Anybody actually surprised by this? Ubisoft has been on a downward trajectory longer than I can remember. They have gotten to the bottom of the barrel, drilled through and kept going to the centre of the earth. When you think they can't get any lower, they do, it's not even surprising anymore.
They have settled for bieng mediocre and bland because sadly that's what sells the most these days. Like a friend of mine sayd once: their games feel like work, like it was made from people that just had a job to do, not from people that actually had passion in what they were working
not surprised in the least, in fact this is my deafult expectation from this space. Have reached the point that seeing a good game from AAA will be what surprises me.
Just want to clarify something not seen in the footage that am sure people will pick up on. You don’t see us crawling around the levels slowly taking our time, we did this on every level, I opted to show you footage of fast action instead as you would have fallen asleep. Believe me crawling around these horrible maps doing mundane tasks is enough to make people cry.
The combat footage was already torture tho lol, cant win with footage for this one Play god of war on PC... so refreshing to play a game where you can tell the devs actually CARE and put effort in. Having said that i am sure you will find something you hate about it Mac 🤣 Keep up the jokes content
Sounds like you had a bit of a gambling issue paying full price for every game with a trailer hoping that somehow, it wouldn't be as shit as the last 20 games that developer put out. Mack's a gentleman and a scholar. Curing gambling addictions and reviewing games at the same time. What a chad.

Have such good memories of Rainbow Six Vegas and Vegas 2 back in the day. Co-op on my old 360 with my then housemate. Sad to see what has become of this franchise.
I remember the original "extraction" event that was a halloween even for Rainbow Six: Siege some time ago. While I enjoyed it (it didn't have any of the rubbish play for health malarkey you reference), I recall thinking to myself "if they fleshed this out then it possibly be a half decent DLC" but instead they went full standalone release and it seems as though they utterly failed to deliver. To be honest Ubisoft have well and truly lost the plot when it comes to most of their franchises, especially those bearing the name "Tom Clancy".
@@milchkopf3881 I'm not a fan to be honest. I played it when it first came out for a while and I've dipped in and out since but it's been a long time now since I played it. I've moved onto other shooters which offer better experiences for me.
Rainbow Six: Ravenshield and its expansions were the pinnacle of tactical shooters. Playing online terrorist hunt on the BoB servers with one shot kills.. those were the days!

I think ubisoft and a few other devs have game making AI. They feed it a bunch of textures, character and weapon skins and press make a game. Then watever it churns out, is what they release! Far fetched?? Maybe not!
It's not a game-making AI, just a basic framework that "works" and then gets retextured with whatever they deem will be the most successful at the time. Ubisoft is especially terrible at that. Just using the same game mechanics in basically all of their games...whether it's AC, FC, GR or even bloody racing games ...

I haven’t played this yet but since it’s on gamepass I’ll give it a go this weekend but it doesn’t seem THAT bad. It doesn’t look great but it really doesn’t look terrible. I’m also a fan of siege so maybe that plays into it. You have to remember also that everyone has different taste, so just because Karak liked it a lot doesn’t mean he’s less honest than he used to be but he just likes that type of game maybe. Did you see his review the gunk? I think that was pretty honest.
Ubisoft and EA and Activision Blizzard have been churning out crap games every year for at least the last two decades. And they always sell several million copies every single time. Yet OP is making it sound like they aren't selling, even though they are.
I get Mack's criticism of the character health system, but I remember it wasn't much different in the Original R6 game. You were given a crew of operatives, each with different weapons and roles. One to play as and rest to assign to the AI controlled teammates. If at anytime during a playthrough an operative was killed that operative was gone for the rest of the playthrough. If one was incapacitated he was out for next few missions or so. If you lost too many or all your operatives then the game replaced them with random generated John Doe operatives with no portrait on their character sheet.
Sum of all fears(game) was the same. It's still bad to do that in a online co-op shooter imo. I can accept that in a realistic singleplayer tactical shooter but not in this one.
It's still an awful mechanic. In the OG R6, the characters were basically all the same. I don't remember them having unique abilities. I also think you could customize their loadouts, so weapons werent linked to the operative.

Hey Mack, when are you going for a review of "Ready or Not"? A lot of hype on the game. I think it is very well made for a early access (in developement since ages ago). It should be something that you might like.
First saw the demo to this like 2 years ago and I thought then it looked like a 1/4 of a game. Like someone demoed some stuff to a executive and they just turned around and said...Well that's it done then, good job.
one thing that has me laughing each time is the "A Ubisoft Original" on the logo. its basically an asset flip from R6 Siege with a push on the split second reaction time, constant action and basically no immersion for the environment, just like in Siege which is a PvP game. i will do you a service and tell you to rather play GTFO. it makes R6E look like Fortnite.
I think this is the first time I disagree with you. As a siege player who liked the outbreak event, extraction has been alot of fun. Ill say rn not worth 40 dollars but definitely worth my time. I like how you are punished for losing operators or health and it makes you play other ones. Having to take it slow and try to plan things out, for what i wanted out of a siege pve experience, it mostly delivered.
@@IskenderCaglarM41B441 Long time ago. The early Assassins Creeds, Splinter Cell and other Clancy games and Prince of Persias used to be excellent. Now it’s just the same old uninspired, stale, creatively bankrupt, undercooked garbage. AC has been terrible since Origins. Both Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint are pretty poor. Far Cry has been mediocre since Far Cry three. Watchdogs has been formulaic and average for its entirety. Their battle royale game they released (so irrelevant I can’t even remember what it’s called) was a major flop. The Division 2 is awful. Ubisoft are swimming in a sea of formulaic mediocrity and have been for years.
This game is really good, but what's unique is that it is EXTREMELY unforgiving. Because it is Rainbow, it is also far more realistic than any other shooter. This is one of those games which you either have to play alone, or play it with a calm, coordinated team. You will NOT be able to accomplish anything in it if you just run everywhere and shoot anything that moves. Because those things will shoot back, and when they do, you will lose health which you can NOT gain back. The game uses a very realistic health system wherein if your Operator gets damaged in a mission, they will become unavailable to be used in the next (until they recover) which very much encourages stealth. You have to play this game as if YOU were in an Alien Apocalypse, traversing Alien-infected territories, and making every move of yours count. You have to be slow, calm, sneaky, and very much mindful of your surroundings. One little mistake, one wrong call, one bullet missed, and you may just alert a whole horde of Aliens and your mission is gonna require a different approach. This game is mainly getting negative reviews because people don't want to play it how its designed to be played. This is not COD where you can just spray-and-pray or slide-cancel your way out of every objective. You have to be quiet, patient and an absolute professional if you want to achieve full success. If you are mature enough to understand what I've said, then I would highly recommend you try this game. Play it Solo, take it slow, use smoke grenades to cover your advance, exfil when things get tough or you feel overwhelmed, and try to enjoy the approach this game offers. Overall, the game atmosphere is breath-taking, graphics are out of this world, gameplay is smooth, and the soundtracks and background themes are SO GOOD! Ubisoft has outdone themselves this time, and I really REALLY hope this game gets the recognition that it deserves, because it is truly one of the most unique and realistic shooter to be released in a very long time!
I would agree the boring parts of the game sound egregiously boring, but the health mechanic and the way the game makes you play a more varied cast I think seems interesting.

I had no intention of buying this game, but I was bored last night and said WTF I’ll try it anyway. All I can say is that your review is cracked. This game is surprisingly very fun and addictive. It’s not GOTY material, but I’m definitely getting my money’s worth.
Imagine playing and loving Rainbow Six Vegas in 2006 and being told "If you like this just wait till Rainbow Six Extraction in 2022!! It will be amazing, graphics and gameplay will have evolved so far you won't believe how great it is" And then you get this absolute crap

I'm enjoying for what it is on game pass but that definitely is a ball ache Edit: I do however really enjoy the fact you risk losing your favourite operator and have to go back and rescue them. I really don't see why this is getting so much stick. Surely it's more of a challenge than just levelling up and mowing through levels with ease? 🤷♂️
Yeah it keeps the game interesting. If it wasn't there the game would just be a boring hack and slash shooter. The difficulty and punishing aspects of the game design are there to keep you playing correctly. Most people run and gun in New York, but on higher difficulties you will get killed VERY quickly if you don't play smart.
I don’t really agree with this honestly. First let me say I love Mack. Love his videos. Listen to almost all of his advice but I’ve been playing the game for two days now. Maybe a total of 4 hours. I can see how repetitive would come about but that’s any coop story shooter right? Same objectives, same boss battles in L4D. Then the health issue he is talking about…. We’re forced to use different guns and abilities… so what about halo then? I hate not having a BR for missions and using those dumb new weapons but that’s the game. This IS the game. There are 18 operators, they want you to use them and level them all up. Currently I have two 3s four 2s and one 4. I lost an operator due to my teammates being crap, and I rescued him. It’s a HARD game that requires teamwork. To say it’s trash… I just don’t know. Sure the objectives themselves are boring. But they are DIFFICULT. I’ve had 9 HP and had to rescue two teammates and extract. It’s exhilarating actually. I think I’ve only successfully completed all three parts of ONE mission thanks to great teammates. I see the flaws he mentions and I agree with some of them. I think it is ridiculous you can’t heal in mission…. 100 health and only temporary health pick ups is insane. I give it a 7/10. Price is fair. There’s replay-ability here. They’ve already announced free updates. Excited to see what is to come. I’m not saying Mack is wrong. Just trying to give my perspective
Exactly. The game is not that bad. Games like Back4Blood are far more boring. This one is about tactics and pretty hard. I lost respect for him long ago. By now this channel is only about ranting about games from big publishers.

Never seen any of your videos before, and let me tell you I cried laughing. I saw this game pop up and haven't seen or heard anything about it prior and I've played a lot of rainbow six siege, I knew it would be garbage. When they had the zombies mode in the regular siege game it was hot garbage I don't know why they thought this would be good.

I must agree, in a way i like that mechanic. People won't camp the same character over and over then. It pushes yourself to actually go out of your comfort zone.

I've been watching this one for a while and I was not disappointed! I'm having a blast with Extraction. And even better its FREEEE! Only complaint so far is the occasional revive bug. Seems to me all the hate is only coming from Siege players because it's not Siege 2. And for some reason their salt seems to makes the game even sweeter. Well this is exactly what I've been looking for in a co op shooter and I'm going balls deep in Extraction. Now I just need a decent squad. Getting paired with bad randoms sucks but that's with all games. At least in this game if they fuck up and get themselves killed there's the small yet satisfying consolation that you have the option to just leave them behind.
Should have done it earlier but after IGN gave this 7/10 (Good) im getting Patreon on this channel. Worth A Buy is the most important channel we have right now.

Whats even worse (for all of those who ain’t got that far yet) is that the maelstrom protocol missions reuse the EXACT same spawns for nests, supply crates, objectives and even enemies, quite literally making me do the same thing over and over again.
Is anyone else having issues seeing these videos? Not sure if the channel is being suppressed but, the last 2-to 3 Worth A Buy have not been featured or showing up in the subscribed list had to go into the channel itself to see.
You might not like it but it’s not a disaster at all. It’s perfectly playable and works well. Again, might not be your cup of tea but lots of hyperbole here. And I’m saying this although I don’t even like the damn game.
Even if it was free to play, it would be tragic. Built on the assets of Siege and it's DLC, Ubisoft couldn't be bothered to come up with innovations to make this stand out somehow. I hope for a future where the bulk of consumers will not give game publishers a financial incentive to continue churning out in-game cash shops, lazily covered by uninspired games.

Streamed Vegas 2 just a couple of years ago, loved it, played it to death with my son when it first dropped, this it's my favourite R6 game.

Ground Branch is the spiritual successor to the original games. In early access on Steam. The past few Rainbow Six games don't deserve the title.

I haven’t played this yet but since it’s on gamepass I’ll give it a go this weekend but it doesn’t seem THAT bad. It doesn’t look great but it really doesn’t look terrible. I’m also a fan of siege so maybe that plays into it. You have to remember also that everyone has different taste, so just because Karak liked it a lot doesn’t mean he’s less honest than he used to be but he just likes that type of game maybe. Did you see his review the gunk? I think that was pretty honest.

Ubisoft and EA and Activision Blizzard have been churning out crap games every year for at least the last two decades. And they always sell several million copies every single time.
Yet OP is making it sound like they aren't selling, even though they are.

I get Mack's criticism of the character health system, but I remember it wasn't much different in the Original R6 game. You were given a crew of operatives, each with different weapons and roles. One to play as and rest to assign to the AI controlled teammates. If at anytime during a playthrough an operative was killed that operative was gone for the rest of the playthrough. If one was incapacitated he was out for next few missions or so. If you lost too many or all your operatives then the game replaced them with random generated John Doe operatives with no portrait on their character sheet.
Sum of all fears(game) was the same. It's still bad to do that in a online co-op shooter imo. I can accept that in a realistic singleplayer tactical shooter but not in this one.

It's still an awful mechanic. In the OG R6, the characters were basically all the same. I don't remember them having unique abilities. I also think you could customize their loadouts, so weapons werent linked to the operative.

Hey Mack, when are you going for a review of "Ready or Not"? A lot of hype on the game. I think it is very well made for a early access (in developement since ages ago). It should be something that you might like.
First saw the demo to this like 2 years ago and I thought then it looked like a 1/4 of a game. Like someone demoed some stuff to a executive and they just turned around and said...Well that's it done then, good job.
one thing that has me laughing each time is the "A Ubisoft Original" on the logo. its basically an asset flip from R6 Siege with a push on the split second reaction time, constant action and basically no immersion for the environment, just like in Siege which is a PvP game.
i will do you a service and tell you to rather play GTFO. it makes R6E look like Fortnite.

I think this is the first time I disagree with you. As a siege player who liked the outbreak event, extraction has been alot of fun. Ill say rn not worth 40 dollars but definitely worth my time. I like how you are punished for losing operators or health and it makes you play other ones. Having to take it slow and try to plan things out, for what i wanted out of a siege pve experience, it mostly delivered.

Long time ago. The early Assassins Creeds, Splinter Cell and other Clancy games and Prince of Persias used to be excellent. Now it’s just the same old uninspired, stale, creatively bankrupt, undercooked garbage. AC has been terrible since Origins. Both Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint are pretty poor. Far Cry has been mediocre since Far Cry three. Watchdogs has been formulaic and average for its entirety. Their battle royale game they released (so irrelevant I can’t even remember what it’s called) was a major flop. The Division 2 is awful. Ubisoft are swimming in a sea of formulaic mediocrity and have been for years.

This is like the Ubisoft suits saw some GTFO gameplay footage and thought: "yeah, we can copy that with existing assets and make some fast cash."

Ubisoft games are becoming extremely soulless.
This game is really good, but what's unique is that it is EXTREMELY unforgiving. Because it is Rainbow, it is also far more realistic than any other shooter. This is one of those games which you either have to play alone, or play it with a calm, coordinated team. You will NOT be able to accomplish anything in it if you just run everywhere and shoot anything that moves. Because those things will shoot back, and when they do, you will lose health which you can NOT gain back. The game uses a very realistic health system wherein if your Operator gets damaged in a mission, they will become unavailable to be used in the next (until they recover) which very much encourages stealth. You have to play this game as if YOU were in an Alien Apocalypse, traversing Alien-infected territories, and making every move of yours count. You have to be slow, calm, sneaky, and very much mindful of your surroundings. One little mistake, one wrong call, one bullet missed, and you may just alert a whole horde of Aliens and your mission is gonna require a different approach. This game is mainly getting negative reviews because people don't want to play it how its designed to be played. This is not COD where you can just spray-and-pray or slide-cancel your way out of every objective. You have to be quiet, patient and an absolute professional if you want to achieve full success. If you are mature enough to understand what I've said, then I would highly recommend you try this game. Play it Solo, take it slow, use smoke grenades to cover your advance, exfil when things get tough or you feel overwhelmed, and try to enjoy the approach this game offers. Overall, the game atmosphere is breath-taking, graphics are out of this world, gameplay is smooth, and the soundtracks and background themes are SO GOOD! Ubisoft has outdone themselves this time, and I really REALLY hope this game gets the recognition that it deserves, because it is truly one of the most unique and realistic shooter to be released in a very long time!

I would agree the boring parts of the game sound egregiously boring, but the health mechanic and the way the game makes you play a more varied cast I think seems interesting.

I had no intention of buying this game, but I was bored last night and said WTF I’ll try it anyway. All I can say is that your review is cracked. This game is surprisingly very fun and addictive. It’s not GOTY material, but I’m definitely getting my money’s worth.
Imagine playing and loving Rainbow Six Vegas in 2006 and being told "If you like this just wait till Rainbow Six Extraction in 2022!!

Edit: I do however really enjoy the fact you risk losing your favourite operator and have to go back and rescue them. I really don't see why this is getting so much stick. Surely it's more of a challenge than just levelling up and mowing through levels with ease? 🤷♂️
Yeah it keeps the game interesting. If it wasn't there the game would just be a boring hack and slash shooter. The difficulty and punishing aspects of the game design are there to keep you playing correctly. Most people run and gun in New York, but on higher difficulties you will get killed VERY quickly if you don't play smart.
So the missions are; fight for the NHS, or do you want grandma to die?
I don’t really agree with this honestly. First let me say I love Mack. Love his videos. Listen to almost all of his advice but I’ve been playing the game for two days now. Maybe a total of 4 hours. I can see how repetitive would come about but that’s any coop story shooter right? Same objectives, same boss battles in L4D. Then the health issue he is talking about…. We’re forced to use different guns and abilities… so what about halo then? I hate not having a BR for missions and using those dumb new weapons but that’s the game. This IS the game. There are 18 operators, they want you to use them and level them all up. Currently I have two 3s four 2s and one 4. I lost an operator due to my teammates being crap, and I rescued him. It’s a HARD game that requires teamwork. To say it’s trash… I just don’t know. Sure the objectives themselves are boring. But they are DIFFICULT. I’ve had 9 HP and had to rescue two teammates and extract. It’s exhilarating actually. I think I’ve only successfully completed all three parts of ONE mission thanks to great teammates. I see the flaws he mentions and I agree with some of them. I think it is ridiculous you can’t heal in mission…. 100 health and only temporary health pick ups is insane. I give it a 7/10. Price is fair. There’s replay-ability here. They’ve already announced free updates. Excited to see what is to come. I’m not saying Mack is wrong. Just trying to give my perspective

Never seen any of your videos before, and let me tell you I cried laughing. I saw this game pop up and haven't seen or heard anything about it prior and I've played a lot of rainbow six siege, I knew it would be garbage. When they had the zombies mode in the regular siege game it was hot garbage I don't know why they thought this would be good.

So they got the Division quarantine area and ported it in the Rainbow 6 game Engine. Ubisoft is actively trying to make just one game and sell it under 6 different names.

I think the idea with the health system is that players don’t play the same character each time, to create some variety/challenge.
I must agree, in a way i like that mechanic. People won't camp the same character over and over then. It pushes yourself to actually go out of your comfort zone.

I've been watching this one for a while and I was not disappointed! I'm having a blast with Extraction. And even better its FREEEE! Only complaint so far is the occasional revive bug. Seems to me all the hate is only coming from Siege players because it's not Siege 2. And for some reason their salt seems to makes the game even sweeter. Well this is exactly what I've been looking for in a co op shooter and I'm going balls deep in Extraction. Now I just need a decent squad. Getting paired with bad randoms sucks but that's with all games. At least in this game if they fuck up and get themselves killed there's the small yet satisfying consolation that you have the option to just leave them behind.
Should have done it earlier but after IGN gave this 7/10 (Good) im getting Patreon on this channel. Worth A Buy is the most important channel we have right now.

Whats even worse (for all of those who ain’t got that far yet) is that the maelstrom protocol missions reuse the EXACT same spawns for nests, supply crates, objectives and even enemies, quite literally making me do the same thing over and over again.

Even if it was free to play, it would be tragic. Built on the assets of Siege and it's DLC, Ubisoft couldn't be bothered to come up with innovations to make this stand out somehow. I hope for a future where the bulk of consumers will not give game publishers a financial incentive to continue churning out in-game cash shops, lazily covered by uninspired games.
