CZcams will always be CZcams. You will always be you. In the end you took a car that has a stereotypical view as being a low grade rc car and you made it great. I think it was a great eye opener to those who watched and the enjoyment we received was priceless. Great job my friend.

The work put in vs the reward doesn't marry up on CZcams. On top of that, the demand people put on a channel is very high like they deserve amazing free content as a given. It is tough to make it in this arena, especially with a niche hobby. We live in a high demand throw away media sociaty is my take on things. I appreciate the details, the passion and the knowledge you have shared on this channel and learned a lot. Glenn, just fyi deans are only second to Tamiya plugs for lowest amperage rating. Only 30amps for a deans. The yellow (XT) plugs are rated at their name size. XT60 is 60 amp rated, XT90, 90amp etc.

    • @paulblack3608
      @paulblack3608 Před 2 lety

I have to agree. I've stuck with deans for a number if years on all my models from cars to tanks to quadcopters, and they are small, cheap and nice to work with. BUT, recently I've had a very expensive quadcopter drop like a stone in a bean field and wreck a very nice carbon fiber frame. After some investigating, all electronics still worked and everything was fine (except for the broken frame) finally found that while running, a gentle squeeze or twist on the main battery leads led to it cutting out very breifly. Of course the flight controller reboots in mid air and then of course a crash ensues. Bottom line, a 50 cent deans plug brought down my 1000 plus quad. The little springs on the connector blades notoriously get weak and the connection suffers.
That was enough for me, I ordered a big bag of high quality xt60 plugs and I'm changing every single model I have to that format. I love the old deans, but they just not up to the task.
      Cheers.

I was only 10mph off 2s speed which a bigger pinion or smaller spur would of sorted out😁. I think something was going on with the 3s battery coz the speed difference was nothing to write home about, didn't even accelerate any quicker.. but 5000mah upwards should be plenty of power for 3s.

    Just did a quick math.
A 64 t spur combined with a 29t pinion will bring the final drive ratio down to 5,74:1 and a theoretical top speed of 110 km/h or 68 mp/h with the 5400kV motor. This was calculated with 8V battery voltage, 90mm wheel diameter, and an overall loss of 10-12% in the drive train. As a comparison, i have calculated a top speed of 88 km/h for your video setup with these assumptions. Not too bad...😉

The CZcams gods seem to have more to say on how a video goes down than anything else, I wouldn't worry about it. I think you've done what you set out to and then some, it's a great little series. Maybe it's down to your audience being more build focused than racers? I really enjoyed seeing the progression at the track and have never seen a modern track so personally I really enjoyed the 'finale'.
Really glad you got some good use out of the motor, I guess it could be the battery or even the ESC? at 60amp it's not a massive esc. If you have a 2000mah 30c or 3000mah 20c it should at least match the esc.

I have enjoyed watching you prove that these cars can be great. I was particularly interested as I recently built the on road tt02 '73 porsche kit over the winter. My first Tamiya kit since my falcon in 1986. The car is breathtaking and with a few key not too expensive upgrades like bearings, oil shocks and improved steering linkage, the car is fantastic. Quick, reliable, and amazing scale detail.
These tt02 kits may be the best current deal in rc modelling. They are high quality build kits. Reasonably easy to build, tons of available parts and upgrades and the scale bodies are epic. Also, the price point puts these within nearly everyones reach as modern rtr cars can be $800- $1000 or more. For $200 ish tamiya kits you simply cant do much better nowadays. Back in the day, I switched to team associated to race with. I still have my A stamp gold pan and my original kyosho ultima from the 80's but this modern kit has proven to be great fun for a few hundred bucks. Not going to race it as I dont care about any of that anymore but these kits are great fun and thats what matters most.
I converted mine to a 2s 2p 18650 lithium ion battery and it runs well over an hour on a charge! Quite different than the 4-6 minutes we used to get.
Hats off to Tamiya for stiil making affordable, kit build experiences in rc cars. They are really good fun.
    Cheers.

Now I am off to watch the last track video in the series as for some reason I managed to miss that release, probably just yourtube notifications and wanting trying to push other non tamiya stuff for what ever reason.
As for ending this series, if you are no longer enjoying it as much its time to move on to the next project. As you can always come back to it in the future if you find a different combo of stuff you want to try and share with us, or not. Either way It was really good seeing a TT02B breaking the UK speed limit for an A class road, even if was only my point something of a mph and that feels like a big speed mile stone for a 1/10 RC car you assembled and setup yourself.

Think the whole TT-02b series may have encouraged more people to try racing or tuning their cars even when just zipping around a carpark.
Great video showing another use for the TT-02 chassis think the only thing I haven't seen a TT-02 do yet is fly 😄
That that particular max 10 combo is made for 2s rather than 3s the ESC can take 3s but the motor is only rated for 2s iirc. squeezed one in to a TC-01 and its ballistic 😀

I could be wrong, but I think with you taking the car to the track, people may have been expecting and looking forward to seeing you race the car, especially now that you had the lap times down, so I think it’s more just that people probably just thought that last video was another stepping stone to seeing this car race. All the best mate, as the saying goes, you can please some of the people all of the time… you know the rest 🙂

Someone else here mentioned the xt60 plug over the Deans style and I have to agree with them. I ran almost the same combo of motor and esc in a Tl01b, started with a deans but when it bit the dust I swapped to a xt60 and the difference was very noticeable... more punch and seemed to be faster on top end as well. 2s was fast 3s was almost uncontrollable.

Hi Glenn, great video! That speed on 2S was amazing. I would agree with other comments looks like either thermal cut out or the battery just not having a high enough C rating. It looked like your return passes were slower which made it look like the car may be slowing down due to overheating. However a better battery and XT60 might help too. Whatever the case, 60mph is also pretty decent for 3S. I also enjoyed the journey you took this car on and how it did at the track 👍

Glenn, with that ESC, you can literally go into 17.5 stock class racing! I mean, I get that you’ve hit the goal you’ve set out for with the TT-02B but I feel with that Max10, it can be so much more!
Glenn, I enjoy the running videos. Lots of things to learn and learn from. But even if this is the last we see of her, what a series it has been and it just goes to prove you don’t need a big budget to have a good car.

Really enjoyed this project!.. and that definitely includes your track time with it. Sorry your views / comments were disappointing and left you feeling a bit flat. I think it was time we’ll spent!
That 3s battery is definitely not up to the job - but that’s possibly a blessing in disguise as far as your new motor combo is concerned… that 5400kv is not meant for 3s as 11.1v takes it to almost 60,000 rpm (unloaded) which is 10,000 rpm over its rated max!
Weak battery probably saved it from self destructing!
I was really impressed how stable it was at the speeds you achieved. Testimony to a considered and well executed build. 👏🏻👏🏻

Hi glen fantastic video as always, electrically speaking the high the c rating on a battery the less voltage drop you get from the pack eg with the 3 cell lipo the voltage probably dropped to just above the 2cell pack. Think like this big Diesel engine trying to start on a motorcycle battery v car battery both are 12 volt but only one will spin the engine fast enough to start

Nice job Glenn, i have really enjoyed the series.
I would have liked to see you feel the motor, speedy and battery plug to see if there was excess heat causing the lack of power, or your 3s battery just isn't putting out enough current and causing voltage drop under load.
Great job on 2s though, looked and sounded so smooth.
Ps, i don't agree that dean's plugs can only handle such low power as one of your other comments said. I run them on most of my cars including several 4s powered 1/8 scale buggies with much bigger motors and 160amp speedys,, drawing WAY more power than your are here, and they never even get warm during use, indicating they are not high resistance even at that load.

Try running it with the thermal temp wire unplugged on 3s and see if it's going into a temperature or load protection and pulling timing out. I run a easy run Max 10 with a 4000 KV and I've been able to smack it with the 3s I usually only run it on 2s because it tends to tear my truck up on three and I do know that you have a higher KV but that motor should be able to take a 3s but it might be getting hot with that pinion gear size.
