      I was 25 when Freddie died. It was a shock that he’d died from AIDS like so many other celebrities did back then. It was sad to hear ‘bout him goin’ like that and even more shocking to see how frail he’d became before dying. I was a Queen fan back then as I was one of those MTV kids growing up watching videos and enjoying their’s amongst others. His death I took pretty badly BUT I thought my heart was being ripped-out when Princess Diana died...her death affected everybody worldwide cos she was such a campaign for the ppl (The Pp’s Princess)...may they both RIP.

Although, he may not be with us, his likeness continues, with his nephew, Sam Cooke. If Freddie was alive, today, in 2019, he would be 73, on 5th September. Elissa Schornstein, as a lifelong Queen fan, had it occoured to you that, Brian May, and Roger Taylor wanted to keep Freddie Mercury's music alive, long after he died ?. Brian, Roger, and John made an album, shortly after Freddie's tragic, premature death, which was called Made In Heaven. It features a song called Mother Love, Freddie told them, he would have a rest, and finish it later, he didn't finish it. He sadly died just as he was in the process of the writing the last few bits, so the surviving members of Queen finished it off for him, and also, they remastered Freddie's voice digitally, and in 1997, John Deacon had retired, in my humble opinion.

      Freddie hasn't left Brian's heart. He respected him, and his family, when the Bulsara home, in Feltham received a Blue Plaque. Also, Brian May sang different verses of No-One But You, along with Roger Taylor, and John Deacon played bass. John Deacon retired in 1997, as he couldn't perform without Freddie Mercury, as his death affected John Deacon the most. Queen still tour today, only with Adam Lambert, Brian May, and Roger Taylor. Bomi is seen here. The father of Fred. Bomanshaw Rustomji Bulsara was born in the town of Valsad, then called Bulsar, Gujarat, India in 1908. One can guess the origin of the Bulsara surname lies in the name of the city. After the Zanzibarian Revolution and the fall of British Empire in early 60's, the Bulsaras settled down in England. It took them 7 years to get The Certificate of Naturalization from the UK Government. The address in Feltham where Fred lived with his parents is 22 Gladstone Avenue. In his final years Bomi was admitted to a retirement home in Basford, Derbyshire.
    It is very little known about Bomi's life. Let's hope we can find more.

    I actually saw the movie, and it's stunning how some of the scenes in, "Bohemian Rhapsody" compares to Freddie Mercury in real life, after watching this video, and after seeing the movie, and it's surprising how real the movie is portrayed to the band of Queen themselves, and it is surprising how this video compares to certain scenes in the movie!

    Freddie was no doubt a amazing singer and front man. But saying Queen is not Queen without him is wrong. He had a world class guitarist backing him up, he played most string. Instruments plus piano and write several 1 hits. A great singing voice who could have sung lead with any other band. A drummer who was the one of the best, songwriter, and could also play many other instruments. Deacon could play a great bass and also write 1 songs. Freddie released a album that went no where. He said himself that the three backing him up was the reason.

      Wendy Combe, Brian may have wanted to give a new generation of Queen fans the chance of a lifetime, by hearing Queen's music, without Freddie, and John. I know that, the older, and mature fans had grown up with Freddie, and John, but at least, after Freddie's tragic, premature death, and John retired, Brian, and Roger carried the legacy, and legend of Queen on.

      And we are grateful for it. I mean, I think at the moment when he did that interview was yet too soon (5 years are nothing), the pain was talking. And now, with the years, he has another perspective, about the legacy and how play their music brings Freddie back to us. I mean, I grew up with Queen music but I really didn't know. I knew Adam before Freddie (the persone, not just the name) because I saw that Season of American Idol with him in it, and now, for the decision of make the movie Bohemian Rapsody I'm here, totally in love with Freddie, discovering and rediscovering Queen music, so I'm so happy he changed his mind.

      @Motown-1966 Před 5 lety +2

      Wendy Combe...I get what you’re saying and am adding that it seems artificial to insert Adam Lambert as their frontman for two reasons: 1) He’s American 2) He hasn’t earn the right to wear a crown while performing. I mean...even Freddie didn’t do that. He’d donned the crown at the END of the show (or at the beginning like he did in Budapest). It just doesn’t feel right somehow. At least with Paul Rodgers, they were all on even ground but Adam is still earning his “rock-star” status. I heard one of the many reactioners say that Adam is just the hired help and will NEVER become a Queen band member. This seems like it and I guess they’ll continue to tour ‘til either Bri or Roger drops dead also.
