  • Located in the southwestern county of Dorset is the town of Bournemouth.
It was founded in 1810 by Lewis Tregonwell, a captain in the Dorset Yeomanry, who served during the Napoleonic Wars. Bournemouth was initially marketed as a spa town before growing into the beach resort it is today.
Bournemouth Pier initially consisted of a short wooden jetty, first completed in 1856. After going through many extensions over the years, it was tactically demolished by British soldiers as a precaution against German invasion. In 1946 it was repaired and reopened. Today the town attracts around seven million visitors per year.
The walk starts from Bournemouth Pier before proceeding inland through the various streets including Old Christchurch Road in its entirety, passing by several Victorian buildings along the way.

Bournemouth town took its name from the bourne stream that runs through the gardens.

Ah nice! It's kind of a running theme, naming towns after rivers and waterways, it seems.

I'm glad that the beach is dead , seeing as you are supposed to be in lockdown . I used to go to Bournemouth with my family for holidays . Bournemouth should be able to come back to life when pandemic is over . I hope people support it as a holiday town this Summer .
