    Our good friends over at Audient have a brand new product! It is called the Evo 8! It is a 4 input/4output USB interface that costs about $200 and it has the auto-gain function! This is the first one in the country, and they sent it to us! I’m very excited about this product!
    Our friend Andy Allen at Audient, really went out of the way on the Evo 8! He’s been telling me about this product for a a long time! We’ve already done a video where we review the Audient Evo 4 ( • Writing and Recording ... ) where we got some amazing results. Their products are selling like hot cakes, because they’re amazing. They’ve got the auto-gain function, which we’re going to use.
    We’re going to record a full band, including a drum kit, electric guitars, acoustic guitar, and vocals! We’re going to prove that it really comes down to your skills as an engineer (or mixing engineer), because the auto-gain function will do so much work for you!
    Our friends over at Audient have been gracious enough to give us 3 of the Evo 8 units to give away! You can enter to win above!
    You can also download the multitracks from this session so you can follow along with me as I mix this track!

    • @mageprometheus
      @mageprometheus Před 3 lety +5

      Hi Warren. The 8 would be overkill as there is only me, a mic, midi keyboard and bass. I followed yours and Adam's advice on the EVO 4 and I am delighted.

      @Elsteveador2 Před 3 lety

      Yeah, in fact. I'm considering replacing my current QU16 with something a little more interfacy (in light of there just being no gigs anymore) and i rarely use ALL 16 inputs, but then i'm sure i'll need it again in the future, so i'm stuck in two minds... however, this seems like it could be a very viable option, so discreet and sounds great even through the medium of youtube... giveaway entered, fingers crossed.... keep rockin Warren! Grateful as ever for your efforts.

    My, the years just go by! I've had an EVO 8 for a year now. I use to record home audio, mainly my (and friends' vocals) with backing tracks. It is a great USB interface but just one thing: the MICROPHONE VOLUME is pretty piss poor using dynamic mics but quite satisfactory with CONDENSER microphones. It is so good that it has 48V phantom power. My laptop has USB-C so I could possible power 4 condenser microphones but it is extremely I'll ever do so. What fascinates me, is that when I turn REVERB on in the DAW, which I use Cakewalk, the volume and richness of the voice goes up double! Wow, what a difference!

    Got my evo 8 a month and a half ago, and I love it! It unfortunately died randomly yesterday, but I'm hoping I can get a replacement quickly.

    Sounds wonderful!......low budget interfaces have entered a new level of quality. More than just acceptable Pro-sumer quality, real LEGIT quality! ;:-)
    BLAIR!, great guy, solid player!
    I'm curious about the auto level function. Roughly what level does it give you after analyzing each signal. -5, -10 ??. I've always been dubious about auto level features, but that thing seems pretty sophisticated. It works so fast and with no fuss.
    I was most impressed with the kick and acoust gtr raw sound....really rich and full. $200 is a great QPR ;:-)

    Whoa!!! I love your cover!! I saw Petey live a few years ago. Love that Evo too. I wish they made one with 32 inputs, lol. Btw, was that a Mojave mic?

    I could seriously use that autogain function to save a ton of time. With the kids, and my wife working from home, tim is in short supply for me. Yet another thing I'll have to save up for. Adding it to my priorities list.

    I have an EMU 1616m and it never ceases to amaze me how powerful this audio interface is. It is from the year 2006, a little old but believe me that all the companies copied something from it. It has three pairs of inputs and outputs, 3 outputs plus mini jack and even input for turntable, adat, spdif, midi, a mixer (software) with enormous routing possibilities, dsp effects, built-in soft limit function. The converter is that of the Avid Digidesign 192 hhd, it has 120Db of dynamic tango and a THD of -110 at the input and -105 at the output. It also records up to 192kz and 24 bit. Hopefully someone does a review comparing it with newer interfaces to see its performance. Too bad they weren't made anymore.

    Hi Warren! I really like your channel! Thank you so much for these videos! The Evo 8 sounds great, but I am torn between several thoughts: is it worth going for a 4-preamped-input device with lower quality (like Evo 8) to allow recording an acoustic-guitar in stereo PLUS using the DI at the same time? the UA-video on how to mic an acoustic-guitar proposes this approach. Or is it better to go for a device with two high-quality preamps, super-low latency and great plugins such as the Apollo Solo and only go for stereo mics? Or does mixing a mono-mic-recording with an additional DI-track work as well? Or do you propose recording in stereo and then dub a second take using the DI? I would also record vocals and electric guitar, of course. Thanks! Christoph

      The EVO is not any lower quality than any other interface I've used. Also, the pre amps are fantastic! This recording sounded as good as any I've made with units costing many times more!

    Nice playing and singing thanks 😊
    CAn I have the reverb/chorus and other effects like with DSP, hence not recorded but heard while recording? I heard about a thing called native low latency recording or so.. an alternative to DSP I guess. I am deciding between EVO 8 and Steinberg UR44 but the Evo is half the price and the Steinberg I would pick mostly for the DSP. So can I get the same with the EVO but just not DSP?

    I'm currently using a Audient ID22, love the quality but finding the 2 channels limiting. If the mic pres are as good as the ID then its a no brainer unless I want to go buy an ASP800 :-/

    I bought the EVO 4 because I wanted a super small but good quality interface for playing my guitar through my MacBook while sitting at the kitchen table. I find the Autogain struggles a bit with high output pickups (Sure SSH+ and EMG 81) but I found a hack! If your guitar has single coils, use the auto gain on that, then you might be good to go with hum buckers, or maybe just knock the input back a notch or two
