"Since 1975 no other Notre Dame player has been carried off the field...."
That was true when this movie came out in 1993, but in 1995 the Notre Dame football team carried another player off the field - fullback Marc Edwards who ran for 82 yards and had 3 touchdowns in a game against USC. Marc Edwards went on to play for various teams in the NFL and was a member of the New England Patriots when they won the Super Bowl in 2002.

For someone who grew up in Indiana, this movie and Hoosiers are the two best sports movies. My favorite thing about this movie is that, you know the game at the end? My mom and dad were at that game. My dad was one semester away from completing his MBA (Master's in Business Administration) and my mom worked in the bookstore. My dad, may he rest in peace, was absolutely certain that the Rudy chant was complete fiction. (My mom had to leave 10 minutes early because the bookstore got swamped after games.) And so help me, to my mind the movie was over when Ned Beatty announced over the loudspeaker "MY SON'S GOING TO NOTRE DAME!" -- I feel like that would have made my dad's _life_ if any of his children went to Notre Dame like he did. Not that he had anything against Nassau Community College and SUNY-New Paltz...

The large building behind the endzone, outside of the football stadium is the University library. The exterior of the that building has a huge mosiac of Jesus Christ with his arms raised in the air and respectfully called "Touchdown Jesus".

Your appreciation for American sports and American sports culture comes across as heartfelt and genuine, and it's fun to watch it grow. Good luck going forward.

Even though I haven’t been ‘home’ in many years, watching ND on Saturdays gives me a taste. It all makes this great film all the more special to me.
