Marchand is like a cartoon villain, he's someone we love to hate and I think he plays into that.
The guy totally understands his role as a heel and he plays it up great. It's just hilarious that by all accounts he's actually a super nice dude in person (and off ice)
He's just an idiot. I don't think he has any real control over his stupid actions. He's like the schoolyard bully.....except he needs to turtle when someone stronger comes along...lol.

Interesting tidbit from a Ferris State vs Bowling Green game tonight-- two penalties called simultaneously. Two completely different events drew a whistle at the exact same time, and refs called two penalties at the exact same time for two separate infractions. Only time I've ever seen it.

I'm not a bruins fan but, I believe the leafs won't make it to the second round again no matter who they play. So I think it is unlikely they play Boston in the playoffs at all unless they tank to the fourth spot in the division, because there is no way they are getting first either.

Personally, I and my family have always hated the Bruins... but I think Marchand is that player you just love to hate. He fits it quite well, and overall I don't mind him too much. I think Erik Johnson is another guy who has a very electric personality, not in the same way Marchand does, but he's definitely a riot. He's always responding to his teammates' posts with odd, out of context comments and it's pretty un to watch. I love how the NHL is so heavy on the privacy thing, and yet we still get to see so much of the personality in the game and with the players, it's pretty ironic if you really think about it.

Need more characters like Marchand. NHL ratings are in the toilet right now. You see a lot of these characters in the NBA and NFL, which makes for great entertainment. So many boring players are hard to market as it is, and the NHL does a horrible job marketing them. It's crazy that a majority of sports fans in the US don't even know who McDavid is.

You must be young. I watched them win the Stanley Cup in Black and white. And have enjoyed them losing pretty much ever since. Saw my Red Wings break their curse (in high def) repeatedly. The Maple Leafs have loyal fans (God knows why) but they deserve some reward. Maybe start with a playoff series win, but it won't be against Boston, not this year.

I'm a Leafs fan. Pretty sure it's safe to say if we face Bruins in playoffs we are for sure busting. That is if we get past Tampa first. For those who doubt this let's talk in May. I love this team -- but it is what it is. When I look at Boston and Tampa those teams are mean and talented. Toronto is just talented. Mean teams who wear you down go far in the playoffs.
A Boston/Toronto series would be fun for everyone but Leafs players and fans. They’d all go into it knowing they’re going to lose.
Marchand backs up his talk with his excellent play over of the long term - which just makes it hard for us Leaf fans. I doubt Bruins would trade Marchand for both Nylander and Marner. Like him or not - he is a winner. Former Oiler, Essa Tikkanen was hard to play against like him.

I’m the farthest thing from a Marchand fan, but good on him for calling out the media. Some reporters do nothing but stir controversy and speculate yet get all up in arms when someone who actually plays the game speaks up. The irony is even in his response Marchand knew there was no point in explaining himself. Just by reacting at all he grabbed more headlines then any sort of actual journalism itself would have created.

There's a part of me, as a B's fan, that misses the era of him being sneakily one of the dirtiest players in the league.
But I much prefer the scoring touch and connection with Bergeron he has now to the face licking, overall. He'll always have the edge, and be a super annoying player (both to play against and on social media), but if you put the puck in the net to back it up, he'll be everyone's favorite Bruin and no one will ever admit it as long as Bergeron wears the C.

I wished so much that the Leafs would shut him up tonight, but nope. I'm still worried for this team in the playoffs. I really am. I don't really care about the Leaf's record if they are 1-2 against teams like the Bruins. Beating a bunch of mediocre teams doesn't matter. At the end of the day, you need to be built and have the psychology to beat Tampa and Boston. Everyone else doesn't matter. The only way it matters is if they intentionally tank into the exact wild card spot where they play Carolina. Good luck with that.

I'm a biased bruins fan but Brad Marchand is the man. There isn't 1 fan out there that wouldn't want a Marchand on their team. The guy puts up insane numbers and his antics are rarely ever in occasions that cost the team, which means he knows exactly what he's doing. Nothing better than watching a crybaby leafs fan in agony.
