@@UCKY5 they had an entire team of talented artists. These Artists allso released a lot of popular mods for fallout 4, the issue is the self proclaimed game designer who had no idea how to handle such a project and gave himself and his girlfriend who was allso "working" on the game redicolous saleries. (We dont actually know what his girlfriend did exactly or how much she got payed)
Yeah they basically gave themselves a relaxing job for all those years with good pay, while underpaying devs and mismanaging everything, they cant do anything themselves. The only half decent stuff you see is from fired devs and that's probably in a broken state as well since these frauds wouldn't know how to fix anything that got broken after Unreal Engine upgrades.
Apparently on the game's Discord, the 'dev' posted he was not proud about the build he released but, after the game was 'patched' he states he is "Very proud of the game he made and this was his 'vision' of what Dead Matter was going to be" 😂😂🤣🤣🤣

This developer is amazing. Nine years ago, he saw the future, saw Mack becoming the victim of "The Great Calming" in the years to come, and knew it was his duty to do something. He put in motion a plan that would not reach fruition for almost a decade, but he did not let that stop him. Truly the hero we don't need or deserve.
This game is lucky anyone is even willing to make fun of it, let alone cover it. Obviously they took the money and ran, then came back to drop just enough to not get sued.
i don't know why people giving money on kickstarter, they must be real rich to throw their money like that

@@Bluepenguin28 I've only dropped £15 once on KS a few years ago, but my reasoning was I really wanted the game to come to fruition, and the guy had a competent tech demo to show. Seemed committed to making it. So far there aren't any red flags that would suggest I've wasted my money. I'm as puzzled as you on why people drop money on empty promises and shit like this though. Cheap words and naïve fools aplenty.

What it looks like has happened is the original dev's stopped work on it and ditched the game because i remember something about them saying they're starting from scratch. It looks to me like someone has either bought the game from them or maybe its one of the original dev's that still has the rights to the IP and has slapped down loads of pre made assets into the game and released it on steam knowing full well that some people won't have been following the progress of the game and simply buy it because they remember seeing it from years ago. These people probably think the game is now finished and are being conned.

1: Back in the 90s, we had this *crazy* concept where people would make good games first, and then get paid for them afterwards. (I know ... crazy, right?)
2: I feel really bad for all the hard-working developers who make good games that go unnoticed, and they struggle to make ends meet.

This game has one thing going for it:
It somehow manages to be a less empty pointless barren hellscape than 95% of the planets in starfield.
This 7.5 minute review is easily more entertaining than 8 hours in that game. And it is for free. I rather watch this video 20 times than considering playing that "game" 20 minutes - but I won't because it would be even too much if I got paid playing it. Thanks Mack! 😂

Ran out of development through poor management and had to shove it out the door would be my guess.
It didn’t develop that was basically the problem and it looked like a scam for a long time in Alpha. They finally hired some more developers in recent years and are at least making some small progress now, I’m amazed it ever reached early access tbh.

This showed some promise early on, then it kind to went quiet for a while and suddenly appeared again. Apparently they changed from Unreal Engine 4 to 5 part way through development but it looks like that was probably a bad idea (changing engine is the best way to massively delay a game, or break it. You essentially have to start over in most respects). Why they didn't keep to UE4 I don't know.
No it didn't, they were lying to us. It was a f*cking mock-up. I was there. It was always a pile of sh*t.
Who cares if they changed engine? This looks like something my 13-year-old could almost make on his own, given a few months.

I just noticed that the player character's head doesn't cast a shadow but the rest of the body (and cap) does. How do you even miss something like that? That's beginner level stuff.
