This man talks too much. Jeez. The information in the video is good, but it would perfectly fit in a 7 minute video.

Today I scored Blue Bluebird SL in the box for $70 (missing shock mount). Inside the box were two sm58s in excellent condition. I thought they had to be fake. But after watching about 10 videos and looking on 4 websites, I found out they are real. 3 great mics for $70. Best mic deal of my life.

This Shure mic absolutely is worthy of being compared and used with $3k+ Neumann mics. IMO, it outclasses lower cost Neumann’s like the 103. Sounds far more refined and natural while still delivering the musical beauty of various instruments and voice.

I don’t get the fuss? You can easily compress fibrous material. Most manufacturers actually give the absorption coefficient of the material they’re selling. It’s a lot more to do with how the sound enters and exits the acoustic changes. We love adding unnecessary information that really just doesn’t give the end user any more confidence that they can achieve a reliable sounding result? The science is not that complicated? Really? Anyone with a pocket calculator can work out these measurements, maybe let’s focus more on informing the end user of how to do the calculations and thus enable them to understand what their objective is and then figure out what fits what they can afford ? The thing is with room treatment is that you don’t have to do it in one go, you can make incremental changes and improvements in an affordable and diy fashion.

I've done professional recordings in a studio before, but figuring out how to record at home is aggravating because I’m clueless about how to do proper sound treatment or know when or if there is a reverb problem. The difference here is amazingly clear! Thanks so much!!!!

Awesome review! I have a question and after watching this, I feel you're the one to ask. I'm recording gameplay. I'm set up roughly in the middle of my half-finished basement. I sit about one to two feet from my mic (a Shure MV7) My house was built in the 50s. There is no insulation between the 1st floor floor and my ceiling. Outside noise easily comes in from the basement windows. My elderly parents, sister, brother in law, and 2 y/o nephew live with me, and none have an 'indoor voice'. I once picked up a conversation in my kitchen. Literally upstairs and about 15 feet from my door. Directly above my mic set up is the main hallway connecting the living room, kitchen, and bathroom everyone uses. I do not have the means at this time to rennovate my room and turn it into my personal studio. Are there any recommendations you have for mics, noise suppression, or set up? Or should I just give up?

Unfortunately, the cameras you have don't utilize the full power of that microphone. The advantage of these Sony microphones is that you can record voice digitally using Sony's proprietary multimedia shoe, but neither the A6400 nor the ZV-1 support this - they both record analog only.

I AGREE! I have spent endless hours working on projects that were not marketed properly, or at all, and my work went unpaid. It is painful! Also, the number of fraudulent contracts I have received on ACX that were not detected until after the work was complete have been BRUTAL for me. The idea of Royalty Share is a good concept but not in this context, on this platform, the way it exists now.

Instead of using it in the worst possible case, why not test it in a somewhat controlled environment like a closet to see if it enhances anything? The test is kind of like putting a dead cat on a shotgun mic and then pointing a high speed fan directly at it saying it doesn’t work good because you can still hear the wind.

So what you’re saying is to put foam on your ceiling and point the mic straight down while you’re laying in bed to remove reflections behind and in front of the mic

Cool to see your booth. I'm using the Elgato Prompter for Zoom and the film & TV production private coaching I do. Have you ever tried the prompter for your client VO scripts or is it just easier to have it on a screen or printed? I have not tried that yet.

If you genuinely can't tell the difference between these two microphones, you have no business reviewing microphones. I'm suspicious.

Old video, I know, but still really useful! Surprised how close these two actually sound. Noticed a lot of smaller details more accentuated on the 416, which makes sense, but the TLM103 still picked those details up, especially as you got closer to the mic. The 103 has a bit more low end though, and I think for me, I prefer the 103 (also biased, cause I use one lol) but honestly, I could go either way. I do eventually want to get the 416, but am so happy with my neumann right now.

Hiss is not a bad thing. I don't own a 2020 but what I know in general is the fact that getting rid of the hiss compromises the overal sensitivity and detail so I think this does not have to be a bad thing It just has to fit your needs. I can imagine you can do without the his in a podcast and a song can be recorded fine with the hiss. I remember my SM-9 Focal beryllium tweeter hissing and I thought this was an issue (although Focal assured me it was not). This almost always has to do with the quality of the item no hiss does not mean better . In fact getting rid of it is quite simple but does not make the mic (or speaker) better.

How do you never pop your p's while talking into these things in any of videos without pop filters? I still have a ton of pops with 2 filters.

In reference to their sound quality and audio specifications, the Road Headphone is not as good as the Audio-Technica M 50x Headphones.

This was very helpful. Thank you. I think I'm going to buy this mic. I really love the sound of it. It sounds very natural and "unhyped." I'm looking to use it for singing. I have a very sibilant voice, so I don't need a mic with added presence.

Windscreens are not pop filters, and are not designed to stop plosives. They do two different things.

I have 3! I use them as Tom mics and a mono over head on drums They have a very natural sound , it almost sounds boring in a good way. I often find myself preferring this mic over a lot of others
