Finally, a proper review of an audio interface where the software is explained and demonstrated. Excellent. I’m getting an Evo 8!
Thanks for a great review! The bit about the A/B listening option at the end was the input (😃) I’ve been searching for over the last couple of months! Now it’s a done deal! Awesome!
Thank you for the gain on the microphone! It was nice to hear the button clicks! You're a legend!
Just purchased this interface last week and I love. Great review and your section on the evo mixer answered some questions I had!
Cheers!
Happy to help. And you will love it more. Enjoy it 💯
POV: You were actually searching for Lancer Evo 8 videos but ended up here
I was searching for this and ended up with lancer evo 8 videos xD
Thankyou so much!! I've been looking for a new audio interface and I was legit so close to getting a Scarlett solo until I saw this. Gonna order asap, love from Australia
Just order mines yesterday coming threw the mail tomorrow 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Your review of the mixer software was fantastic. I bought my evo 8 yesterday 👍
Your review was awesome. Im def. sold on getting one now!
Bro great vid, but you’ve gotta do both Mood Swings and Lemonade.
For podcasters works! Thanks a lot for your great help! Bless... you can make a couple more about it... you don't know how many people doesn't make the best of this interface.
My EVO 8 is my first ever foray into the world of USB interfaces. Got one a few days ago, had pitifully low mic volume, so Sweetwater sent me a replacement which is far better. Anyhow, I plugged in a microphone (an old AKG C1000S, and turned Phantom power on of course) and listened to my own voice via headphones. Meh, I thought, I'd never get to sell any records! (I don't need to, I'm retired!) :) But then, with Cakewalk running, and the proper ins and outs set, I turned the "Echo" on for the audio track. And then put in a reverb plugin, Sonitus for Cakewalk, into the track. Wow, what a huge difference! I almost fell off my chair! Seemed like the volume went up double or more! The sensitivity of the mic shot up and I could even hear the creaking of the chair I was sitting on! Unbelievable! It is a fascinating mystery, this audio technology. I didn't even turn the Loopback feature on; in fact I have to figure that out from an Audient video. As I said above, without the "echo on" and the reverb features, don't expect to sell any records, haha! On the DAW you use may have its own tricks. As for me, Cakewalk is like, um, a piece of cake! Last June I got a Mackie USB mixer, the ProFX6V3. It is superb, but the reverb settings are nothing to brag about; aside from that, it is excellent, esp. the Mic preamps. The USB is 2 out, 2 in; whereas the EVO 8 is 4 out, 4 in. The Allen and Heath ZEDi 10-FX mixer ($280) also has 4 out, 4 in USB. Oh, and Macke has just released a brand new Onyx8 mixer, $500, with 4 out, 4 in. The trouble with these USB interfaces, is that they are dead in the water without a computer! So for everyday vocal practice I plan to just use the Mackie mixer and only use the EVO 8 to record a song.
SO WHY are 4 USB tracks so much better than 2? Ah, it is because audio inputs like from cell phones and tablets, even CD players, are all stereo so they need 2 USB tracks. It is so nice that you can press down inputs 3 and 4 (or 1 and 2) on the EVO 8 and create a stereo input track. Plus vocal, that makes 3. So a 2 out, 2 in USB does not cut it.
i love the videos!!! Keep it up
Great review and love your remakes. Have you tested this in layest mac OS big sur and does it work? All the best
hey im thinking about buying this, thanks for the help!
Great comprehensive video! I work on an iPad Pro, so it looks like I wudnt be able to use the software, but I don’t see anything else at this price with 4 xlr inputs with this quality. Is there a better option?
awesome video!, i was looking to update my studio interface, i love the fact that it has independent headphone outputs, would this one compete against an apogee quartet in terms of audio quality?
great review thank you in the bag
seems cool. wondering about the plastic build. Also, how do the pres compare to the other audient ones (I think it's the iD4) that I hear good things about?
Very solid review. I’m considering getting this. But would these be able to sufficiently drive 250 ohm headphones?
Nice review! How much do you miss dedicated physical knobs, and visual level checking?
Comparing to the Motu M4, the lack of dedicated gain/level/mix knobs and levels display seems to be a main downside of the Evo 8. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the video! Very helpful description of the software. Do you know of any way in which to create a headphone mix when using an iPad, without the software?
Damn i just got a focusrite gen 3 2i2 this is way more bang for the buck crazy
This is a really useful video. In terms of questions, I only really want to connect my guitar to my Mac - I play for fun at home but like to record some of the songs I write every so often. I was looking at an Apogee Jam+, but is this a better option? Thanks
Amazing
1:45 you mean your mono 1-and-2, mono 3-and-4. They are not all stereo. Basically 1-and-2 are one pair of left and right speakers and 3-and-4 likewise.
What is your camera and lens setup? Looks super professional. 🔥
The price point for me doe definitely look into this upgrade my interface soon 🔜
CAn these record 4 mics at the same time , being assigned to individual tracks on your daw ? like if i want to record a drum rigged with 4 mics, and get at the end of one single recording of a song 4 tracks with different mics. ?
I still use my rode Al 1. Do you think it’s much better if I buy that interface ?
Great job on this video tho 😄🙏🏻🔥🔥🔥👽
Is there a workaround for using this with an older iPad Pro that doesn’t not accept USB-C? Great review BTW!
Solid review! But isn't the input on the front a JFET instrument input, while at the back there are four Mic/line inputs? But other than that, I like this style of review than a lot of youtubers here
Literally about to go and buy a new interface THANK UUUUU
This is a real good one. Gives a lot of features for its price
I realized you used logic and wanted to ask if you knew how to use autotune live so that the artist can hear it as they are singing? Can’t seem to get it to work, nice vid btw might have to cop
Neat! Does it work with M+?
So I did know that when you plug in your headphones on the eco 8 it stops the output to the speakers, but can you turn it back on? And if you wanted play only speakers, only only headphones, or both?
Problem solved 😇
Don't get confused with the faders, So Evo Mixer has output 1+2 (Master mix) down the fader of Mac 3+4 and Output 3+4(Artist mix) down the fader of Mac 1+2 then we'll have separate instrument out using EVO.
Thank God 🙏🎶
will the physical dial knob adjust the headphones and desk monitors separately. example. i’m like you i like to AB with headphones so i prefer to silence the desktop monitors then pop on the headphones etc. currently using the DUET, so this is possible with that interface. but i’m curious if this kinda workflow is doable with this product? thanks man! ps bought duckout 👍
dumb question, if using a separate headphone amp can you connect this to it to where you can control the mic level vs headphone level? kind of like astro mixamp?
Can you smart gain in stereo? (Press the smart gain button then press channels 1 and 2 at the same time.)
I use the EVO 4 on my MacBook Pro- while recording I notice it cuts off and I have to replug the power to the EVO 4. Im thinking the HIb connection to my Mac could be a problem as it heats up. any tips for it not to shut down? I do use a longer power cord from out side the booth to my Mac, I believe its a 8ft cord.
I see at the back 4 combos Line input, can i record guitar and abss there? or only the front inst input?
How do I go about setting up my evo 4. It gets power, and shows that the xlr mic I have plugged into it is working but does not seem to be recognized by my PC or discord. I assume this is because I need another program to control it but I am not 100% sure
It looks so beautiful I'm loving it already
Quick question, a friend told me it's really important to have midi in an audio interface I don't see it here tho
Only if you have outboard gear (keyboards, FX/guitar modelling units) that accept 5 pin midi). It’s less a necessity more a nice extra to have unless you have all that other equipment.
@@NOKnova Okay thanks a lot lot boss
Bought it two days ago. Just plugged it into my computer, installed the driver etc etc but didn't really worked with yet. Just set it. But I've noticed that on your video, below each track displayed on the computer interface there's a gain knob and a 48V icone and those aren't displayed on my computer interface. Any idea?
I got it ! Had to go in the display menu ; )
Great review bro!
I have a question tho, would this evo8 work on iphone or ipad?
Can the zero latency work on above device?
Yes it works on iOS devices. Been using it with my iPad Pro and works perfectly.
So I have my Audient Evo 8 connected to my Mac, but I do not have multiple tracks. How do I access those? All it says is "Evo 8" for both input and output :(.
Can I multitrack record instruments with this into Logic? I am looking for something that will let me track an ASR-10, ASR-X and Yamaha FB-01 in stereo. No microphones for now. Is this the right thing for the job? Ideally I would like to make some kind of template project in Logic where all of aforementioned machines all have their own seperate tracks immediately, hooked up to one interface/mixer so I can record them seperately or all at once if need be. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I bought Logic years ago and only now have time to properly learn it. I usually just make beats inside the ASR's but it's very limiting, but the sound is something I would like to integrate in my Logic workflow.
Do you like it more than your UA interface
Would this have comparable/better preamps than my focusrite 6i6 gen1?
Is there a problem with the impedence of the Evo Headphone output ? i think that you need to have headphones with 150-175 Ohm ?
Hey. I was wondering, I have an audient evo 8, and i have it hooked up via PC with studio monitors connected in "1" with TRS cables in the back, and headphones connected to "1" in the front. I have a mic hooked up to "1" on the left back and a keyboard plugged in the back on the left in "2". I tried recording, and everything was recorded fine. However, while I'm playing the keyboard and even the mic, I can't hear anything back. I even tried unplugging my headphones to see if I can hear them through my studio monitors and nothing comes out. I can't figure this out as I've always used Focusrite. Audient Evo seems a bit harder to figure out. I even tried plugging my headphones into my studio monitors and still nothing comes out. But when I record, it plays back
How does it compare to the SSL 2+? How would you compare the sound and features? Which one comes out on top?
Did you find an answer? I don't know which one to choose..
Can I connect the Evo into a Thunderbolt 3 port on my pc?
12:27 can I hook the Evo 8 to my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 or 24?
So you dont get the software for pc? Does the usb actually power 4 condensor mics!?
has anybody asked if the EVO 8 is recommended over the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 ? Which one would you recommend?
Bro i could definetly use an in depth walkthrough of Focusrite Saffire pro DSP 24
Big question!!!
Does this interface work with Catalina 10.15
I'm watching all your audio interface reviews because you're the best - but I have a question regarding sample rate. I like most things about the EVO 8, but it is only 96KHz, where something like the the Volt are 192KHz. Are those really huge differences when it comes to quality? Or should I not worry about that
It really depends. For me personally and the work I do 96khz is more than enough. 192 is really high and at the end of the day music gets bounced down to 44.1. So it’s completely up to you depending on your workflow.
@@imamusicmogul appreciate your replies man! I didn't know it get bounced down to 44. So 196 more for "purists" to satisfy the potential, but then they have the same bounced 44 too I'm assuming? Very interesting!!
@@dannymolns3573 - in the last 20 years I have NEVER recorded at 192kHz sample rate. Our tracks are delivered at 48k 24 bit, so almost all our projects are recorded at that rate.
Occasionally I’ve worked at 96k, but that’s been to improve the quality of certain softsynths rather than recorded audio.
@@duncanmcneill7088 thank you!
Can you please do a remake of don toliver lemonade ??
Added to the list
My EVO4 interface started malfunctioning but no response after several complaint on Audient site.
i think theres something glitchy in the video near 1:09
where are you from brother ?
So it's basically 2 outputs at the same time, not 4, yeah? 2 monitors; or two headphones; or 1 monitor and 1 headphone.
Pretty sad to see that after upgrading my EVO4 to EVO8, the interface is not compatible with iPad IOS. How is that possible! The interface is recognized, the inputs (well, 6 inputs, mmmm) , the outputs, all looks fine but then the physical outputs are either duplicated or do not output anything at all. Doublechecked and after testing everything on a PC and going thru forums, this unit is not compatible with iPad PRO iOS, wtf! This smart gain invention and the simple basic physical output routing do not work in 2021.... Audient got an F guys!
You can use live autotune with this interface? I mean sing something in and hear it as an artist live with autotune on the same time :)
Will do that test for you. I never really record with auto tune live. But the mixer I believe routes the dry signal from the input. But will let you know
Audient must have included an Adat to be able to expand it into more channels, so sad for that.
tbh the idea that the performer must perform at the same level when setting the input level is not unique to this device; this would be necessary when setting the levels yourself or using the auto gain feature
Can i use usb c and instrad of usb A
I will use usb 3.0 thank you in advance
Yes you can - this will work!
Okay, so when recording on a 2014 iMac I still have phantom power on all 4 inputs?
And us the front line input also hi-z ?
So it actually has 5 hi-z inputs?
Thanks for reply, great video!
Adam, what is that light & stand behind you on top of your monitor?
Yes it’s a joby gorilla pod 3k with a neewer led light panel
Hi! Evo 8 or id14?🙏🏽
I'd go with new iD14 if the budget allows - better build quality and preamps and more expandability.
@@imamusicmogul thnx
Are you using a MacBook?
Do You hear evil like me ?
Only thing you didn’t mention is that it’s a paid promotion
