I mean, let's be honest here, Mitch sounds more like Lorde than Lorde does. And Kevin and Avi just drive the whole song. And I will NEVER get tired of that sassy little "I'm in love with being queen" Mitch almost whispers. They are all just so insanely talented!! I love them so much!!! And you too Matt. I love reactors like you, who aren't ashamed to let people see them being affected by a song. People are not machines. If you are listening to music and not bobbing your head, tapping your feet, pounding on the steering wheel and singing at the top of your lungs, you aren't doing music right.

Yes! Their original music is do damn good and often overlooked which is a shame! Love Again will melt your brain cells. Sing is one of those songs that makes you happy. Happy Now, Coffee in Bed, Love Me When I Don't, Be My Eyes and so many more. Also, their originals that don't have official videos get passed over by reactors which is just sad. The ones without videos are hidden treasures, just a few that come to mind are Anchor, Ref, Water, Cracked, Petals and so many others! You would love them all and us Pentaholics don't need to see a video to appreciate the music and your reaction to it!

I would love to see your reactions to Starships Are Meant to Fly. It would be especially great to watch now that you have seen the Sing Off. You know they took their winnings and all relocated to Los Angeles to get to work on their Sony Label contract. Then Sony dropped them. Instead of letting that take the wind out of their sails, they turned to You Tube and the couch in Kevin's apartment (hence the frequent couch references as in Bohemian Rhapsody cover) and proved Sony wrong at which point RCA signed them. This Starship cover is baby PTX at their finest with a wicked humor to it and some rapping from Mitch they mirror their own story with this cover. Another of their covers that is an important part of their story is their cover of Somebody That I Use to Know. It is one of their very first You Tube video covers done on a budget that went viral and launched them into the stratosphere. It is so good!
And, finally, I whole heartedly agree with another commenter that you should start diving into their originals (all of them, even and sometimes especially the ones without an official video) Love Again, Happy Now, Sing, Anchor, Ref, Love Me When I Don't, Coffee in Bed and so many more. Thanks for your great reactions. Look forward to many more!

It’s the only Christmas music I listen to year round. I used to be so tired of all the old Christmas standards, but Pentatonix breathes new life into them and upgrades them. When I’m having a bad day, O Come All Ye Faithful (really!) is the best medicine!

The timing on this video release couldn’t have been better for Pentatonix. One of the group (I don’t remember who) had heard the Lorde original long before it started getting attention here in the States and they brought the song to the group as a potential cover. So, they recorded the song and filmed the video, and that dropped on YT just as the original started getting major airplay. Other earlier videos of theirs went viral and got 5 million views in the first month. This one doubled that, and then in the next few months came The Evolution of Music and Daft Punk, which barreled to 100 million views in 3 to 4 months.
As soon as you said you were crushing on Mitch I thought oh boy, here we go. 😊

This video was actually my first introduction to Pentatonix (don't quite know how that happened, but there it is...) And I still remember my confusion when Mitch appeared and started singing. I already knew they had a girl in the group, so I was looking at Mitch and thinking "Is he LIP-SYNCHING to the girl's lyrics? Why would they have him do that?" And then Kirstie came in with the harmonies, so I knew that *must* be Mitch's actual voice and I was like "DAAAAAMMN, that dude can SIIIINNNG!!"
...And yeah, isn't that just The Greatest Sass Moment Of All Time when Mitch says "And I'm in love with being queen" and smiles right into the camera?
Oh, and please don't worry about listening to their Christmas music. Well, maybe worry if you're afraid it'll be TOO good... 😉 I was bummed when I heard they'd covered 'The Twelve Days of Christmas,' because I *absolutely full-on HATE that song with all of my being,* and I was afraid there would finally, actually be a Pentatonix song I couldn't like, no matter what... Nahh, they nailed that too, and it's now the ONLY version of that song I could ever listen to without wanting to pour molten lava in my ears. Their 'Mary Did You Know?' is just EPIC, and if their 'You're A Mean One, Mr Grinch' doesn't make you adore Matt you might want to check your pulse.

Agreed, Carol of the Bells is a must. I would suggest the original version first, with Avi, followed by the live version, with Matt, from one of their Christmas specials, can't remember the name off the top of my head.

They definitely tend to upgrade when they do covers. There are a few that are equal to the original, but that’s usually because the original is epic and they are paying homage, like Imagine and bohemian rhapsody.

First one you react to please Joyful Joyful from their Evergreen tour. Then you are off and running. Better pick which songs you will react to and start early, their Christmas music catalog is HUGE.
This is another of those PTX upgrades that, IMHO, are so much better than the original. I never liked the Lorde original, but now I love this!
I think everyone who's ever seen PTX has had a crush on Mitch at some point. My sister calls it a competence kink. And let's face it, he's perfect at whatever he does, so it's not really surprising. You should really check out the video that documents his vocal range. I think you're ready for that by now. The risk of it frying your brain isn't as high anymore

I have seen them live twice, one Christmas. Both are magical.
Loved this one! Another prime example of me hating the original song because I’m just not a fan of Lorde but absolutely loving the PTX version. Mitch is my absolute favorite of the entire group even though they’re all awesome and he was amazing in this song but I also have to give it up for Avi as he absolutely killed the bass and the beat in this song.
It never fails to astound me how they can tweak the arrangements to make a song so much better than the original. The fact that this group never gets any radio play other than at Christmas time is a crying shame. They deserve that and so much more.
That being said, you will freak out over their Christmas music… so, so good! Looking forward to many more PTX reactions from you. Your enthusiasm just shines through and makes the day a little better 💜

I studied vocal music all the way through college and have sung every holiday song imaginable a bajillion times and honestly was over most of it until PTX unleashed their genius. Now I listen to Christmas music year round. Excited to watch you hear them for the first time!

Highly recommend their upgrade of Shallow, you will never be able to listen to that original again either! Kevin and Kirstie are the standouts on that!
You are so right. I cannot listen to an original song anymore. When I heard their "upgrade" of The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights", and then I heard The Weeknd's version during the Super Bowl a few years ago, I was disappointed PTX didn't perform that song at the Super Bowl instead. The Weeknd's version was lack luster. I've heard other reactors say when a new song comes out, that artist should beware because if PTX gets their hands on it, it will certainly be an upgrade, and nobody will listen to the original anymore.
You should watch the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy one. So good!
