You get points in temple trekking based off the difficulty, route you took, and what specific events you completed. The more events and harder difficulty the greater the rewards. You are going to get minimum rewards if you skipped all events on the easy path.
You're only getting minimal rewards because you are choosing the exact item, if you do the random option you will get more of whatever random item you get.
For abby specs, i don't think its that they have high defense. They have high hp regeneration rates, so the switching back and forth between them while alching might have been lowering your slayer exp by a lot.
so the way temple trekking works is if you use a easy follower and take hard medium/hard paths you'll get 150-200 bow strings, but if you use an easy follower and do easy paths you get the minimum
The tickets rewards are based off the actual effort you put into the run you give, so doing the incredibly quick method of skipping and etc. those tickets are minimum. Still the best rewards/hr though

Why block dust devils? In the Kourend dungeon they have nice drops, are a few seconds away from a bank, and the superior version pops up fairly often.
