- Join me and @NicoleHikesalot on an overnight on the Bishop Pass trail of the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. We camp at a beautiful campground up in the mountains outside of Bishop California to prep for our adventure. The trip begins at South Lake at the Bishop Pass Trailhead. We hike up to and make basecamp at Long Lake. On day two we hike up towards Bishop Pass climbing past one jaw dropping Alpine Lake after another. It feels amazing to be back in the Sierra!

The Eastern Sierras are just absolutely stunning with its craggy rock-strewn path with the cathedral-like mountains for a backdrop and jeweled lakes below. It is truly a spectacular place to be. What a joy it must be to hike there and "go home", as Muir said so many moons ago. Jenny :o)
WOW!, another beautiful escape into Gods back yard. it's funny, when i ask people, what they think of first when i say California, they say,L.A., San Francisco. before i started coming along on your excursions i used to think the same thing. now i think about being in the mountains. a couple of scenes, if it wasn't for the trees and sky, one would think you were filming in black and white, then the next scene is filled with the beautiful lake the colors of the mountains. i'll never think of the big cities in California again. just escaping to the serenity of calm and beauty in the mountains. i could go on for hours, thank you for the best way to start my day.

I've been to South Lake many times, but never hiked to Long Lake. Thanks for taking me there in such a beautiful video, Catherine! I didn't want it to end. The Eastern Sierra's are my second home. I'm so glad I live nearby and can visit often. We share the awe and wonder of this Godly country. It's where I go to church.

Wow! Thanks for taking me home to the Sierra Nevada. I worked and lived in Yosemite NP for a couple of years in the mid '80's, Truckee for 2 years in late '80's, and lived in Oakhurst/Bass Lake for a couple of years in the mid '90's and How'd I miss Bishop Pass!? I always made it to Schat's Bakery though, while in Bishop. I explored extensively in the Whitney Portal, Ancel Adams wilderness, Yosemite, the Sierra National Forest, Mammoth Mountain, and Lakes, White Mountains, Lundy, Saddlebag, Virginia Lakes, June Lakes area, and Lake Tahoe area, and the Desolation wilderness. There's a lifetime of trails, and so many wonderful and scenic gems, all throughout the Sierra's, so thanks for taking me to one I missed.

Feeling is somehow transcendental with the flowers of Dodecatheon... as you mentioned, it is difficult to explain, you must to be here... you are walking near the heavenly height, exploring a boundary above which is the dead Lunar - or Martian - landscape and below the extremely delicate and barren and beautiful frontier of life 🌼🌎🪐

When I see beautiful lakes like that. First I want to fish them, then I want to throw on a bathing suit and dive in.....lol. of course I know it would be freezing.....but just for a few minutes. The water just looks so inviting.

I go to Eastern Sierra, every fall, to photograph the fall colors. I have missed it for 2 years and it is killing me. I love the area: from Lake Sabrina, all the way to the north of Twin Lakes (near Bridgeport). Thank you for reminding me how beautiful the area is.
Big pats on the backs to those that build and maintain that trail, as a lot of back breaking work went into it. Gorgeous video as always. It’s always a treat to go on adventures with you.
I am from Northern California. I am now living in the Colorado Rockies. I have lived in the Cascades of Central Oregon and for 8 months in the Sandias of New Mexico. But, the Sierra Nevada is my most beautiful home. I miss them. Catherine, as always, your beautiful videos are so peaceful and relaxing. I have not experienced the Bishop area. I will definitely visit when I return some day.

The wind blew me out of Bishop a couple of weeks ago! On my drone app it was showing 60 mph gusts recently!
One gust almost knocked me, my tripod and camera down.

I can't explain it other than it's like going to our second home. The intro was nice leading into fantastic scenery. We've also been watching the temps to see if we might get a break before the really hot weather continues. We like to camp the Sierra in the fall and winter months. Thanks for taking us along!
