I love that T-shirt!
where can i get it?
Link in description!
I don't get it ... I cardiode polar pattern voice over? (I'm kiding ... I get it).
@@BoothJunkie love the videos. Just was wondering is the rodecaster pro good to use as a interface for V/O?
You all prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know a way to log back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly lost my account password. I love any assistance you can give me.
@Richard Trey instablaster =)
I know this video is from awhile ago but I wanted to let anyone know, who may be on the fence about getting the EVO 8, to do it! It was my best purchase last year and being able to easily swap between custom gain setting and mics is amazing! Especially how often I swap from loud character work like screaming bloody murder to commercial and E-Learning work every day. I don't even have the interface within my booth. I keep it outside and just use the Mixer software for everything. Thanks for the review Mike! It helped me a lot with my decision.
who would down rate this video?.. this is the most thorough and honest video you will find online for this product. You guys do know you are rating the video not the product, right?
As for the Evo 8, I bought this product and love it. I seen reviews that complained that the jacks where loose. I think Audient may of taken note of that and improved on the build quality. When it came to the Evo-8 I own, it feels pretty solid to me and doesn't wiggle like was shown in videos I have seen. Color changing LEDs was a missed opportunity for this device and I am sure they won't make that mistake in a future iteration. I wish there was an option to disable the override to the monitor outputs when connecting a headphone. I wish i could leave all my cables connected and control disconnects through the software only. Otherwise its such a great product at its price point especially when considering the quality of the pre-amps.
If that's your basement it looks like you've really transformed it in a stylish way.
That it is. A constant work in progress!
It’s always nice to see a video from Mike. I'm digging the t-shirt too!
(link in description)
thanks, as always, for the excellent info, mike! man i would listen to you talk about anything.
Big fan of you Brother! Your honesty shows through. Love it
Thanks Mike. All good stuff, all great advice. You have an excellent and oh so smooth voice!!! Thanks for the energy !! Happy Merry!
Thank you SO much Mike. I'm looking forward to getting this ASAP and taking it for a spin!
You are just the best! Love your whole vibe and demeanor!
Good to see you again!
Perfect Review! The Evo 8 is now on my wish list. Thank You MD
Thanks for the honest first 10 seconds! A lot more people need to hear, that most videos are one takes and super easy to do!
Thank you for this review. I think this device will simplify my current set up significantly.
Yesss you are back!
I got one of these right away and am quite happy with it. Love the power and portability.
Once again a masterclass from Mike. Cheers big man!
Studio setup looking great Mike!
it's been forever since i've made it to your channel. I Love your videos and i'll make sure to not stay away for so long anymore ! :p
Very helpful. Thank you, I'm impressed with this review.
Great explanation! Thanks, Mike!
Another great video, thank you! Your computer set up looks awesome, intimidating, but awesome. Would you consider a future video of your control room set up? Thank you for all that you do for the VO community. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi, I've been on the verge of buying this unit. I want to thank you for your video clearly showing what it can do!
Great video👍I have the EVO 4 and I love it. I do VO and produce radio commercials with other VO artists too, and the EVO suits my workflow brilliantly. I originally bought it for Loopback so I could record other VOs over IP in to Pro Tools, but I've ended up using it for recording my VO jobs too. Preamps are clean, low noise, and full.
Great review Mike. Now I have got to compare this to the Motu M4.
this was very helpful in troubleshooting my evo 8
Great video. Very well made!!
Great Video, really informative!
thank you.. very detailed review. more of a course on the device
Great video. Happy Tuesday
I bought one to upgrade from my Focusrite and I really like it. For my voice, it is noticably warmer, and you can't beat the price for a four input device which makes it even more flexible for me. The mixer software also opens up possibilities for other work. Thanks for the review Mike!
Your room/mic sound great!
Can we get a basement tour? Seems like you’ve changed things up a fair bit.
I'll second this request. Looks clean. I'd love to see what's goin on, especially at the editing station.
Just the best VO educator on the web, and I am staying a loyal subscriber, even if it does look like you dyed your hair red.
what a steal. i'm in for one through your link. thanks mike
OMG! OMG! OMG! A NEW PROPER BOOTH JUNKIE VIDEO!!!!
*plays "Celebration"*
you're welcome, and thank you so much !
The sounds so crystal clear I'll never forget a sweetwater employee recommended me this and mackie fvxv3 por podcasting and in mics RE20 amd Shure SM7B
Hey Mike. How handy that you can now demonstrate the cardioid pattern using your tee shirt.❤️🎤
Great informative video! My only comment wud be, and this is common across the board, is that I think reviews on these types of products need to touch on iPad function and compatibility. The amount of iPad creators continues to increase and it wud be great to see info being passed for this platform. Thanks and cheers!
Thanks for the preview of the evo-8 . hope the scratch on your arm gets better. Bet there is a story there. :)
Content providers take note: This is a proper review !
I've had the EVO 4 on my radar since Optimum Tech did a video about it. They make some amazing stuff for the price.
I agree that the 8 is worth purchasing for a few extra bucks. I love my 4 - I use it as a more portable option to my iD22. But man, wish I would've picked up the 8 for the reasons you listed. Great video!
Hey, Mike...great to see you back more often...consider reviewing the SSL 2+ that came out in January...its got a great heritage,...I bought it and really like it, for the price...would love to hear you thoughts...
the evo 4 is a good interface if you want a clear neutral sound for condensers (if you dont mind the mechanics of it) if you want something brighter the motu m2 is decent (if your computer likes it) and if you're using a dynamic and or a condenser the ssl 2 is ideal for its ein
Great video! I learn something new every time I look at these. For example- I didn't know a USB-C connector could produce more power than a USB-A connector (for +48 v phantom power). Until now I always thought it was the other way around. By the way, where did you get those XLR cables with the colored boots?
Thinking about getting this upgrading my scarlet one out put too this one
Great voice. Subbed.
Can you please do a video on VO breathing techniques? Breathing control during recoding is hard. Great videos. Thanks.
There is a M button on the software (Evo Control) that allows you to mute the audio instantly as opposed to holding and pressing. The preamps sound great on the EVO 4.
Wonderful review! Very interesting audio interface. What about the differences between id14 mkii and EVO 8 in terms of converters and preamps quality, as well as the software stability?
The only reason why I would like to have it is that it has four input preamps, but at the same time it doesn't have a DA expansion, that's a pity!
Does the converters's quality could justify the charge of 50 bucks's price for the id14 mkii, considering that the EVO 8 has also 2 more mic preamps?
*he's got that old school-dashing Arnold Schwarzenegger hair cut*
Great video!
I use the GoXLR Mini with a dual PC. Would this be a good replacement or competitor? Would this work well in combo with the GoXLR Mini?
Damn shill 😉. I 100% take what Mike says as fact. I almost bought this but ended up with the PreSonus. I wish I got this tbh. Hope you and your family are safe and well Mike and thanks for being amazing.
Over a year later but just bought one of these.
Was on sale for £89 and it is a great little box of tricks.
Yet another awesome video, Mike. 👍
Quick question: Is there a way to bypass the preamp inputs on the EVO 8 (like the Return Inserts do on the iD22/44)? I have a dbx 286s (are you still using yours?) and it's hard to find an affordable, quiet interface with inputs that bypass the preamps.
been looking for this answer for a while, trying to find a cheaper interface than the id22 to bypass pres on for my DBX and no luck lol
Hey Mike, Is there an iPad app as well? Great vid bro. 💪
From what I can tell, there’s no iPad app at this time. I have ordered my evo 8 but don’t actually have it yet. I work only on my iPad so this is obviously important although I don’t think it’s a deal breaker. The 4 xlr inputs are the key for me (quality and price combo is great). I emailed audient directly to ask about this. Hopefully get an answer soon
Thank You for this review. But i would like a device with all the controls from the Software in real Hardware. Maye i am a bit oldfashioned - Not sure 🤔
Chris
Отличные обзоры микрофонов и аудио/радиооборудования! Greetings from Russia.
Interesting video and product. It is worth mentioning that the max gain is 58 db, which makes it less suitable for your low sensitivity dynamic microphone
Great walk through!
I believe the Focusrite Scarlett interfaces quote 200 ohm as the max headphones it can drive.
Can the EVO8 drive 250 ohm headphones?
Thanks!
I think the device turning to default after power down is a major letdown. My saffire pro 24 from 10 years ago can do that. I'm using the evo8 on a Chromebook and a save state to device would be really handy.
Heyyyy you're using a Lewitt! My man! Love to hear your thoughts on the LCT 940 Authentica in time as well!
Oh man. I hope to get my hands on one! It looks so nice. I love Lewitt mics and have spent my own $$ on them.
Im waiting on your shure mv7 comparison.
Could you do a review/comparison of the AT2020. You did one on the 2035, but I am considering a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 + AT2020 combo.
Good I subscribed to your stuff. The bathroom did it. That was some effect using on of 2 sides Amazing. I'm gonna do a closet this way. My problem is neighbours, they can here me singing and I am load. I practice 2 hours. So I must make it silent outside -not totally there are the normal walls too. Inside that I need treatment. At least for a hyper cardioid mic or a SM57. I have large diaphragm but how will they react. I had your TLM103 before an that bastard is unforgiving. Maybe I should make a video? Then I need tempo and "action this day".
Hello. Thank you for this review. It is still amazing three years later. Weird question. It seems like the big knob pops on and off easily. Is this the case, or do I have a defective unit? Thank you.
I'd say the buttons on the evo are a bit confusing and annoying, but the mixer app lets me ignore it completely; you can control the interface entirely using the mixer software. Really handy
Great Device, Love the Design, it's possible to connect my Logitech Z5500 to this Audio Interface? Actually I have focusrite Saffire 24 DSP and I connect in COAXIAL "SPDIF".
Problem solved 😇
Don't get confused with the faders, So Evo Mixer has output 1+2 (Master mix) down the fader of Mac 3+4 and Output 3+4(Artist mix) down the fader of Mac 1+2 then we'll have separate instrument out using EVO.
Thank God 🙏🎶
I do small voiceover works on the side, once a month or so. I use only 1 condenser microphone. So EVO 8 is overkill for me. But i still enjoy learning about it. I plan to buy ID4 or ID 14, maybe SSL2. i'm not quite sure so far.
Hey Junkie, any chance you could review the Slate VMS ?
Hi Mike, I am using an external mic for my Microsoft teams meetings at work - Samson q2u with a behringer U-phoria UMC22 and a FetHead. I understand that Teams suppresses the sound quality somewhat but wondered if the EVO 4 would improve my sound? Also thinking of upgrading my mic - possibly the Samson q9u - do you have any recommendations at the sub 250 dollar price point? Thanks.
Can you talk about those 2 blue lights on the back
I saw something about this device making it easier to use a mic like the Shure SM7B. You've talked about the Cloudlifter(?) with such a mic in the past. Apparently, you don't need one of these with the EVO 8. Have you dug into this yet? Some advice from you on this would be helpful.
Um Brazilian, what VO means?
Amazing t shirt by the way
VO = Voice-Over
And yes, that t-shirt is superb
Good Morning Mike. I am setting up an 8x7' booth with VO console inside and an engineer console outside for music recording. Do you have a schematic or a photo of how you have connected 2 different consoles to the EVO?
hi mike can I use 4 active monitors at the same time or is it just 1 pair at once thanks stu from uk
I'd just like to know about running 2 synths into the inputs. I won't be using mics. I guess I'd hook one synth to inputs 1 and 2 and the other synth into 3 and 4?
How do the preamps compare to your Audient ID22?
Waiting for an EVO 32..,.
Are the mic and headphone preamps on the EVO the same as on the audient ID14 MKII ? Or are they as good ? And how does the DAC compare between those devices ?
If you had an artist that wanted to hear themselves with some effect verb/delay or whatever is there a way to accomplish this?
Is there a reason one would want to get a small interface like the EVO8, rather than using an actual mixer? I just got an A&H ZEDi 10FX, because I can use it for when I host karaoke or run sound for small bands, but it also works as an interface for recording. I did see a couple features that I would like; such as mute buttons and the software that saves your settings, but is there anything else that an interface would provide that my mixer won't?
By the way, sorry for my ignorance. My experience is in live productions, which I haven't been able to do this year because of Covid. I figure it's a good time to start working toward my lifelong goal of doing voiceovers.
Will this Evo 4 provide me with a mono output. I ask that because I currently had a Focusrite Solo 3rd Gen and when I go live on FB or just record in Quicktime the sound only comes out the left side. I understand that this happens due to the Focusrite Solo considers input 1 (XLR) to be the left channel and the other input (1/4 inch) to be the right channel. Now this would be an easy fix in post with any DAW because I can process the final output in Mono however because I go live and I dont have the option to fix in post. Therefor every time I go live I get stuck with the audio only coming out of the left side as I only have the mic in input 1 (XLR). So my question is would the Evo 4 input 1 (XLR) only record to the left side/channel during recoding or going live or will it record to both the left and right sides?
I like your haircut
What do you think of the Solid State Logic SSL2+? That's the one I ended up going with.
I was also thinking about the ssl2+ and almost bought it this week. Now I saw this review and I'm confused haha.
( I do mostly reading texts and Livestreams with guests)
Do you already made a decision?
Two sets of headphone outs are a must for me since moving from a Scarlett 2i2 to an SSL2+. The extra headphone out was the deciding factor for me in getting the 2+ instead of the 2!
Your shirt is amazing.
So... What's that mic hanging in your booth? The XLR is a bit offset from the middle... Is that an Aston?
HI YOU CAN REVIEW OF SHURE MV7 --PLEASE...
Im very skeptical that an aio like this is a better idea than a series of seperate devices that each do their own job well. So having an audio interface like the id4 going to a pc and a mixer and then having the mixer run to headphones and your monitors. Its less simple but it means you can tailor it to your exact setting
Just a question. I listened carefully but I am not sure.
I would use Evo8 as audio interface to play live keyboards with VSTs.
Perfect way should be driving both outputs at the same time: one for theater mixer and one for my personal monitors on stage.
If I could drive both outputs independently that would be great.
Same mix (my stereo output from my vst host) but two output levels.
It seems possible and with a fast level change on both outputs, just with buttons and potentiometer. Am I right?
Can this handle line level inputs? Example - main line level analog mixer output
Would be nice to upgrade my aging UMC202HD. Can this drive my 250ohm headphones (DT990 PRO) though?
evo 8 or scalet 2i2 or motu m2 which is better ?
*OK, so what about laptops with the YELLOW USB that is designed to power devices and send data?*
I have the EVO 8 - using it with a single windows laptop and Pre Sonus software. Today I picked up a Mac Mini to use solely for video editing. Any good ideas how I can marry the two systems together with the EVO? I’m not sure how to use the EVO with both Mac and PC since it only has a single USB-C input.
hi, can you compare evo 8 with zoom f6?
Great stuff for minimalists or people who travel a lot but need more inputs or people with smaller desks.
Not for me tho 😅
