Disney Makes Nasty Public Statement About WDWNT, Tom Responds

- Disney made a nasty public statement about WDWNT. This is the response from Tom Corless regarding that remark from the Disney PR team. When WDWNT ran an article citing an anonymous source who said Bob Chapek would not be attending Destination D23 because Disney didn't want negative reactions from the crowd, such as booing, Disney PR went into full damage control mode, but perhaps they took things a step too far and made it personaI.

Where would you have been if you were Bob Chapek?
Dunno, maybe I just wouldn’t be CEO.
Getting alien makeup done so I could actually walk around the parks I have and not get mugged
Under my bed hiding. But then again, If I were CEO I wouldn't be a BEAN COUNTER that he is!
Basking beachside with my laptop and analytics generating data streams that optimize profit margins, regardless of customer satisfaction, increasing shareholder value, and trying to figure out how to charge consumers for fresh air and the privilege to buy the high priced merchandise.
Well I wouldn’t be ceo anymore :-)
"The public does not like this man (Chapek), this is not a news flash." "A man in a 2 bedroom apartment should not make you (Chapek) feel inadequate." Spot on, honest, and entertaining. BIG THUMBS UP TOM! Thank you!
Came here to say this.
Let's Go Chapek!!!! :)
It’s time for Chapek to resign.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@ephesians61011 the way to do that is to stop supporting disney.

Bob Chapek took the job of Disney CEO and immediately went to war with Disney Park guests, especially those who consider themselves hard core. Bob's got to go!
I totally agree … my hard core disney fan clients and VC members say they are Done with Disney. It’s a Horrible experience now
Do people really have such short memories? Eiger started it LONG before Chapek took the reins.

Except Chapek has ZERO to do with the parks now. It is strictly Josh. Y'all don't understand how companies work.
That's, uh, a pretty unprofessional response from Disney.
Disney is no longer a Professional Company but a Dumpster Fire.
But it’s an honest response -It’s obvious at times Disney holds its guests in very low regards -they use terms like “”passholes” for passholders and use rational like some guests would benefit from lower portion sizes because we are fat-bottom
@@C_Har They make the rockin world go round
Seriously, in most places releasing an official statement like that would mean polishing the old resume might be a good idea. Especially given the amount of negative publicity for them recently.

BEST LINE EVER Tom! “Im sorry Bob but you are the ceo of the largest entertainment company in the world, a man in a two bedroom apartment in Orlando should not make u feel inadequate, I should not even be on your radar, but I do love that I own some free real estate in your mind”
Preach!
Brilliant!
Absolutely 🔥🔥🔥💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Not to worry, if Disney streaming stagnates, and bundled ESPN/Disney cannels are losing subs, the Disney board will oust Chapek very quickly.
Disney has an image problem; Chapek is messing with nostalgia, and is not operating in the spirit of the company. They need to start asking themselves “what would Walt do?”
To be fair Walt would decide to not hire blacks, jews or women 🤣
@@salemsloane5820 If you look at the history of the company while Walt was alive, you’ll find that he did.
This is a time when family values is more important than ever - it’s not only nostalgia - it is the spirit of the company that made Disney my favorite getaway destination. We need it now more than ever!
Exactly!
@@salemsloane5820 except Walt did hire, blacks, Jews and women before I was even born.
What an incredibly unprofessional response. For DECADES now, the WDC's stance has been "Do not address directly and do not retaliate or engage." To paraphrase Han Solo, "You must have hit pretty close to the mark to get them all riled up like that!"
Spot on! Nice reference too…Fits this scenario like a glove.
For decades the company has always been people and families first but Chapek has tossed that down the toilet faster than a drug addict caught by the cops can toss a bag of meth.
I think it's about HIM, not about THEM. There's no indication that the rest of the Disney executives support him.
@@zippymufo9765 The board supports him because he's lining their pockets. Unfortunately, that's all that will matter unless consumers suddenly stop going to the parks and stop supporting the company, which won't happen.
@@RobCartwright and it’s a shame. Cause we as consumers have so much power if we just exercise the ability. I won’t be going to the parks. There’s cheaper things I could do for vacation. Time to explore options. 🤷🏻♀️. What chapek has done to the parks is terrible.
I think that the assumption that he didn't want to get boo'ed or heckled hit a little too close to home for Bobby Cheapek! They clearly scrambled to clean it up by making a bigger mess! 😂
Because he’s scared of being called a cash grabber
If he ever decides to attend a D23 he's going to get boo'd, people will not forget that he was too cowardly to face his shareholders. He has dug himself into a hole where he will either never attend a D23 or he will have to man up and take his boos. If you don't have thick enough skin to face criticism (from your loyal fan-base, easily the most forgiving people possible) then you don't deserve a C-Level career. Like, literally all he would have to do is come out on stage, say Spectromagic is back, and leave. He'd win over the majority of the audience and for a few hours people would forget about his terrible decisions.
@@etherealcaitiff I was waiting for them to say Spectromagic is back. They were playing the soundtrack and everything over the weekend.
It was the least amount of effort they could have done to prove they cared a tiny bit.
The CEO has an “undisclosed” appointment that is more important than your company’s big PR event 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He couldn’t figure out how to re-scheduled his conflicting reservation at Applebees 🤣
Disney’s PR sounds like a high school teenager when responding to the public.
Story time…when I was a cast member and Universal was about to open in Orlando. Disney ignored the hype and never responded to the bait that Universal was going to beat them. Instead on the day Universal opens, Disney took out full page ads welcoming them to the city and wished them success. Today…we get this crap from the VP of communications-who worked for WESH and saw first hand how Disney was always a class act. Ohhh how I wish for the class act days. Fire Bob and the PR team. Disgraceful
Soooo true!!! I’ve seen other commenters say that Disney never sweats competition. Now? This CEO scrambles and tries to bring the lightening lanes to compete with other parks? Sad
I miss Eisner.
Rising tides raise all ships. If someone comes to Orlando and loves the city and goes to Universal and has a blast, they’re more likely to come back for Disney.
@@hothotheat3000 Not necessarily.
@@hothotheat3000 they would probably give Disney a try but with the state of Disney services nowadays probably they won't come back and just stick with Universal.
"Conflict" implies he has something more important to take care of. If they can't even say what that is, it is clearly all BS. Especially if he was supposed to speak, why not just have him deliver his speech over something like zoom and project it for everyone to see? Is that not "magical" enough for them? They are clearly sheilding him from the hate he so rightfully deserves. Also thank you for showing that spoke person's name. That is insanely unprofessional and shameful of her, a new low if you will!
Exactly! It’s not even a good cover up for not being there and I’m sure that spokesperson is patting herself on her back but she must be dense because it was a nonsensical response worded poorly in the most unprofessional manner. I hope that “official response” follows her for the rest of her career. I don’t know why Disney board is allowing the Chapek Charade to continue. The fan base isn’t trying to cancel him…I’m sure he’d be a great CEO for another company but I’m damn sure he isn’t the person to lead Disney at this point in time (or ever). It’s OK to drop him and move on. Maybe they want him to resign and leave on his own. Maybe it’s not even a thought for them but it needs to be sooner or later.
Probably another meeting w the corrupt President lmao
You’re willing to believe whatever this guy says. He has given personal opinions and you can not weed out the facts. Rewatch this and try to pay attention to the details.
Right, they are a MEDIA company. They could even film and produce something ahead of time.
Guests upset, Hollywood upset, politicians upset, stock value dropping, parks slipping into the worst state in history, and he still has a job. Amazing.
Stock value dropping is the perfect rebuttal to him at least caring about shareholders. He don’t care about anyone. That or he’s a total idiot
@@PatThePerson How'd he even get in power anyway? Seems like a money grubbing goon to me.

I never comment on things ever but this is disgusting. I haven’t been to the parks since February 2020 and it’s very difficult to imagine wanting to go back with him at the helm. How much longer can this go on.
Own that real estate Tom!
I became a dad in late February 2020. I have been so excited to take our daughter to the park, but I feel like everything that is being done will make the experience not a great one like they use to be for our family.
February 2020...those of us that went right before the world fell apart! Fortunately I had bought a 3 day California resident pass, that they let me use twice a whole year later. Thirty percent capacity, when Disneyland first opened back up, did not suck! Only open to those of us with existing tickets 😁
As a stock holder there is a lot of discussion about the moves that have been made in the last 18 or so months in leadership. Stockholders are not happy right now and Bob is feeling the pressure. Stay tuned folks…this might end up as funny as a Goofy Does Sports cartoon
As a stockholder I agree.
Former stock holder, and no longer care to visit WDW nor Disneyland, after yearly and bi-yearly visits since 1974. Daughter sold her stock too and sold the Vacation Club membership too. There will always be people who go to Disney but this family is done.
Bob is doing what the shareholders want, taking ever dollar possible from guests.

After seeing the Twitter feeds of the parks and how they’re stopping lower than universal it honestly doesn’t surprise me and it’s so sad….
It sounds like they don't like to be called out on their BS. They just expect everyone to go on our merry way and don't look behind the curtain.

I find it difficult to believe that his calendar wasn't blocked out months in advance for D23. You take Bob Chapek and put him next to someone like Josh D'Amaro and you truly see how lacking his skills are when dealing with Disney guests, fans and employees.

As a past castmember I would have lost my job if I would have spoke like that.
We absolutely love Disney World but this year we decided to put our energy into Universal because of the disrespect we experienced and multiple concerns beyond just us. When we wanted to comment about our concerns, we were advised from friends to not be publicly negative as people would think we were just being mean and it would only make us look bad. I've always been bothered by sweeping it under the rug. I actually felt relief when others went public with their feelings. Thank you for sharing this story.

Stunned by Disney's savagery and condescension. What's happened to these people?
Wow! Way to burn Bob. Loved the comment at the end, "If you're the CEO...A man in a two-bedroom apartment in Orlando should not make you feel inadequate." Disney should not be so petty, and the fact that it just shows how far off track they are.

Thank you! People seem to forget D'Amaro is in charge of the parks. Every change that has happened at the parks, he has had a hand in. He gets constant praise because he is good looking & seen in the parks occasionally, talking to CMs.
If you ask me, it seems like this is akin to something happening in a locker room in professional sports and the team's PR department being more mad about the information getting out than the incident that actually happened.
I made a video on my channel to this response to you as well! Thank you for standing up to their bully tactics & poor PR response!
Its apparent by their attack on your channel that they are unable to handle the truth. But it simply illustrates the sad state of affairs within their leadership. Dont back down from your position or your truthful reporting.
This is my favorite Disney review channel. Keep up the good work, Tom. When you like something about Disney, you are their strongest advocate. Everyone knows corporate PR is run by flacks and hacks. So, they're ignored. When an independent, such as WDWNT speaks, the more credence is given.
Good God. Is the Disney Board of Directors unconscious?
If the customers dislike the CEO, then you have a hugh problem. It will eventually impact the stock price.
Disney has lost its way thanks to the Bob and Bob show.
It’s since come to light that the event in LA was a dinner at Bob Iger’s house. So Chapek’s reason for not coming to Florida was a house party.

I'm glad people are finally starting to realize that billionaire ceos aren't their friends. Chapek can go sit on a cactus.
It’s those people with the name tags in costumes who are in the parks who at least try to be. Some don’t care for Disney and some are jaded but many stand by the philosophy of making magic. The CEO doesn’t make a company money it’s those people selling you stuff and stocking shelves or performing services that do and everyone knows this.
@@PatThePerson I’m not sure everyone knows this, and I wish more people did. Many folks seem unable to differentiate the Disney creatives who just wanted to make art, who’s dream was to become an animator or director or voice actor, from the higher-ups who only care about money. People who care about the art tend to leave their mark and it really shows, (Ryan Coogler, Dana Terrace, Alex Hirsch, Taika Waititi) even though the company they work for might be a cold corporate capitalistic machine.

Thank you for advocating for us Cast. We appreciate everything you do, even if corporate doesn't.
Went to WDW last week and that will be my last time. Yes it is expensive, but I felt totally taken. Rude cast member who wouldn't accommodate a member of my party who couldn't walk without extreme pain. They have removed experiences with no push to replace them. Newsflash you can now buy cigarettes at the resorts, but they are hidden behind a counter near the booze. Line jumping was the worse ever. Try waiting in the handicap line at a resort and 2 young jerks on scooters cut 6 scooter parties in front of them. Disney did nothing and allowed them to do it, despite the yelling of the people in line. Really who needs that. I was told that the CMs that monitored this had their last day yesterday. Then you had CMs apologizing because they were doing the job of 4 people. Bob Paycheck will realize this year they got the money from people with no real deals this year, but they won't get their money down the road. The refill resort mugs had an awful smell/taste to them from the manufacturing process that made them unusable. Paid for Photo Pass and missing 2 sets of photos. One I could live without by the set missing from the MK Christmas Tree irks me. Lightning at the World Showcase at night was so low that it was a hazard. I ordered a burger at The Land and just died when they pulled it out of a warmer cabinet. I ordered the breakfast platter at the resort and it was great. The next morning it was cold and half the portions. You can see where they cut back and it is disgusting.
My wife and I are Disney Vacation Club members since 1994 and Stockholders since 1993. We did an 11 day stay this month. We went to “The After Hours” party in the Magic Kingdom. In the 28 years that we have been going to WDW, this “party” was a shock. In all the trips we have made to Disney, we encountered more openly unhappy Cast Members in that one night, than in all of our other visits ….COMBINED! No where else, just at this party, which was way overpriced and very disappointing. I could go on, but the point being, something is wrong, and I suspect it is with “Bobby Cheapskate”.
I know that he's in the DCEU and not the MCU, but Chapek looks a lot like Lex Luthor to me. lol
We the patrons of Disney pay all of their paychecks shame on them
This is ridiculous my friend!!!! Wow! Bob would absolutely would have gotten backlash if he showed up at D23. It’s incredibly sad to know you receive such letters.
This is hysterical Disney even had time for this. I would figure Chapek is too busy readjusting price tags up another 4.00 or so on the same item in another 2 weeks time. Without even taking the old sticker off. He wonders why no one can stand the sight of his face.
Disney has gone downhill over the past few years. Definitely has lost their magic.
Until the diehard fans and their cash that fuels the Disney machine get enough of this and remove their patronage nothing will change. Popular opinion is one thing. Removing their business speaks the loudest.
Tom, stand your ground.
Yeah I agree he's GOTTA FRICKIN GO!!!
In my mind, the whole Genie thing would've been great if it had been FREE! Folks are paying enough into the parks already, or if they somehow weren't, it would've been fairer to raise park tickets by $5 per person per day, rather than creating a tiered system for $15 per person per day.
A "real Genie" would be magic, and wouldn't (and shouldn't) charge for granting wishes! In the real world, we call those SCAM ARTISTS!
But seriously, think of how cool a concept it would've been to have algorithmic itineraries developed for you free of charge! Think of how well-received that would've been.
I'm really sorry Disney has spoken so rudely about you man. It's just so unfair what's going on right now.
Wow Tom that’s a crazy comment to you from Disney. Keep up the good fight.
I’m at Disney springs right now and it’s not what it used to be at all… we are staying off property and hubs & I were talking about how things have changed and frankly gone down hill the last 5 years and it hurts my heart.
You’re right. Disney Springs is 100x better than the tiny, run down self it used to be from the 90s thru before the expansion and actual theming that makes sense. Keep your 90s downtown Disney nostologia. I liked it to as a kid and I visit it in pictures. So much better now.
We were there in June and came away feeling similarly. Kept looking around, and the costs, thinking what the benefit of staying on property was anymore.
@@kxk2328 You can make that argument for the Marketplace side of Disney Springs and even The Landing, but the West Side now is strictly worse than it used to be. Nothing new or interesting has been added there in an eternity and instead things have only been taken away. Disney Quest was a remarkable attraction in its own right that was allowed to deteriorate and become dated, and in its place they had the brilliant idea to install a cash-grab NBA Experience attraction that immediately bombed because shockingly it turns out that far more people who visit Disney World care more about Disney than the NBA. Meanwhile Town Center is filled with ordinary clothing retailers that can be found at any other decent outdoor mall, with generic theming to match. On any given outing to Disney Springs you aren't missing anything by skipping Town Center - that's how much of a missed opportunity their usage of that space was. Downtown Disney being smaller is irrelevant when a huge chunk of the expansion is just wasted space.
You can be harsh at times but you speak exactly how you feel and as a life long fan that should be allowed when it comes to Big Bad Bob and his spineless ducking out because he might get his wittle ego hurt. Looks like you might have hit too close to home for Mr. Bob Paycheck :(
I love that us “common folk” can make him squirm. I’ve emailed him a few times about many things and he has never responded. Just look at the Disney stock, it’s been going down since all the parks opened. That doesn’t even make sense.
Thank you Tom for using your platform to relay how we feel. Also, thank you for always providing us with information that we can use to improve our vacation that we pay so much money for. Talk about entitled people…
As an overseas visitor it’s becoming more frustrating that the Disney dollar seems more important than the Disney magic. Flights and accommodation costs are off the scale at the moment! We love Disney but not all the extra costs now involved! It’s too much!
Thanks 🙏🏻 Tom for keeping us informed. Hopefully Pooh Bob steps down soon.
As someone that works in Communications and PR the fact that they issued such an unprofessional response is mind-boggling. This is pr101 you do not engage with hecklers all that does is take you down to their level, and add credibilty to whatever they are saying. You can explain yourself but you always have to take the high road. This is absolutely unprofessional coming from a company of this size with the resources they have. Clearly somebody responded when angry.
While I agree that the statement is unprofessional, Tom, and WDWNT as a whole, are absolute trash and need to be completely blacklisted by Disney and the Disney community. So at the end of the day I agree with her and most people in the Disney community are thrilled that someone called WDWNT out.
Here here. ✊✊ You have my support Tom!!!!!!!
If it really were a double booking, they'd send a video clip by him, but no doubt that would get boos too so they won't. What an awful company they're becoming, so sad to witness this demise to one of the world's most loved companies
Tom I love that we can live rent free in Chapek's head. When he leaves he can evict us
We need honest reporting of what Disney is doing and planning. Using their legal muscle may be "legal" but it is far from moral. We appreciate your channel, as well as others that don't kowtow to Disney, giving us the straight ****. Me and my family have cancelled trips to WDW because of Chapek's actions. He's the enemy of Disney fans.(BTW, I wish I could "like" this video more than once!)
You are 100% right. Bob is destroying the WDW brand. I used to be a huge fan travelling to Orlando so many times from London. After all the new changes I would spend my money elsewhere.
“Leadership means that a group, large or small, is willing to entrust authority to a person who has shown judgment, wisdom, personal appeal, and proven competence.” -Walt Disney
Now would be a good time to get back to the founder’s core values of leadership.
