I've never seen so many drivers with the IQ of a flip-flop 😂
Oh, you have. They're just normally not recognizable.
this is typical of the English
@@maxbenson1691 Hey get stuffed pal.

Don't insult flip flops like that.
Legend has it, that Renault made it all the way home on the starter motor.
Fr lol
That battery is a keeper!
The amount of water being pumped out of the exhaust was insane haha respect to that battery and starter
Well...maybe not! Depending on the number of teeth left on the flywheel :)
That model is now officially rated as a hybrid car
Can I just add a massive thank you to all these people totalling their cars for our entertainment! I have no idea what gives you the impression your family car can operate when submerged, but I for one am glad you do! Keep it up please! 😆😆

Awesome! The only vehicle that made it through unscathed was the American Jeep Wrangler😎🤣😂

The recovery/repair garage owner in that town must be a billionaire by now!! 🤣🤦♂️

1. Check for engine damage (any rod knock or head gasket leaks).
2. Use a dehumidifier to dry out the interior over a week or two
3. Replace any failed electrical components.
4. Valet and sell.
Actually quite a good "write off" to buy!
Imagine what the guy towing can make if he charges
But If you car ever catches water, he is the man to go too. Lots of experience
I love that no one warns the people and they all just sit there filming it for our enjoyment haha
It’s the exact reason we need to re-open the Nottinghamshire coal mines, give the people something better too do than film a flood, get pissed and smoke heroin. 🫣😃
How's that not a warning in itself? :)
I'd say 80% of the cars that failed could have made it if they started slow, kept it steady and just built up a solid bow wave
100% agreed with you😂😂
And the rest of them could've been saved if the owners hadn't tried to start the engine with water still in it.
Do you realise how deep 2 feet of water is ? No car can drive through that ! Some of those SUV that failed could have done it though I agree. But that's the limit.
@@dufonrafal 8:38 that ford did it twice
@@lovercars18 And that smoke didn't look good.
The clips where they think they’ve gotten away with it and go a few yards, before spluttering to a halt in a cloud of steam, are the best.
If they got through without a violent stop (indicating cylinders full of water) they're probably fine. The steam is just the wet air filter drying as air is pulled through the intake. A wet air filter and a stall is a good thing really as it means the air filter stopped most of the water which probably saved the engine.
For me those are a close second to the ones that float.
@@gpk6458 Everyone loves a floater…
can anyone tell me approx how long and how much it takes to repair the damaged engines?
@@id9076 Depends what is wrong. Possible damage could be: bent connecting rods, cracked pistons, pinched/broken piston rings, cylinder walls split or scratched, crank/connecting rod bushings split/shifted, crank girdle stretched, engine block cracked, head bolts stretched, head gasket blown out...
Oh dear! That's a bit embarrassing for the modded silver disco getting towed back through by a standard one. If only they had spent a few more pounds on a snorkel!
It doesn't make sense after spending hundreds on suspension by the looks of it crazy
Yeah the air intake comes through the fender. So driving so fast only splashes water upinto the air intake
They didn't even need a snorkel - if he hadn't tried hitting the water at 30mph he would have made it easy...
It's funny mate, jacked up he thought he could plow into a puddle,
I'm glad tbh mate idiots like the deserve breaking down.
A mondeo St cruise slow and gets through twice,
Haha disco owners ego as big as his truck, I bet he don't plow into next time haha
My thoughts exactly. Just a chav in a 'look at me' shed.
For anybody wondering why the cars often break down once they leave the water, it is because cars are naturally aquatic. They are fine when in water but then they realise how much they love it and as soon as you try to leave, the car wants to stay submerged. The exact same thing happens when you try to drive a submarine on land.
i am figuring out now
I especially love any discovery/range rover that goes down. Love it. they deserve it all, every inch of hydrolock, every cent of the garage bill.
You'd surely think seeing a broken down car in the middle or on the other side would be enough to put off the risk. Some interviews would be great
Broken down cars and a huge crowd of people all holding camera phones.....' I wonder what all this can be about'?

Houston has more water on the streets and freeways after a good downpour. So you don't have to go to the UK. Peolpe drown their cars pretty often.
It breaks my heart to see so many beautiful cars getting engine flooded.
Loved the Jeep.
Looks like that Pub's the place to be, lol.
Bow wave people, bow wave. As slow as you need, as fast as you must.
Always makes me laugh when a 4x4 or pretend 4x4 driver finds out how they are not as tough or go-anywhere as they thought.
You've hit the nail on the head with the "pretend " bit
I'm always surprised at the Land Rover Discovery failures. You'd think it would ace a crossing like this but they seem very very bad at it.
@@chriswalker4370 the wade depth of a disco sport or similar is basically just below bonnet level (60cm). If you hit the water so the wake goes over and up the windscreen it will go in to the air intakes. Don’t do it without a snorkel.
Literally all you need to do is take it slowly, as long as the air intake is above the water line. The idiots who just pile in so the water ends up over the windscreen deserve the bill for an engine rebuild really...
@@Azureecosse toyota hilux begs to differ
Guy in the mondeo was the only one smart enough go go through it slowly and he came back opposite way too. Wouldn't risk it in a car myself.
He appears to go through there regularly. But the ONLY one driving it sensibly.
I love how it gives the locals hours of entertainment
There is nothing crueller than hearing the mocking laughter of children as you sit there in total humiliation 🤣
Just goes to show, technique is everything. Most of these vehicles, especially the bigger ones, should have no problem crossing this. But when the driver insists on hitting the water at mach 3, it isn't going to work.
Exactly ... in many cases the water doesn't even reach the middle of the wheels ... but with their method they literally scooping the water up to their roof.
Just my thought ..WHY bomb into it so fast… nice and steady create a little bow wave and follow through
The location of the air intake is important as well. A lot of modern cars have it at the top of the grill so if you scoop up a lot of water with the front of the car you can push it straight into the intake. Older cars that positioned it in the space behind one of the headlights would probably fare better.
Seems like people think you need to gun it to create the bow wave, I blame top gear and Jeremy's "Power!"
In some cases the air intake is just too low. No matter what technique.
Like lambs to the slaughter 😂
The sounds of the hydro locked Renault was supper satisfying! listening to it drown to its death 😂😂
This has to be the ultimate windup, crowd of people standing around laughing at your misfortune, how devilishly good British humor.
Do people not realise that the moment you bow-wave the bonnet... Congratulations your engine air intake is also underwater...Id love to be a mechanic in this village... Lots of nice hydrolocked engines to deal with.
not to forget all the other stuff that can break from that.. especially the ppl that speed trough there are the best customers; ripped off covers, broken radiators, worbed brakes, and some cracked housings from the sudden temp drops..

That was hard to watch tbh 😬
@@Maurice_Moss I did it when my clutch cable broke in the middle of a crossroads and traffic was coming my way fast, but I’m not sure they needed to risk the damage to the starter as they worse they faced was wet feet
@@LiveDonkeyDeadLion damage to the starter won’t matter a bit when they trailer the car to the junkyard. Their engine being totaled is what they should worry about
What does it matter? It'll go straight to a junkyard - nobody in their right mind would put a new engine in a POS car like that lmao
@@harrisaxer2651 no. When the air filter & electrics dry out it’ll be as before.
Ive never see so many Knobs in my life !!!!! always thought they were around by how people drove this just proves it
'Just needs drying out' is one of the best understatements
I find it really bizarre how people can look at this ford and think "yeah, I can get through that". Especially when the depth marker clearly suggests otherwise.

USA here, I live on a road that floods frequently during the spring and fall when it's rainiest time of year. I see people fail at crossing the river all the time. The best advice is to slow down and keep the bow wave from crashing over your hood. Having a higher profile vehicle helps.
The ford at 8:37 does a great job at this. Even though he had a small car he was able to cross just fine. Even when higher profile vehicles have failed.
I typically cross water that has been high as my bottom seat cushion with nothing more than a stock air box. Just push the wave of water at a slow speed.
Getting waterproof door speaks is a big plus. I got tired of replacing mine. Marine grade speakers will take the abuse. I can only imagine how much water damage repairs must cost.
I agree, the Ford had it just right.
The water doesn't have to reach the hood. It's enough for water so simply go into the engine's air intake.
It amazes me how many don't know to go slowly through deeper water. But definitely is entertaining lol.
I like the lady laughing at 04 seconds 😂🤣😂
The Disco without a snorkel.... Hahahaha
Fun for all the family here. Needs a snack wagon for hot drinks 😊. Happy new year (and thank you) to Tom and all viewers. An unhappy new year for all the drivers in this video
But don’t be sorry for them as they willingly destroy their cars.
@@michaelkeen5010 no sympathy at all. The carelessness with the speed hitting the water coupled with the fact the route to avoid this ford is not that much
If you put a Snack Wagon there you would gain such a big amount of money that you dont know where to put (spend) it... 😉
I would love to pay a visit and buy snacks, sadly its a 2 hour each way drive for me.
There is a cafe already here on the right
This place needs a livestream
I’m going there for my holidays .looks a great laugh
It must hurt to wake up like these people 🤦
A simple sign telling them to enter slowly, don't accelerate, would save a lot of engines. But it might have an effect on your content!
They’d still ignore the signs. There was an earlier clip on another channel where they drove past ‘ Road Closed’ signs. A bit like anti -vaxxers, to me.
@@markwilson4052 you just can't help some people!
Absolutely, or even go through backwards. It’s that wake. Up over the bonnet and in to the air intakes..
They shouldn’t need a sign to tell them how to drive it’s common sense
@@markwilson4052 yea that makes a lot of sense. You go thru the water your more then likely gonna blow up your engine and if you get the vaccine your just as likely to caught and spread Covid! Makes sense
This is just hours of fun for everyone. If there’s a burger van around, I’d be there for the day.
That landrover at 11 mins with a cone filter in the engine bay... What was he thinking would happen
Passenger: "You're a natural, ain't ya Tyron?"
Driver: " 'Course I am.."
I love these ones to failure ones are the good ones but one of the best things is hearing all the kids laugh and cheer it really does sound like a good atmosphere not so good for the drivers
I would love to hear the views of local garages: I drove my car through 2 feet of water at 20 mph, it’s now broken, what do you think? Laughs uncontrollably and says I can’t wait to send you the invoice! What a bunch of absolute bellends.
Driving through Rufford Ford should be included in the driving test, fail first time and you automatically fail your test. Would keep thousands of incompetent drivers off the road

The silver land rover. 🤣🤣🤣 when your suspension costs 10 times more than the actual shed you put it on...
The fact he got away with it once just... but then had to make sure he totally wreaked it he came back through for good measure. 🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️
I'd rather use the extra fuel and go the long way around than even consider going through water that deep and risking my engine.
True! I looked that place up and there is a main road with a roundabout that leads to the road on the other side, so its hardly a massive distance !
"What engine??"
Only a 10min detour!
@@miarahim Not even 5 minutes if you avoid that stretch of road entirely!
Exactly. Why would you risk such damage? Even 1000km detour would still be worth it.

I live near Rufford and have driven through this ford many times. It amazes me how many people don’t know how to drive through it. It’s entertaining though. 😂
hilarious when that little gray car begin starting itself out of the water and rocking back and forth lol
I just love the community social aspect of watching everyone fail
If everyone went through as fast as the Hilux im sure 98% of them would be ok
I agree
Not sedan .....idiot
I am not so sure, for example the nice blue Seat Lean did a decent speed, at 6:36, follow the bow wave they teach you in the offroad world. But still stranded after or was smoking a lot. and the Fiesta after it went slow. and at 8:43 I thought the mondeo made it, but also huge smoke.
Most would, but any car with a very low air intake will struggle even at a slow speed, and a lot of newer cars have got their air intake vents on the front bumper right down near the fog lights.
@@arnoudjanschut no the waterline was still too high. The Seat was going too fast. The Mondeo did it at the ideal speed.
@5.06 even ducks laughing at them
The laughing and pee taking from the locals tho is priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
Nice how the steamed-up windows hides their shame.....
My favourite bit is when they open the door and a bathtub full of water comes out 😅
These 'car users' as I call them because they aren't drivers by any chance, have no notion how engines work, let alone where their intake is. Brilliant fun, thanks!
Still one would think that a big body of water covering the entire road as well as the nearby flora be enough to sound multiple alarms in their head to stop them from plunging in… let alone multiple wrecked cars on both sides of the road, tow trucks and a jolly crowd cheering bloody murder with camera in hand
Absolute menaces watching on the side with their cameras out hahaha i love this
The engine on that white Ford Kuga was REALLY knackered !!
Moral of this video: Land Rovers aren't submarines, they're still cars and need to be treated as such
Imagine driving up to that and thinking 'I'm going to risk thousands of ££' by driving through that. Then the sheer wave of regret as your car dies.
True British stoic tradition..."Keep Calm and Carry On!"
What would p!$$ me off more is the kids shouting "do it do it" then laughing after.
As for the silver 4x4 contraption; not much venom in it now I’m afraid.
He would have been fine if had a) driven through slowly instead of showing off b) spent some money on a snorkel after going to the trouble of all those other off-road mods!
@@bobgenghiskhan2499 all those “other mods” have risen the intake even higher than it originally was (and these Discos have high and properly protected intakes to begin with). It’s all the driver’s blind furry to initiate a tsunami that killed it.

The kid laughing like Nelson Muntz at 8:25 🤣
Sort of like something out of Monty Python, people laughing at someone receiving a good old stoning.
Remember boys and girls: if you see water in front of you, make sure to hit it at Mach 2 so you can have high pressure water blast through every cubic inch of your engine bay and get into the intake!

2:20 Uh oh *Discovery needs Recovery!!* 😂
Mondeo man was the only one that knew where his air intake was and how to drive slowly enough not to cause a bow wave that would put water into it.
the air intake is quite high on the old mondo. about level with the middle of the head lights.

I'm guessing that BMW that went through on the first clip will be a little expensive to fix 🤣
This is the best comedy show on the web! 🤣
The need to put a sign up there saying.. Drive through the water slowly.. but I suppose the recovery people would take it down!🤣
Firstly, know where your air intake is. Keep the water well below this level and then you only need to worry about floating away. Secondly, no need for all the speed. Dead slow and you can always stop and back out. Same thing applies whether you drive a 4x4 or a mini. Halfway up the wheels is always a good safe bet.
Makes me think: provided you keep lots of revs up, i wonder if you'd be safer going through in reverse ?
