6.5PRC. With that rifle being SO light (7mmPRC), how is the jump? Seems it would be hard to keep on target.
Someone should make a locking magazine mechanism
Where did you get the arca rail and bipod? Directly from MDT?
In this exact configuration even down to bipod. What is the total weight of this setup minus the surpessor ?
Any recommendations on replacing the DBM with a hinged floor plate? Didn’t like how far the 5 round mag stuck out so I purchased a 3 round mag and it’s definitely better, but looking for a better hinged floor plate option for this rifle.
I would contact Bergara to find out what the pattern is (Ex: is it M5 cut?). Or look at a different rifle!
I really like this rifle however I can’t find it in stock in 7 PRC anyplace.
EuroOptic just got some in this morning.
The new carbon version came out. Anyone have input on that? I’m torn between the crest carbon and ridge carbon.
