I feel it's better to just spend the extra $5 for the ONN 4K boxes, as they have more RAM, and a slightly better SOC. The only thing I don't like about the ONN 4K boxes is the HDMI cord, and the power cable being on the left, and right side of the box instead of the back which makes making clean cable runs slightly harder.
Thanks Luke!
Thanks for the info.
I bought the $20 version to one of my gf’s sister. She love it.
For the extra $5, just get the 4K version. I mean, $5.
I like either one bought 2 of the first ones no complaints.
One thing I like about the 4k version that I never see mentioned is, even on an HD TV like mine, it allows you to play higher quality (2k/4k) CZcams even though you technically are downgraded to HD. You still see better colors and higher bitrate then watching the HD videos.
Not bad I have the Onn 4k streaming box.
I got the 4K box about a year ago but it has a Bluetooth problem with the remote after it has been on for a few minutes.
Is there a way to log out of your CZcamsTV without completely removing your account on the ONN device. I have the device and I am not able to log out of my Google account without resetting the device. On the Roku device one is able to log out (exit) out of the app and re-sign in.
I bought a couple of the original Onn HD streaming boxes. I liked them well enough, but the remotes broke rather quickly. I hope these are better.
I've not had an issues with the remote except one with a very slightly sticky directional pad, but having several of the boxes/sticks since they came out, it does not look like Walmart, and whomever is their OEM is spending any money to change the remotes other than what ROKU does with the shortcut keys going to the highest bidders. Good thing about this though is just like Roku if you upgrade the box/stick, and keep your old remotes, and the new remote gets broken, or lost, then you have a spare remote without having to track down a new one.
I like the devices I have both of them I love the live tap to get Quick access to all my shows I will say the 4K box is better but I like them both
The question as far as a full HD (1080p) vs. 4K device is this: Does the device upscale the picture to full HD or 4K or is it simply passing the source data to the TV and the TV does the upscaling? From what I have heard, it is just pass through, other than the Nvidia Shield, which does upscale. Thus, unless your streaming source data is 4K (which is almost none at this point), there is no extra value to a 4K streaming device. It's just passing the data to your TV, which does the upscaling.
I like the remote call me crazy
Why didnt you mention that this streaming stick supports 3rd party downloadsnad that the Amazon Firesticks will soon stop supporting 3rd patry downloads.
one thing i will add you seem to leave out when comparing streaming devices is like the Fire TV this device lets you Bluetooth speakers and headphones which already makes it better than Roku. Also way less adds is another plus. I have the 4k version but looks like the HD version would also cover my needs. Thanks for the review!
Yes but if you have DirecTV Stream it doesn't work on mine acts glitchy but works on everything else.
Cool
Price is ok but they are a little late players. Most people I think will spend a few extra bucks for the better model or Roku/Firestick.
Yeah it may only make sense for a guest room, but i would still go with a roku 4k stick and be future proof.
Google TV is a better OS, Period!
I’m actually ditching an Amazon fire stick because I like the aesthetic of Google better. (Easier on my eyes)
I have both but find (roku & google) but google tv os is more complete
@sportsfan7702 Google TV got an apps only mode also where they only show the apps on the home screen, but seriously, those ads are so useful when you're bored and don't knownwhat to watch. So Fire TV and Google TV ads are actually pretty awesome if you think about them. Google TV is somewhat easier to navigate, though. It's more concise. Roku is boring af! Hahaha At least on Google TV and Fire TV, it's easy to run our Android apps that are alsonavailble on our phones. Haha. If I'm paying forna streamer, it better do more than stream. Haha. I have the 3rd Gen Cube, a Fitestock 4K Max, a Shield TV, a Chromecast with Google TV all over my house. And cary the cheaper Onn Google TV 4K box for my travels in case I lose it. Haha
I’m going back-and-forth on these two devices from my bedroom. I really truly think it’s going to be worth the extra five dollars for the extra RAM . Am I honestly overlooking something?
Can one contact listening device via Bluetooth and listen that way?
it s ok but had audio glitches kept muting limited on VPN access
Will it run the Tablo app for the new Tablo’s? And if so, will it integrate the live channels from the Tablo into the “Live” section of the Onn device? I’m looking for the simplest device to get to the Tablo’s OTA stations for my 94 year old mother in law who would have a hard time jumping through menus to get there. I know neither the Amazon Sticks nor the Apple TV will do that. Roku will, but hoping this cheaper device can also do it.
Had a hdhomerun and it had a hdhomerun app but it didn't interrogate it to live TV section. Probably will be the same for Tablo.
I own a Google TV and the tablo 4th gen and as of now it does not integrate to continue watching or live
I have a fire TV recast,. I plug my OTA antenna into the back of the recast follow set up and voila. I have my OTA channels added to my live TV guide all in one place
@@bigmo1974 tablo and HDhomerun are better. Can you use your recast on non Amazon products?
is tablo an attenae?
So most people this wouldnt come up, but the box is harder to hide, the stick stays nicely behind the TV.
How to forward, backward and pause recorded games ?
Are these things updated regularly?
does it support Fios TV app
Can you plug it in to your phone because I want something I can take with me
How I get it in Cyprus ?
the 4k version has better picture quality than my shield.
And more
Won’t let anyone in my house connect their google account it keeps failing
I'm tech dumb. So you have to have wifi for these to work or does put networks onto tv or people have to download tv and these networks? Dumb, so I like to plug and go. I only have Tubi on phone and unlimited data. Thanks.
Every streaming device on the market requires a internet connection for it to actually function, hopefully this information helps
Google TV is the best! Google TV got an apps only mode also where they only show the apps on the home screen, but seriously, those ads are so useful when you're bored and don't knownwhat to watch. Just out of curiosity, why do you keep saying haha?
@@sadstatue1329 because some people type how they talk. Stay on topic bruh
@@sadstatue1329haha is sounding like Disney villain hoarding streaming devices. but no shade i was reading it that voice.
@@itowilltube thank you for explaining 😄
I'm a virgin to these products. I still need internet hooked up in my house and a modem. I have no idea. Thanks for kindly responses.
when i go to other countries with this , will it work ?
Yes but some apps may not.
What is their internet browser
It does not have a internet browser. The Downloader app had a browser but it has been removed from the the Google Playstore.
Downloader has been rightfully reinstated on Playstore.
Can you use on a Roku TV
Yes
I got rid of CZcams TV after I heard about the local channels wanting more money. No thanks it’s no cheaper than cable now
There are a ton of apps, that can get you tv channels besides youtube tv.Ever heard of TVMate? It has over 600 channels. There are so many more apps ,you can add.I am never going back to cable.
Does anyone know if twitch is on this?
Yes I just looked.
Yes, there is an official app for it.
Can you get the regular channels for free?
Define regular channels?
@@deniseg8312I think he is referring to OTA local channels.
Anyway, Happy Holliday's everyone!
Nice easy access mute button for those forced ads... gives us time to chat.
Now this device is 17.50 lol
I have one
Does it comes unlocked to download APK's?
You have to manually unlock the device just like any other streaming device I'm assuming
But do I need a PC to unlock it or is like the firestick just turning the developer's options on?
come unlock? It's not hard to download and install apks. Lmao. It's not like an iPhone where you would have to jailbreak it
You don't need a computer. There are several videos on youtube, that show you how to add apps.@@luisraulitoortiz17
Oh I have the other one
Women of wrestling.
Personally I'd recommend the Google Chromecast TV:
Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG
8GB storage (which frankly is small)
Ethernet / USB option
Walmart ONN 4K Streaming
No mention of any HDR whatsoever
8GB storage (which frankly is small)
No mention of any Ethernet option whatsoever
It has the same storage as any other streaming stick on the market which 8G currently the only streaming stick out there with more store in a stick is the new Fire Stick 4K Max with 16G
@@MANOTTI781 .. Huh?? Look what I said again in my comparisons.
The USB port for power is a USB OTG port meaning you can use a micro USB to Ethernet adapter, like a fire stick.
@@RoastBeefSandwich .. Yeah like I said "option" --> Ethernet / USB option ($19.99 Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast with Google TV)
I don't recommend, the display is dark , I just received plug in set up but va chromecast 1080p the onn device is very dissapointment
Don't know what you did,but my display is fine. The ONN device is great.
uses micro usb complete junk
