What did I learn from this video? Tom Petty is not petty.
Mind blown
David Wiley haha... this deserves more likes.
David Wiley awesome
So true, One of the few!!! :D
Danana J
plagiarism aside, can we all agree that Tom Petty is pretty much the nicest dude ever?
Lol Tru
Totally an awesome dude.
Indeed! I love Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers :)
I dunno...I've heard he's rather...petty...
Mr_ BornToDie no thanks but I'd be happy to help you with it if you say another word...
Okay but the ABBA vs. Shania Twain one was really similar. And dancing queen is such an iconic song too
But we all know Shania's husband is a producer. So he should have known better.
Rev Wolf actually no Mutt Lange and Shania split up in 2010 he cheated with her best friend and she is ugly lol poor Shania .
@@heavenl4307 What a dumbass
Icons are religious symbols. And Abba are atheists
Grunthos The Flatulent really, it’s religious symbols? I didn’t know that and have never heard anyone use it in context before. I guess i could reword it to being an amazing and easily recognisable song then
"Major and Minor difference" - I see what you did there.
That part in the video just played as i read this comment
I caught that too 😄
Also caught that, hah. Gotta love music jokes.
Under Pressure vs Ice Ice Baby is not just soundalike, they use identical music with added effects! Ice Ice Baby was complete plagiarism!
They said they weren't going to count sampling if you couldn't hear mate aha
^^
+Skittles Rainbow Thank you! And the fun part, Ice was sued and he had to pay royalties to Queen. What he gets for stealing music that's not his.
+CocoCece08 clearly you don't know much hip-hop is based on sampling other songs
B × N J A M I N Actually, I know how to give credit where credit is due. Unlike a hack like Vanilla Ice who couldn't rap even if he was on fire.
there's only so many chords that fit together shits gonna repeat
Exactly.
Are you suggesting we start liking chords that sound like shit? Are doing that now?
+Gil Shackelford are you fucking dumb he didn't say anything like that
Um, yes. Listen to the opening music in the CNN TV show"The Hunt" with John Walsh.
***** calm down mate one day life will give you a real problem so practice acting normally or it will all be too much for you
I'm a heavy metal fan but, when I hear Abba's Dancing Queen, I can't help but to travel down to funky town, and get down with my bad self.
Yes same
There's apparently a Swedish band that did a heavy metal cover of Gimme Gimme Gimme
As a writer and an artist, it's hard not to let those iconic lyrics and riffs creep into something you are trying to create. There are only so many tempos, cords and note condemnations available to work with. And with the millions of songs that have been written, it's hard not to have something sound similar to something that has already been done.
That's what I say.
You guys forgot vanilla Ice- ice ice baby vs Queen- under pressure
Thats had a lawsuit, they said they did not include ones with lawsuits
Megan Dutton it's there at 16:18
+Megan Dutton they said at the beginning of the vid that they weren't touching on sampled songs with the example of Rick James' Superfreak Vs MC Hammer's U Can't Touch This. here's a really good example of sampling vs stealing : listen to Warren G's Regulate and then listen to the beginning of Michael McDonald's I Keep Forgetting
+Megan Dutton Thats not a "sound-alike" - thats a complete rip of!
Sorry😁😔 potte88 SkinnyKitchen TheZooropaBabyAngel Lane*****Drew Reece
I honestly think I will never understand the Express yourself and Born This Way comparison
+therealbologna2 Same here! They don't sound alike!
Luc Da Great Also lets not act like its madonna who wrote her songs.
Yeah, I think they sound alike because of their lyrics, but not their sound...
+Mister Independent She may have written the lyrics at best (and they're not exactly controversial or deep), but there's not a chance in the world she composed the song itself. Let's not forget that she surrounds herself with the best producers and song writers who pretty much do 95% of the work, while she lip synchs them on stage.
You're right though. Pot calling the kettle black.
+therealbologna2 same. I need a lot of imagination to hear that
*when they hear the intro and bass of john deacon of the Under Pressure
Young college's: ohh thats ice ice baby
Me: Bruh
Edit: Gawd, i didn't know i made a comment like these before. Tbh young people in the campus really thought that under pressure was a copy of ice2x baby since it was mostly their childhood song
Word to your mother..
"Alright Stop....While I do up my laces" Jim Carey as Vanilla Ice on In Living Color :) LOL
Mr Ice has never ever said anything to the contrary. The credit is literally on the record single.
@@zapkvr but it was enough for Queen to take legal action. They settled out of court.
So relateable dude all my friends think it’s ice ice baby and I was raised on Queen. It’s quite sad
“Why don’t you get a job” is LITERALLY identical to “Ob-la-di” - I think that every time I hear it. The same. Same structure too. You could sing one song while the other was playing and everything would line up exactly
FUCK you just ruined them both for me! 🤣 You are absolutely right, how could I miss this all these years of having BOTH in my playlist 🤐
AJ • IKR? Even the staccato feel of the backing track is the same. They could definitely have sued for that one if they wanted.
Always thought so, too. And I have sung the words of one to the tune of the other, just to prove my point. They line up.
nobody can convince me get a job isn't just a parody of Ob-la-di.
what, i don't realize it. i like both of the songs. i play them a lot
You forgot the most important one, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star vs. the ABC's.
This comment is gold
Sapphire Pink They're literally the same tune! I want to see a court case right now!
Omg, yes! 😂
OMG HOW DID THEY FORGET
Lol
By calling One Direction singers , you offend music
Why is that?
Вадим Никулин Have you heard about reggaeton? One Direction is freaking opera compared to that.
Thanks for agreeing with me :)
that was rude..:(
***** and count how many times Harry has been hit in the balls and face
All songs are similar to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.
🤯
All music just rips off Zog's "UUH-NUH-GRUH!!" circa 13858 BC.
GunterJPN literally.
They all rip borrow from edouard Leon Scott de Martinville - au Clair de la lune (1860)
It's in the public domain..so it's allowed!
"...can't be sued for plagiarizing yourself"
Tell that to Clapton...
And John Fogerty
Was going to also suggest Neil Young here; but realized he was actually sued for the opposite reason... he got sued for not sounding enough like Neil Young when he released an album in the 80’s that was drastically different from anything he’d done previously. If I recall correctly, the court did the right thing and ruled in his favour.
And Jimmy Page...
@@martinboyle9163 --- Hmmmm. I don't know about that, because Zeppelin stole a LOT of music over the years.
All I am getting is that people don't understand chords and chord progressions. There are only so many chords and progressions that sound good together let alone on a certain beat. if songs sound similar it is usually because of chord progression and transposing. It is very rare that a song is completely original and doesn't sound like any other song that has ever existed.
+Mrsbrazeng I agree. So much has been done in the past that it's really hard to create something totally original now. Not impossible, but pretty hard. What can also happen is that you've heard a song when you were younger and not remembered it consciously and then when you get to writing, you write something very similar by accident. That's happened to me.
+Mrsbrazeng This is very true, and I completely understand it when it happens. Then there are cases where it is much to obvious that no one skips over it, and they continue anyway. Baba O'reiley and Best Song ever intro and riff are unmistakably similar. That isn't to say it's One Direction's fault so people shouldn't blame them, it is there composer's problem, but there is absolutely NO WAY that they "accidentally" copied multiple sections of the same song for a variety of instruments.
+Mrsbrazeng Reminds me of a video I saw on youtube a while ago, where a comedian made a joke about how many songs sound like Pachelbel's canon in D, called "Pachelbel Rant." It's really funny and true. Now it's not like all these artists throughout history are trying to rip off a long dead composer, but, like you said, there are only so many chord progressions.
But I do think sometimes people will either intentionally or unintentionally copy or imitate songs they've heard before.
Watch a video by Vsauce titled, Will we ever run out of new music? Then attempt to re think your position on plagiarism.
+Mrsbrazeng Thats bullshit since most of the time, the songs also copy the structure, repetition, and feels. Its one thing to have a similar set of notes, there is a difference when multiple aspects are familiar or really close.
what about under pressure and ice ice baby
it said no sampling.
+Olga Nastya what does that mean
Shawn Davis using motives from other songs.
Olga Nastya but that's what the video is about
Shawn Davis as I already said, in the beggining of the video it says: "We do not include sampled songs, just sound-alikes." That means they include songs that sound similiar, but are not supposed to be.
werewolves of london (warren zevon) - sweet home alabama ( Lynyrd Skynyrd) - all summer long (kid rock)
Difference is he got permission. Lol
Inscest
Kid Rock got permission to sample Sweet Home Alabama from Lynyrd Skynyrd
That would be considered sampling which they said at the beginning wouldn’t be a part of this list.
Lady Madonna: is in A
What I Got: is in D
WatchMojo: “They’re even in the same key!”
It's a shameful mistake after that "major and minor differences" joke at the start.
#4 . both songs start with the word "remember"
Yeah I noticed that too.
i think there's a difference between being inspired, and ripped off! like the sublime one sounds similar but, still enough difference to call it their own
well they didn't say "10 rip-offs", they said "10 sound-alike songs"
Completely agree.
Sia - Cheap Thrills vs. Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You
Exactly! I can never tell which is which at the beginning until they start singing.
I can hear the resemblance. It's just the beggining though.
Ed copied sia
Ed Siaran.
What do you mean by that?
Music is a continuum. You take the music of those who came before you, you make it your own, then pass it on to those who come after you. No one is ripping off anything. Enjoy it and dont think too much.
omg you missed the biggest one ever! O_O twinkle twinkle little star VS A,B,C. dont think so? HUM IT RIGHT NOW
+Griffon Smith Hahaha
+Griffon Smith there the same exact song just other words lol
i realized that when i was younger i was surprised
+Griffon Smith and baba black sheep
+Griffon Smith Baba black sheep was the first one compare to twinkle twinkle little star and abc
I dont see the resemblance in Express Yourself and Born This Way
For me they sound different too
The songs don't sound the same, but I do feel they are both making a point to be proud of who you are. Basically "Express Yourself" was anthem for people in the 90s and "Born This Way" was a anthem for 21st century.
Its very obvious dude (or dudette).
It sounds exactly the same. Gaga just rips of Madonna every chance she gets. Born this Ways music ripped off Express yourself. Applause's music ripped off Girl Gone Wild and Judas video is a rip of of Like a Prayer.
WatchMojo played the wrong section of "Express Yourself". I think the similarity in the melody is heard during the lyric "So if you want it right now, make him show you how. Express what he's got, oh baby ready or not."
I think The Offspring were unknowingly referring to this host.
Huey Lewis & The News "I want a new drug"
VS
Ray Parker, Jr. "Ghostbusters"
Yeah, they settled out of court. What's crazier is that Huey Lewis was approached to do the Ghostbusters song first
This is by far the most obvious one to me!!
Iwasaqt add “Pop Musik” by M to that list. That song was actually before Huey’s song, so they should have sued him.
😂🤣😅
U obviously saw the unsung on Ray Parker jr
I've always confused Ice Ice Baby with Under Pressure
NikiNack13 same here
I know right
NikiNack13 its called " sampling"
Kj f what do you mean?
Macey Mathews SAME
I honestly can't wait until I'm 17, just so I can sing and dance to Dancing Queen 😂
sᴀme
Cesca Alice same
Cesca Alice just dance to their other songs until then 😂😂
mother said I was a dancer before I could walk.....
frankthelion my mommy says im special
"I'll be missing you" stolen from "Every breath you take"
thats a really good one, i thought i was the only one that heard that!
@@davidjamestarka9480 Thanks, everyone misses that one!
Every Breath You Take intentionally copied the chord progression from Stand By Me (Ben E. King). It was intended as a dark mirror on obsession / possessiveness and they chose to play off Stand By Me's theme of loyalty and togetherness.
@@daviderickson8699 This chord progression is probably the most used in popmusic the laast say 50 years. The list goes on and on! :)
And watch this clip:
czcams.com/video/5pidokakU4I/video.html
Twas a sample. I mean, they literally sing the same lyrics. The rapper on that song made absolutely nothing from it, it all went to The Police.
young band obviously influanced by an old band, gets sued by the band they grew-up listening to. Everyone just chill out and be more like Tom Petty.
Ironically Tom Petty is not Petty
Well fuck 1 direction
Taylor swift "wildest dreams" sounds like Lana Del Rey "without you" and many more
I thought it sounded like here in your arms by hellogoodybye
+BrandonBowden OMG this is the first thing I thought when I heard It for the first time!!
Yes! When I heard "wildest dreams" for the first time, I was like "this Taylor Swift song is actually not to bad"
Later I heard Lanas song again and realised why
+williBoBilli FoFilli YES I listened to taylor's new song and was like maybe i should give another chance then realised it was just like Lana's Without You
I rhought it sounded like Honestly😂
One Direction also copies Grease's Summer Nights and Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar On Me. Madonna copied Michael Jackson's Billie Jean and The Jacksons' Can You Feel It, in Like a Virgin and Material Girl.
Madonna didn't copy Michael, it was the same producers.
(sorry if i write anything wrong)
Heloisa Helena it may be the same producers Heloisa but, as we can see in the Clarkson/Beyoncé case in the video, it doesn't mean it's 'original' the intro of Like a Virgin is almost a ripoff of Billie Jean
What song is Summer Nights supposed to be with One Direction? They have taken a few chords from Pour Some Sugar On Me, I think everyone noticed that but what song did they use for Summer Nights://Grease?
Aliana Canales it was What Makes You Beautiful, the intro of the song is identical to Summer Nights
No that One Dick band has taken it to far, I didn't think the knew what rock was let alone Def Leppard, it sickens and saddens me that they dare copy Pour Some Sugar on Me. This fools couldn't write their own song and play and write the instrumentals too even if they were given all the time in the world.
You forgot Lady Gaga´s "Alejandro" which sound similar to "Don´t Turn Around" by Ace of Base.
I know, I always hear Ace of Base when Alejandro is playing.
Try the whole gaga’s career, it’s a total ripoff from other artists
Try the whole gaga’s career, it’s a total ripoff from other artists
@@yvanstein1360 yeah i dont think so
Yvan stein I beg to differ there’s thing called influence ok.
In 1967 a band that I was with did a medley combining the Beatles' "Taxman" with the BeeGees' "In My Own Time" because they sounded so much alike. These used the same three chords but in the opposite sequence.
I'm surprised ice ice baby and under pressure didnt make the actual list, whenever one of them comes on I have no ideas which one it's gonna be until they start singing
you're kidding, right?
ever heard of a sample?
Wait I thought they both was the same song
Georgia Carver I hope your not serious.
Maren H That was a sample song
Under Pressure was "sampled" without permission. If you have a certain amount of consecutive musical notes (I think 5 or less) you don't need permission. The list makers excluded songs that were contested in a court of law.
5 Seconds Of Summer's intro to Social Casualties(y) is nearly exactly to the same to Fall Out Boy's Sugar, We're Going Down.
Logan Dent Well done you have actually persuaded me to listen to 5 Seconds of Summer.
+Logan Dent I looked up that 5SOS song just because you pointed up the similarity, and it TOTALLY sounds like Sugar! Now I'm mad at 5 Seconds of Summer.
Irk!!! Fricking 5sos 😁😕😔😐😑
Social Casualty also features music stolen from ATL's Weightless and at other parts it sounds remarkably like Seether's Rise Above This and the lyrics are basically Minority by Green Day. Also Rejects by 5SOS has the exact same music as I Feel Like Dancin' by ATL. 5SOS is so original some of their music videos show similarities to ATL too.
They also copied my chemical romance's "teenagers" with "she's kinda hot"
Matt Damon singing Scotty doesn't know!
Jason Juneau hahahahahah best Matt damn performance lol
What movie was that from?🐰
@@conniecarroll7222 Eurotrip
Looked for that comment as soon as I got to 11:10.
U2 with or without you and Q Lazzaurs goodbye horses. I noticed the 2 songs years ago,
goodbye horses is the song Buffalo Bill dances too in the movie silence or the lambs, and one of U2's most popular songs. Also, Feel this moment by Pit Bull ft Christina Agularia (sorry if I misspelled her last name) along with Take On Me by A-Ha
Express yourself sounds nothing like Born This Way!
I KNEW there was a reason why I mixed up "Already Gone" and "Halo"!!
+Skylie Craft And I do it EVERY TIME (almost)
jar of hearts by christina Perri... this tune is sure famous.
Yessssss
Skylie Craft im guilty as well
Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This vs. Sunglasses At Night
Truth
Watched this to see if it would be on the list. I was disappointed it wasn't.
Those two could be made into a Mashup :)
Tom Petty may have borrowed some of LDWMJ from the Jayhawks "Waiting for the Sun" after they toured with TPATHB. But when the Jayhawks had Rick Rubin (and remember he produced LDWMJ and Dani California) producing an album, he reminded Gary Louris of the Jayhawks that he may have borrowed from Neil Young (Alabama I think). Interesting side note indicated on Wiki, Benmont Tench played on both LDWMJ & WFTS, probably why the Jayhawks toured with them.
Not that I'm defending One Direction, but the riff isn't the same. The Who's riff is a I-V-IV progression where as OD is a VI-IV-I progression. The Who's starts in the tonic of the key and ends in the IV chord, where as OD's starts 2 notes lower and ends in the tonic.
Also I think 'Ob-la-di Ob-la-da' and 'Why Don't You Get a Job' is a bit of a stretch and most of the honorable mentions are more obvious than this one.
I think you're the only one who thinks that. :O
I know of notes C,D,E,F,G,A,H (B), what are notes I, IV, V?! I know I'll end up looking dumb, but I play guitar and I don't know what you are referring to (?!)
Ewan Flea
Ewan, I'm a guitar player too and use this system all the time in my band. It is basically called the 'Nashville Numbering system' using Roman numerals. You establish the key, let's say the key of C. The IV chord would be four chords above the C. So 'F' would be the IV.The G chord would be the V chord. The II would be D. The vi chord would be the minor so, Am.
So a 'I-IV-V-I' progression in the key of D for example, would be 'D-G-A-D'. In the key of G, it would be 'G-C-D-G'
This system makes it easy to transpose a whole song from one chord to another in a song.
I totally agree with you (and I've been quite out of the loop lately so I don't even know who One Direction is). The rhythm that the chords play are similar, but the chords themselves are definitely different.
I agree that they are not all that similar, but I must admit that the very first time I hear Best Song Ever I thought it was a rip-off of Baba O'Reilly.
One Direction stole A LOT of things so I'm really not surprised.
+Teneishia Coleman stole is a big word hun
like?
For example, Summer Night from the movie Grease was stoled by 1D in What Makes You Beautiful.
Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard was stoled in the Midnight Memories song.
Algo, One Way or Another it's a cover from a Blondie's song, sad that one of the most famous song of a group is a cover.
There are only so many chord combinations that can be well paired. There are so many songs that sound so similar, even the alphabet and twinkle twinkle little star sound the same.
+Djuna Appel-Riehle Exactly
Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now chorus sounds very much like Alan Parsons’ Eye In The Sky.
Excelente video, no sabía de éstas canciones similares
talk dirty to me Vs baby i'm worth it.
+Haneen alyahya ikr. I always got both songs confused!
True :D
But, Talk Dirty was sampled by like Balkan Beat Box, and a Balkan group helped Fifth Harmony.
+Haneen alyahya Lol the beginning of Worth It was on the radio and my brother said, "I love this song" Then it sang "Give it to me I'm worth it" Then he said, "NEVERMIND!"
Ikr 😮
What about Queen's "Under Pressure" and Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby"
Just listen to the beginning 10 seconds of both songs, and they're nearly identical.
sample
Thats becouse its a variation of the song
They had that example at the very end of the video
Its a sample, same with superfreak-cant touch this
Or Chic's Good Times and Queen's Under Pressure.
Love the video. V sauce actually covered this.
Any musician WILL TELL you know that the major chords A, C, D, ,E ,F and G are almost always gonna be used in a song your learning to play in some capacity (especially basic easy beginner songs). The Human ear really really likes certain sounds, the SAME sounds, chord progressions ect. It's actually really interesting. Some of the most famous catchy songs are literally only 3 to 5 chords. The same sounds, Chord progressions, etcetera With soo soo many songs being recorded songs are gonna sound alike. It's just bound to happen. That being said this is still a great video and blows your mind when your hear 2 songs next to each other
Now Me Without You by TobyMac has the same instrumental sounds as Nothing In This World by Paris Hilton as well as the same tempo (130 bpm or 32 1/2 measures/bars per minute) though Hot N Cold by Katy Perry has the same tunes/melody though different instruments and a faster tempo (at 132 bpm or 33 measures/bars per minute)
Most recent one: She's Kinda Hot (5SOS) vs. Teenagers (MCR). Think of the chorus
Oh yeah
Also 'hey everybody' completely copies the melody and verse of 'hungry like the wolf'
+It'sMasonDaane Yes! I completely agree
+Hayley Rose i miss the blink and green day era
+It'sMasonDaane That's Because they wrote the song with Duran Duran? And it's called sampling.
The "Dancing queen" and "Se la vi" songs are so similar there should have been a lawsuit.

Seriously, I pointed that out when I was 9 :P
When you mashed up Already gone and halo it sounds like a duet for me
Abingdon Boy School's "As One" and Coheed & Cambria's "Sentry The Defiant".
I love both these bands, but when Sentry was released, I was so certain it sounded familiar, and then when As One came up on shuffle I figured it out.
This is why tom petty should have lived forever
He may be gone, but his music will live forever!
He was truly a cool dude

@Kyle O'Bryan seen him twice, once at beginning of his career again nearer the end, phenomenal performer and song writer, and just an overall decent human being!
Ice Ice Baby and Under Pressure.
ikr
that was an actual law suit. Pretty sure it was on their other list
BoyNamedSue4 nope
That's a sampling, not a sound alike.
vanila ice asked queen if he could use it and pays a % of the earings from the song to them for letting him
Great list
I was in a band in the 1960s, and we did a medley of "Taxman" by the Beatles and "In My Own Time" by the Bee Gees. They were the same beat and same chords, just the opposite progression.
Backstreet Boys-I Want it That Way
One Direction-One Thing
Lauren Campbell right , so I'm not the only one who heard that
Lauren Campbell Can't blame One Direction for barrowing from older bands.. Not like they can get a song any other way... >_>
Drelvanian Guard I know right 😂😂
Lauren Campbell OH I NEVER NOTICED THAT!
Backstreet boys are better than one direction
Seriously why don't these lists include Under Pressure and Ice Ice Baby?
Its sampling
Jared Brinkman Actually Vanilla denied he sampled it and claimed he invented the riff he uses, it led to a lawsuit. So it's a rip off
Ragsy x
Gabriel Cruz if we include that, we'd have to include a LOT of other lesser known sampling (without permission) tracks. Trust us, so many came up in our research that we felt it was best to leave those out for another list
Signed
Mr X
WatchMojo.com wow, okay ummm...thanks for replying :) (didn't expect that tbh)
WatchMojo.com I guess we have our next list...if that's not too much trouble.
Do Ya by ELO and Fox On The Run by Sweet both came out at nearly the same time, so I’m not sure who may have copied whom.
this clip reminded me of so much good music, like the The Church, i had totally forgotten about them
It's obvious that 1D rips off their songs.
Also, Gaga admits that Madonna influences her, yet Madonna disses Gaga...
Bc gaga disrespect her. When born this way she came out, she said Whitney Houston was no. 1 inspiration behind it, but everyone knows born this way is mashup of Madonna's express yourself, deeper and deeper and vogue. When she was asked about the comparison she got MADD about it
Malcolm 1097 Bullshit. Do any of you actually PLAY or READ music? Born This Way is written in the Key of B, and Express Yourself is in G. Vogue is in A flat , and Deeper and Deeper is G. Just because there are some shared notes, doesn't mean it's a rip off! (There are only so many notes to be played people!)
Guitarhime I agree, Why can't it be looked at as musical evolution instead of a rip off. (I do not play any instruments), but... there are only so many frets on a guitar & bass, only so many keys on a piano and notes one can play and/or compile; out of them, there are only so many that are pleasing to the ear. At some point there is going to be crossover and similarities.
But. Lady Gaga is more Better than her in Everyway
Joshwa Ayala wrong Madonna is a legend whose style in music and fashion have copied by 99.99% of today's female artists, including Lady Gaga. Gaga is very talented and I love her but I'm not a biased little monster, to say she's better than a legendary artist like Madonna is actually stupid
Good thing Tom wasn't so Petty about bands ripping off his songs
cmon this needs more love
Torture, but he sure didn’t like Sam Smith doing it, lol
Tom Petty was a scholar and a gentleman!
RIP Thomas Earl Petty😔

Adam's Song By Blink 182 Sounds Like Nirvana's Come As You Are Especially When The Part Goes To "I Took My Time, I Hurried Up, The Choice Was Mine I Didn't Think Enough" Which Is Sampling Kurt Cobain's Verse From Come As You Are Saying "Take Your Time, Hurry Up, The Choice Is Yours So Don't Be Late"

Now I remember hearing Moving by David O’Brien which has the same beat as Gotta Get Thru This by Daniel Bedingfield (as well as the same tempo which’s 134 beats per minute or 33 1/2 measures/bars per minute)
Yet 5th Harmony’s song Work From Home ft. TY Dolla $ign has the same melody but Moving sounds like Gotta Get Thru This more than Work From Home does
Go look up Moving by David O’Brien
Hadn't one direction been copying people's music since they first started out?

it's an inspiration.. know your difference. anyways who doesn't copy? so please, back off.
5sos: social casuality (2014) vs Fob: sugar we're goin' down (2005)
Every punk song sound like Iron Maiden
+May Wang I like all three of them though....
What about Under Pressure by Queen VS Ice ice baby?
+Elina Ou They're in the end of the video..
Also, Ice Ice Baby was a rip off.
+Santi_Lee It was. I think Queen sued Vanilla Ice and won (as they should). Plus, Under Pressure is MUCH better.
+Santi_Lee There is a difference between Rip-Off and Sampling! Rip-Off is when you take the same melody, tune of the song or sometimes lyrics and change it if necessary but sounds very similar to the original song (it is called Interpolation) and Sampling is when you take a part of the tune of a song, loop it and use it or modify it to make a completely different new song. So Ice Ice baby is a sampled song from Queen's Under Pressure and not a rip off.
Shania Twain's Up is a Rip-off of Abba's Dancing Queen!
+BadmashFactory you are right. Vanilla Ice sampled the song
IMX may have taken elements from SWV as well, the chorus sounds like "Can We".
What comes right to my mind is Huey Lewis and the News (whom accused Ray Parker Jr. of ripping them off in the composition of "Ghostbusters"), inadvertently emulating the Elecrric Light Orchestra's "Sweet Talkin' Woman" in the assembly of "Do You Believe in Love".
You guys missed something: ALMOST EVERY 5SOS SONG EVER
Oh look a phandom member. Hi
Ayannaisapanda lolz Hey friend.
+Danisnotonchairs hey smol bean
+Danisnotonchairs no but I have Instagram.
+Danisnotonchairs oh ;-; well if you get one tell me
I'm 34 and Abba reminds me of long, family road trips. Love Abba.
I’m a 17 year old guy and love ‘em too
They are national icons here in Sweden.
More loved then meatballs or the allenkey.
You should visit the abba museum in stockholm :)
*That reminds me...Probation and Restraining Order over in 3 weeks....I gotta resurrect my Sexual Harassment of Agnetha.*
I'm 36 and my mom is an avid abba fan. abba is the soundtrack to my childhood lol. and oddly enough Elvis Presley.....I think my stepfather thought he was Elvis
Bob Dylan’s Restless Farewell is a clear riff on the folk tune The Parting Glass.
If you were gonna mention Kid Rock - where was his ripoff of Sweet Home Alabama & Werewolves of London! And where was Queen & David Bowies Under Pressure that was totally plagerized by Vanilla Ice!! It was thrown in at the end!!??
Eddie Carter they said samples are excluded, and i think Vanilla Ice sampled Under Pressure without permission, just adding one extra note.
How the hell did Katy Perry's "California Gurls" & Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" not even make honorable mention on this list? Both songs use the same exact beat from the same producer. What's wrong with you Mojo?
I was thinking more California girls and gamer girls but yeah til tok too
Listen to tik tok and the parrrttttyyy by justice ft uffie
Because rip-offs are not soundalikes. There's a subtle difference. If anything it was an insult to whomever ripped the other off. :P
It's not a copy, both are produced by Dr "generic" Luke
LAB-Lil' Angry B!tch you sound mad
But I can't hear the similarity between Express Yourself and Born this way
Paulette Frazier Lyrics.
try comparing the way they sing the verse
You can swap the verse's and chorus's melody in both songs.
Lucy McGhee Me neither. I just heard the same message in both songs.
You must all be joking...LOL
Please include - in love with you by Asian Superstars Regine Velasquez and Jacky Cheung sounds the same with Thank God i found you by Mariah Carey amd 98 degrees... but in love with you came first
They missed Wolfmother's "Woman" and The Doors' Roadhouse Blues. My brother's band used to do a mash up cos they sounded so similar.
i theorize green day might have even did that on purpose. the song 25 or 6 to 4 is about writing a song at the wee hours of the morning, the title comes as a reference to the time of day. Brain Stew is has many mentions to insomnia and restlessness, perhaps they copped the riff, slowed it down and used it as a sort of tribute or motif the way a hip hop producer would use a pencil scratch to signify that the bars are being written.
probably not. its a damn good song though
Metallica - Sad But True vs Avenged Sevenfold - This Means War. Both songs are great but the similarities are clear as crystal.
Avenged is literally coping metallica. The sad thing is that the younger rockers don't notice about this
Screw the scene kids!
Santiago Calle You do know that Avenged Sevenfold tried to mimic the song when they made the song This Means War.Metallica is one their biggest inspirations they also did the same thing with Shepard of fire which sounds similar to Enter Sandman, however they have admitted this.A7x respects Metallica so much hell they even opened for them at one point or was that the other way around anyways i like both bands they are great
Santiago Calle Guess you could say it's Sad But True.
Sorry for the terrible pun.
rodriguez luis those songs are tribute for bands who inspired them that's why the album is called hail to the king
I thought I was the only one who noticed the Green Day and Chicago comparison!! When I mentioned it to my mom she thought I was crazy until I played both on CZcams to so her!
Another one of this please.
One Direction... ripped off The Who...
I WANNA SEE SOME PUNISHMENT!!!
They also ripped off The Clash Should I Stay or Should I Go...
HenryDoheenie and other numerous songs... I can't believe they got famous
HenryDoheenie And Pour Some Sugar on Me
both live while we're young AND best song ever were nOT written by the one direction boys. Blame the writers!!
at least one direction has never let any of their fans die at their concert
The synth in Katy Perry's Roar is just the same as in M83's Outro... music industry is running out of ideas I guess
I hadn't even noticed it before but I TOTALLY hear it now! Crazy I didn't hear it before cause Outro by M83 is one of my all-time favorite songs.
No, just mainstream music
mmmotercycle I heard it when I first heard Roar, I was like... omg, it's Outro!
That's why it's a good idea to choose your record companies wisely.
mmmotercycle Outro is one of my all time favorite songs as well. It has such an intense and emotion-evoking building that gives me the chills every time I hear it.
The begining of Everclear's everything is wonderful now and Savage Garden's truely madly deeply :D
The piano riff in "It's Amazing" by Jem (2008) sounds very similar to the piano riff in "No Diggity" by Blackstreet (1996).
Vanilla Ice just plain TOOK that from David Bowie and Queen....
There was a lawsuit about it.
@@Thinking.Of.Some.Handle And Queen won.
@@chriswaterman27 yes, I know.
It’s called sampling
@@josephrobinson3359 It's called sampling you douche.
No Scrubs and Too Little Too Late sound identical too.
it was played before the list started :-)
Brooklyn Phillips Also How much by Mariah Carey...but isn't released as a single
Brooklyn Phillips Isi
Stevie Wonder's "Part Time Lover" and Hall & Oates "Maneater" are quite similar, but they both also share similarities with Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life" along with Jet "Are You Gonna Be My Girl", The Strokes "Last Night", The Supremes "You Can't Hurry Love", Pretenders "Don't Get Me Wrong", The Jam "Town Called Malice" and "Selfish Jean" by Travis....
Whenever Me and My Broken Heart by Rixton comes on the radio I sing along with the lyrics from Rob Thomas's Lonely No More.
