Insulin does not belong to me, it belongs to the world.'' - Sir Frederick Banting ... Banting's co-inventors, James Collip and Charles Best, sold the insulin patent to the University of Toronto for a mere $1. They wanted everyone who needed their medication to be able to afford it.
“This is MY insulin,” Big Pharma

The high cost of insulin is the reason my mother-in-law died horribly, in front of her 17 year old daughter. I'm disgusted at the republicans who allowed the price cap to be removed.
What an awful tragedy.
And I got a feeling that people with family members that are diabetic and need insulin will vote Republican...
I can only imagine how traumatic that would be 😨 😩 I feel like if we were to record something like that and show it to the lawmakers, they would still not budge.
@@IAmHereForeve Red states are pretty much universally at the bottom of the rankings for health and healthcare, so... not so much a feeling as just... probably a fact.

Any decent lawyer (hell, even most shoddy ones too) would advise their clients not to commit crimes during trials. Clients who act against that advice are rather problematic. Perjury is a felony, and one that should be prosecuted more often.
Nothing says "I'm innocent" like flushing documents so you don't get in trouble.
it just dawned on me that Trump complained about water pressure and saying you got to flush 2 to 3 times he was referring to the papers he was flushing in the toilet. 🤣🤣🤣
Now we know wgat that was about
Now we know what that was about. lol

You're the first person I've seen say this. Nice one.
It’s really sad when we have to pass bills to make the richest pay their fair share.
And when the opposition blames the Dems saying that “those corporations will just pass along the costs” as if these corporations own us and we must always appease them (and as if we have no choice but to buy their goods).
Capitalism at it's best.
15% on just a handful of companies, isnt doing much, especially when theres loopholes already in place....so it's still no where near being a "fair share"
after generations of decreasing regulation combined with increasingly more subsidies, tax cuts & other corporate socialism, this baby-step minimum tax rate is hardly their 'fair share', but it's more than nothing. Even if they passed legislation demanding a flat tax for everyone, it would take decades after it took effect for the rich to finally be paying their fair share.
Well the rich people in Congress get to decide which bills to pass, despite what the Middle Class wants.
Could it be possible that even someone who'd represent an animal like Jones, even that lawyer could have a heart and a conscience? "Oops, damn! I didn't mean to send THAT to the prosecutors! My bad, Alex."
He’s still going to get paid poetic justice!
My friend bought my insulin or I would have gone without it😞 The pharmacist was very sympathetic but couldn't do anything to help me. I could not believe this was happening.
You have my sympathy - unlike you, I am lucky enough to live in Scotland where all prescription medication is completely free.
To everybody.
There’s things like GoodRx, ScriptSave, or SingleCare that can help get you coupons on prescriptions. With how fucked our healthcare system is, those types of coupons have quite literally saved my life and let me actually afford meds I need to live, but ngl it’s depressing that this is how things are

The way insurance companies treat diabetics is sick. The amount of paper work that has to be done so my dad can keep his glucose monitor? Every three months certifying that he still has a chronic, incurable disease that he's had for 4 decades just so he can keep getting life saving medicine and diagnostic tools that he pays thousands of dollars a year for? It's enough to make you scream.
Literally sickening!
The fact Jones kept going on his show after each day of the court case, fully aware he was, by law, NOT allowed to talk about the case and it would be perjury and he WOULD be held accountable for it, STILL kept talking about it.
It was almost like he physically COULDN'T STOP digging that hole he was already in
Plaintiffs' lawyer: "And that is how I know that you lied to me." Love it, absolutely love it. He must have REALLY enjoyed saying this to that POS. I know I enjoyed HEARING it!
Alex Jones should have hired the Secret Service to act as his lawyers, because they would have made sure that his texts were deleted.
It seems hollow not to be able to celebrate with him tonight.

Not inability, unwillingess. They absolutely *could,* they just don't want to. They don't give a sh*t.
My friend has Type 1 and a couple years ago, his daughter turned out to have it as well. His impersonation of Alex Jones is spot on🤣🤣🤣
For those of us watching around the world it’s just staggering the high price ALL Americans let alone the elderly have to pay for prescription drugs especially when compared to other countries where it’s low.
It’s beyond telling that a wealthy country like the US doesn’t have universal healthcare and instead insurance companies price gouge the public. Your healthcare system fails it’s own citizens.
Our entire country and system of government fails us constantly, it was built that way, so...working as intended?
Thanks for noticing
It's America. All we need is to go back to leech treatment at this point.
Unfortunately, far too many Americans believe it is their patriotic duty to be economically raped by insurance companies. "I love my insurance company. Charge me more, charge me more!"
The problem and biggest misunderstanding people have of the system, is that because the average American pays 3x the price for medication, it is availabley cheap across seas.
Stephen here looks so innocent! He doesn't know yet of the Maralago raid.

GOP should be (extra) ashamed of themselves for removing the insulin price cap proviso.
They have no conscience and therefore no shame.

Trump capped This at 35$ during his presidency, The Biden administration removed this Wake Up
During hitler’s time the sick and disabled were sent to death camps because they were seen as a burden to the country.
Oh how the republicans have learned from history.
That photo of Bernie was him reflecting on how effing hard it is to get anything done that helps people...even when paired to a bill that also has more party favors for the lobbyists and donors.
This bill won't help anyone but the politicians and their families, not yours. Anyone pushing the climate scam is a traitor.
Colbert is the man! He always speaks the truth and so does his staff. Colbert for president 2024!!
Hell no.. He's a rich person... We need a poor humble president
I love that the bill looks good in the headlines, but you have to be employed to qualify, whether you bought energy efficient things or not. That cuts out not only the unemployed who are counted in the unemployment rate, but everyone else who's unemployed and not currently on UI/EUC benefits. So those who are not employed still have to pay full price for energy efficient stuff - and that just consigns the poor to cheap-o junk which can, through other bad manufacturing techniques, expose them to more harmful chemicals than what are typically used in more eco-friendly versions of so many things we all use every day. *It would be extremely helpful to also require companies to offer discounts on eco-friendly items, for those who qualify for Medicaid, SNAP, etc.* That way, *everyone* gets to participate in helping to save the environment, and oftentimes, our own health and that of our families!
Yes. Australia did it by rebates paid to the dealer and calculated in as part of fhe sale price, no reference in the paperwork to your employment or income. P.S. based on reference to energy standards, though!
I believe Alex Jones’ lawyer has a conscience and found a way to help the families of the victims….
Yeah this isn't a screw up, its called an honest lawyer and the discovery phase.
I honestly can't think of any other explanation for that. My first thought when I heard the news was...oh, pretty sure they can just ask for it back, essentially. Of course the next thought was, oh, but they didn't after being contacted and informed by the other lawyer...cool, but why? Monumentally stupid or it was done on purpose and I'm pretty sure drumpf has all the monumentally stupid lawyers right now.
Either they wanted to throw him under the bus or they were to lazy to go through 3GB of data and determine/label what was privilege. People need to stop thinking they are separate from the environment and the world around them. Just because we built the illusion of not being subject to the whims of this planet doesn’t mean the planet can’t break that illusion anytime she wants.
Yesterday in Oregon a 200 year old tree actually, no joke, exploded because it couldn't withstand the extended 100 degree weather - taking power lines down with it.
The planet will do what it does. It's us and our lifestyle and our sense of permanence that will suffer.
In forestry, the problem question everyone has to deal with "allow nature to do its thing, or maintain it currently?"
Should we reign in humanity to preserve it a bit longer or let it do its natural thing to either die out or evolve?
a gold star for you Kirk.
Exactly. The folly of humans. The earth was here long before us & it will be here long after.
A few George Carlin quotes: "The planet isn't going anywhere, we are." And, "This planet could shake us off like a bad case of fleas." And yes as well, the idea of being separate from everything else is the great illusion, we're part of something much larger than our selves. Like a cell in a leaf on a tree which is part of a forest etc. Like a star is part of a solar system which is part of a galaxy etc. Whether we look in larger or smaller terms there's a continuum of interconnection. It's just when we think on a human scale and we see our corporeal selves we often, erroneously, make that distinction.
Alex Jones' lawyer: "im gonna get my soul back, i'm gonna get my soul back, i'm gonna get my soul back...". 🤭
One significant bit in the Jones case you might not appreciate. The plaintiff's lawyer said that he got the file twelve days previously. He told the defense lawyer that he had it. Under the Texas rules, the defense lawyers had ten days to object or to claim that all or part of it was privileged. The defense lawyers did not do that. Thus, the plaintiffs can do with it what they will.
The defense attorney tried to have the documents quashed and a mistrial declared. The judge pointed out that those texts should have turned over a year or more previously, and the defense isn't going to get a mistrial because THEY screwed up. She had zero sympathy for the defense.
Oh, and both law enforcement and the January 6th committee want to see these documents, and the plaintiff's attorney is going to pass them on.
How yucky of a human being you must be for your own lawyer to consciously betray you in court? Because, let's face it, no one "accidentaly" gives the other attorney damming evidence and makes no move to block or protect it.
Oh god yes @sending shit to the wrong person is why emails from lawyers include a disclaimer.

I can only imagine that lawyer did it on purpose because he probably has a moral compass, but had to fake a blatant error to make it still legally acceptable
And so that his liability insurance would cover the lawsuit soon to come from Jones who might actually be just barely smart enough to ask a different attorney to file it against his current attorney.

Wasn’t Jones supposed to turn over that information in discovery or something? If he lied and said he didn’t have it when he did, maybe his lawyer did the right thing. Hey, he wouldn’t want his client to get in trouble for hiding evidence, would he?
Or maybe Jones doesn’t pay his lawyers, like Trump.
I live in Australia and have a son with Type 1 diabetes. I could not imagine the anxiety and stress of living in America and trying to provide life-saving medication to my child every single day, at the horrific prices that are gouged from people. Price gouging of pharmaceutical drugs already makes no sense to me; if you as a company charge medications so much that many potential customers can't afford them, then how are you going to make money off those medications in the long-term with only the wealthy top percentage of the population being able to afford them? Personally, I feel the federal government needs to have some form of price control to ensure that we don't pay an absurd amount for prescriptions compared to other developed countries. If a bottle of pills in say Germany costs $6.00, that same bottle of pills shouldn't cost more then 50% extra here in the U.S., which would be $9.00 in this case. I'm not saying pharmaceutical companies don't deserve to make profit for their research and development, but they shouldn't be able to charge insane prices for their life saving products that most uninsured Americans can't afford.
The simple answer is that those who can't afford it will go into debt to not die. Pharmacy doesn't care how the customer pays that debt, since they're already getting paid.
Healthcare is effectively infinite demand to the consumer, so the price only depends on the maximum they can get in loans with absolutely everything (including future potential earnings) as collateral.
There's actually A LOT of reasons capitalism doesn't work to regulate Healthcare prices.
Because....... **enough** folk will that, even at that higher price, the company will make a profit for a few quarters (and will keep sending those sweet donations)
You’re naive.
A lot of things about the Us makes no sense.
In Australia, we have a system called the pharmaceutical benefits scheme which keeps prices on a range of common prescriptions to a mandated low price. Its written into law. All you need is politicians who pass laws benefitting the people, not corporate donors.

I once saw this political cartoon where there was a map of the United States of America. In the image, all of the landlocked states were in red with 1 big word bubble that said "climate change is a myth." Meanwhile, all of the coastal & southern border states were blue with multiple word bubbles that said "we beg to differ" since the landlocked states don't experience the impacts of climate change that the coastal states do. Also, you'd figure that more Conservative Evangelicals would actually care about climate change & it's impacts on society. Keep in mind, The Bible says that since the Earth is God's gift to man it's our duty to take care of it and everyone & everything on it. But, even if they found a way around this, you'd figure that they would at least want to prevent millions of migrants from countries that are no longer habitable from wanting to come to America in the future. Finally, even if you don't support The Green New Deal and similar policies because you don't believe in climate change, why wouldn't you at least support it because it would promote new well-paying green energy jobs here in the United States?
And I'll end with a joke:
Ben Shapiro: If you believe you're in an area that's gonna be flooded from climate change then just sell your house and move.
Responder: Just 1 small problem: Sell our houses to who, Ben?! Aquaman?!
It is very sad "man made accelerated climate change" became a political football in the US, its kinda embarrassing for everyone.
Too many words
Evangelicals would love Climate Change and welcome it even.. Quoting some ramblings from Revelation saying fire from heaven is referring to global warming or some shit.

Like the judge, AJ's lawyer was so tired of AJ's scamming, arrogance, defiance, and lack of compassion/empathy/humanity/benevolence.... any redeeming qualities, rather than just quit being a lawyer, he made the sacrifice play, gave the world a gift and screwed it to the AJ!
Medal of Honor to the lawyer!
I thought it was intentional too. Defense lawyers always advise their clients to tell them the whole truth and not lie to them in order for them to properly prepare for their defense. Once Jones lied under oath, it put the lawyers in a veeerry difficult position if THEYKNEW the truth contradicted their client's sworn testimony. Alex probably dared them to release it and thought he paid them enough not to ---- WRONG!!!!
Brilliant talented man....so many tasteless jokes which are well received.
You know your audience is cool when they clap for the irs…..
Even Alex Jones' own lawyer could no longer defend him!
Wow how?
He was sent By Tweeto....no wonder he fucked off...

I really hope Bernie knows what a hero he really is.
I keep thinking of writing him & thanking him for existing

Another FINE show…ty Stephen
Stephen mouthing the words to «Bitch better have my money» is EVERYTHING!!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought Bernie looked like the Schoolhouse Rock bill.
I've seen that meme😁
To a tee. Poor guy is just exhausted. We gotta keep fighting for him and our future.
We need to bring back Schoolhouse Rock.
We should've had him for president! I'm still feeling the burn!
@@couragekarnga8735 yea it's funny how facts prove that he was cheated out by the democratic party and because of that we are where we are now, and had to experience these last 6 years as badly as they have been
Colbert’s impression of what Alex would say is almost VERBATIM what he said 😂🤣
Can't believe his throat wasn't killing him, after that.
Not hard it's Alex Jones after all guy is rather simple y'know lolol
@@wintertrooper7918 he’s not as simple as you’d imagine. He’s a bad-faith actor. That’s his business plan, and as he sells himself he can’t even be ingenious ever. He must always keep up appearances to not lose his audience and grift.

The winding road joke is your best yet, as I hear it!
Major shout out to Alex Jones' lawyers who are no fools to the game of morality.
That Bernie photo would be a dope album cover
Bernies complete lack of ability to produce a tone that sounds like singing makes this even funnier, as an ardent supporter.
It is awesome hearing Stephen Colbert so genuinely happy about the news
He's gonna have a blast tomorrow ^~^
@@AmataTai Truf
It's nice to have some happy news for once!
Let's hope he clarifies the horrible changes manchin & sinema included ie extra gas pipelines and tax cuts for the rich.
Tomorrow's show is going to be one of his happiest ones, I guarantee you.
Really got me laughing tonight. Some real zingers!
Stephen Colbert, I thank God for you. Thank you for being a voice of comfort in these times. OMG!! Dick Pic joke!! drop mic! well done!
When you start telling the jury you can't pay over 2mil before a verdict is even given lol
Just wait for the 8 families later this year to go through the penalty phase now that a precedent of $49 million has been set for him.
I hope he doesn't even remember what two mill looks like when they're done with him!
They messed up when they allowed Alex to talk about his finances in court/under oath before a bankruptcy trial they knew was coming. Because as soon as that trial proves that they very well can afford that and disproves other bullshit he might have spewed he can be sued for perjury. And that is a crime with a prison sentence. Whoopsidoodle.
Thank you Bernie for fighting for us.
Screw Bernie. He's an open borders communist.
He's a traitor pushing a global scam on you.
OMG....your Alex Jones impression got me!!!! 🤣
Please come and settle here in the UK.... where Insulin is provided free-of-charge to patients through the National Health Service (NHS)

On a smart phone with a 6.5 screen, that blue wave stumped me till I enlarged the size. At first it looked like a dozen people going into port-a-potties to vote, which in a weird way fit your post or my mind.
I need another cup a Java.🙃
My favourite alternative name was "Tangerine Palpatine". Had me in stitches.
I love Colbert’s impersonations!
"Oh, let's see, they didn't cover this in Legally Blond." 🤣🤣🤣
So poor people making $25k a year are paying 30 percent of that to taxation, while people who own companies making over a billion dollars a year pay only 15 percent. And this is a huge step in making corporate America pay their fair share? It's sad that that is the truth.
That is not even close to reality
Cmon

I love it when Stephen goes a little too far and Lewis reacts the way he does.

The Alex Jones impression is spot on!!
Mitchell Badoo do you really receive all your political information from one news channel or just the political propagandists Steven colbert. AKA late night talk show host. ??????
Hello I'm your host tonight Steven Colbert. Just in case you haven't noticed, all I talk about is Trump. Why? Because people like you are easily persuaded and lack the ability to think for themselves. You see I'm not a real talk show host or comedian. I'm a political propagandists puppet for the Globalist, . They go by and are under a lot of names, or organizations, but to keep you from thinking to hard and hurt your little brain just refer to them as people who believe the constitution or Bill of rights are invalid because they would get in the way of a global government. Trump was not playing ball with us. Just ask the United Nations and their minions.
Corporations will simply 'pay' one of their subsidiaries most of their profits. Oh, minus all the bonus money that will be paid to the executives who arrange the funneling of that money away from the tax man.
That burn at the end...oh boy lmaoooooooooooooooooo
Priceless: The look on Jones' face when the prosecution tells him he's about to flush his ass like a top secret document.
