I'm 65 years old female Japanese.
I always like Godzilla. I 've watched most of Godzilla movies and TV dramas. When I was a kid I always had a dream in which I was running away from Godzilla, and I heard many people had the same dreams.
I of course going to see new upcoming new Godzilla movies.
How do you feel about the current American Godzilla movies? From 2014 - current year?

I grew up in the 80s and they showed a lot of the older movies on TV, from 50s to 80s. I prefer the costume look because it looks more raw and realistic. I don't care much for the computer animation ones. I think Jurassic Park should do a version with Godzilla. 😁

Every incarnation of Godzilla was the greatest superhero of our generation. No matter how they tried to paint him as the evil antagonist, he was always a keeper of the peace. And just the most Bad-Ass champion of the human complex.
Fun fact, Godzilla vs kong. Kong was actually stolen as Kong was not a kaiju or Japanese-owned but a Warner brothers' property but the only reason they didn't sue was because it made them a lot of money
Not really. The real reason why they're able to use Kong because the character King Kong is trademarked and it's current owners are universal studios (previously Turners entertainment) so to avoid using the term king Kong or the character itself, Legendary created their own version under the label Kong which fall under parody and still counts as fair use. With the character personality traits being very different compared to the original Kong and this Kong is far larger than the original.
Toho owned the rights to Kong during the early 60s till they lost their license to Kong. But they are able to keep mechani Kong due to being a original property from Toho themselves.
This is why Toho was able to produce I think 2 King Kong movies before losing the rights. Warner brothers or turner entertainment will take down these movies if Toho Made a long movie without their notice.
I believe it was public domain for a time...
Wow, what I love most about Godzilla is that he his extremely resilent and never backs down. His crying sound is the best part.

Godzilla almost drowned Kong with only the US Navy depth charges saving Kong. Thus proving Godzilla to be supreme.
Kong was out of his element. If they fought on Skull island the outcome might have been different.

The original Japanese 1954 version of Godzilla is like the original 1933 King Kong the best of the best. In 1954 Godzilla was a monster period no ones friend and was what a monster is suppose to be scary. Even today's CG special effects cannot compare with the value those original special effects had at there time. Even today that 1954 Godzilla story puts the newest ones to shame.
Godzilla Minus One has entered the G catalog.
GMK already surpassed it in my honest opinion especially given its slasher dark tone vibe and its continuity to it and now GMO which is like a remake of both 1954 and GMK mixed together

In the classic films, Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla should have been right before Terror of MechaGodzilla, as Terror is the direct sequel. Now if you're ONLY showing the slight changes in the physical appearance of Big G, then MechaGodzilla should have been listed instead of Terror.

I watched up until Godzilla Vs. Biollante and became frustrated with the number of movies you had skipped over. You skipped Godzilla Raids Again (the only other b&w Godzilla film), Godzilla Vs. Ghidorah, Invasion of the Astro Monster (also known as Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero), Destroy All Monsters, All Monsters Attack, Godzilla Vs. Megalon, and Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla (which was part one of Terror of Mechagodzilla and introduced King Ceasar). You left off about half of the Showa Era.😢
The video doesn't recap All Godzilla movies. Just an evolution.
Maybe a lot of those films were repetitive & forgettable. This is supposed to be about the evolution of Godzilla. If a film didn't reveal some new development in character, abilities, or other changes then it's not necessary to include it here.

If it's just a series of films about a subject, then king king predates it by nearly 20 years, and there's a ton of others). But franchise as a whole? Oh hell nah. Marvel and DC both originated in the late 1930's, the wizard of oz is over a 100 years old and still revives a ton of official sequels to this day, as well as plenty of movies, series and stage plays. Did you forget Sherlock holmes, which is nearly 140 years old and still flourishing to this day? Or heck you could go far behind that. The epic of gilgamesh can be considered a freaking franchise, that would make it the longest ever franchise of over 4,000 years of work.

I understand that you sort of skipped a few movies to give it all over you that's not a problem at all. One error, the only two Godzilla films to ever finish at the top of the Japanese box office were Godzilla versus destroyer in 1995 and Godzilla versus mothra, from 1992, not the 1964 version. To this day they are the only two Godzilla films ever to finish number one at the Japanese box office for domestic films.
